Method of making complex internal passages in turbine airfoils
A method of making a composite core includes forming first and second cores of refractory metal and ceramic material. Each of the first and second cores is formed with two layers of a material. The layers are bonded together to form a laminate master pattern, and a flexible mold is formed around the pattern. The pattern is removed from the flexible mold, and slurry material, either pulverulent refractory metal material or ceramic material, is poured into the flexible mold. The slurry material is sintered to form each core. The first core is used as an insert while making the second core to create a final composite core.
NEEDLED CERAMIC MATRIX COMPOSITE COOLING PASSAGES
A method for forming a hole within a ceramic matrix composite component includes forming a first core portion for a ceramic matrix composite component; embedding a hollow member into the first core portion at a desired location; wrapping the first core portion with a first ceramic matrix composite material; inserting a rod through the hollow member and into the first core portion; removing the hollow member; assembling a second core portion to the first core portion such that the rod extends into the second core portion; and wrapping the first core portion and the second core portion with a second ceramic matrix composite material.
Method of producing limestone-simulating concrete
A new process for creating a decorative surface on a cast concrete tile. A mold is prepared by coating with mold release. An aggregate of water, coloring dye, sand, Portland cement, and preferably filler material such as pea gravel is pre-mixed. Baking soda is mixed with a significant volume of water to create a high-viscosity paste. The paste preferably has a high solid to liquid ratio so that it can be crumbled into baking soda clumps of various sizes. The dampened baking soda clumps are sprinkled randomly onto the bottom surface of the mold (which will bear against what becomes the top surface of the cast tile). The pre-mixed aggregate is then added to the mold. Once the aggregate is cured, the cast concrete tile is removed. The baking soda clumps create complex voids in the tile's upper surface, producing a surface texture similar to limestone.
Leachable casting core and method of manufacture
A leachable casting core and method of manufacture may include a plurality of legs configured to establish a plurality of internal flow channels of a cast component. Tie bars, with a first tie bar end and a second tie bar end opposite thereof, may couple to at least two of the plurality of legs. At least one of the tie bars may be oriented to form a linking cavity within the cast component between the internal flow channels. The linking cavity may serve as an obstruction to fluid communication through the linking cavity.
Method and Apparatus for Improving Core Manufacturing for Gas Turbine Components
A system for producing a core including a core profile for use in casting. The system comprises a cavity block including an upper portion, a lower portion, and a recessed cavity in each of the upper portion and the lower portion; an adapter insert including a first portion and a second portion, the adapter insert sized to fit within the recessed cavity in each of the upper portion and the lower portion of the cavity block; and a core die insert sized to fit and be positioned within the adapter insert. The core die insert includes a sacrificial material and a hollow internal profile, with the hollow profile of the core die insert corresponding to the core profile.
METHOD FOR MAKING HYBRID CERAMIC/METAL, CERAMIC/CERAMIC BODY BY USING 3D PRINTING PROCESS
This invention relates to a product and a method of preparing ceramic and/or ceramic hybrid materials through the construction of a printed die. The printed die being made by three dimensional printing or additive manufacturing processes possesses both an external geometry and an internal geometry.
Manufacture of parts using the lost wax method
The invention relates to the making, on a support plate (34), of an annular space (76) in a ceramic paste covering this plate, in order, by successive deposits and firing of layers of said ceramic paste, to create a base of a ceramic shell (40) for the moulding of parts, the base having said annular space (76). For this purpose, between two deposits of said ceramic paste, and on the plate, said deformable annular element (82) will be deformed in order to break the ceramic layer.
SCALE
To provide a scale which makes it possible to adjust the temperature of a furnace so that a ceramic blank can be properly heated even if various conditions such as the combination of the used ceramic blank and investment, and the type and size of the furnace vary, the scale comprises: a scale part; and a base part, the scale part and the base part being formed of wax or resin, wherein the base part has a shape of protruding from part of the scale part, a size of the scale part is larger than that of the base part in a direction orthogonal to a protruding direction of the base part.
Inorganic shell, resin composition, and method for making inorganic shell
An inorganic shell is ball-shaped and hollow, and includes silica and crystalline inorganic powder sintered together. A resin composition has the inorganic shells and the resin composition has certain dieletric characteristics. A method for making the inorganic shell is also provided.
METHOD FOR PRODUCING A CERAMIC CORE FOR THE PRODUCTION OF A CASTING HAVING HOLLOW STRUCTURES AND CERAMIC CORE
The invention relates to a method for producing a ceramic core (4, 4)and to a core produced by this methodfor preparing the production of a casting having hollow structures which the ceramic core is configured to form, making use of a 3D model of digital geometric co-ordinates of the casting, wherein the method comprises the following steps: a) Producing by means of casting technology at least one first portion (4) of the ceramic core including at least one first joining structure (24) in a surface of the portion; b) Producing by means of casting technology or 3D printing technology at least one second portion (4) of the ceramic core including at least one second joining structure (26) matching the first joining structure, in a surface of the portion, wherein the production by means of casting technology comprises the following steps: i. Unpressurized or low-pressure casting of a ceramic core blank, and specifically with an oversize relative to the core (4, 4) according to the geometric co-ordinates; ii. CNC processing of the core (4, 4), according to the 3D model, in a first CNC processing method; c) joining the at least one first and at least one second portion of the core at the matching joining structures to form the core according to geometric co-ordinates of the casting.
