A method of manufacturing a ceramic matrix composite component includes placing a first impregnated fiber layer on a surface, aligning a second impregnated fiber layer with the first impregnated fiber layer, and joining the first impregnated fiber layer with the second impregnated fiber layer at a plurality of discrete joining regions. The joining of the first and second impregnated fiber layers comprises transferring energy from at least one tool into the first and second impregnated fiber layers at the plurality of discrete joining regions.
Gypsum wallboard with enhanced fire resistance, and related coatings and methods
Disclosed are an organic binder-based coating; a composite gypsum board containing face and back cover sheets, an outside surface of the back cover sheet bearing the coating; and a method of preparing composite board where the back cover sheet contains the coating on its outer surface. The coating is formed from a composition comprising an alkaline silicate, a solid filler, and optionally, a borate. An enhancing layer can also be applied to the back cover sheet.
METHOD OF PREPARATION OF CERAMIC SLURRY FOR USE IN 3D PRINTING AND METHOD OF PREPARATION OF CERAMIC PRODUCT
A method of preparation of a ceramic slurry for use in 3D printing includes steps of: (A) providing a plasticizer and a disperser and mixing the plasticizer and the disperser evenly; (B) mixing the mixture obtained in step (A) with an adhesive, wherein the adhesive is polyvinyl alcohol; and (C) adding a Yttria-stabilized zirconia powder to the mixture obtained in step (B) to produce, by sufficient blending and deaerating, the ceramic slurry for use in 3D printing. A method of preparation of a ceramic product includes steps of: (A) preparing a ceramic slurry with the method; (B) performing 3D printing with the ceramic slurry to form a primary green body; (C) placing the primary green body in a freezer to undergo a refrigeration process, thereby causing crystallization of polyvinyl alcohol; and (D) thawing the frozen primary green body to form a plastic green body with gel structure.
Three-dimensional shaping method
A three-dimensional shaping method includes a molded body forming step of forming a molded body having a plurality of projection portions using a material containing a powder and a binder, a supporting step of supporting the molded body by a support having groove portions at positions configured to insert each of the projection portions in a state where the plurality of projection portions are inserted into the groove portions, and a sintering step of sintering the powder by heating the molded body in a state of being supported by the support, wherein the groove portion is extended from an insertion position of the projection portion in a specified direction that specifies a direction of shrinkage of the molded body by performing the sintering step.
Method for producing transition alumina catalyst monoliths
A method for producing a three-dimensional porous transition alumina catalyst monolith of stacked catalyst fibers, comprising: a) Preparing a paste in a liquid diluent of hydroxide precursor particles and/or oxyhydroxide precursor particles of transition alumina particles, all particles in the suspension having a number average particle size in the range of from 0.05 to 700 μm, b) extruding the paste nozzle(s) to form fibers, and depositing the extruded fibers to form a three-dimensional porous catalyst monolith precursor, c) drying the precursor to remove the liquid diluent, d) performing a temperature treatment of the dried porous catalyst monolith precursor to form the transition alumina catalyst monolith, wherein no temperature treatment of the porous catalyst monolith precursor or porous catalyst monolith at temperatures above 1000° C. is performed and wherein no further catalytically active metals, metal oxides or metal compounds are applied to the surface.
METHOD FOR MANUFACTURING CERAMIC SUSCEPTOR
Disclosed is a method for manufacturing a ceramic susceptor, the method including: preparing ceramic sheets; preparing a lamination structure of a molded body, in which the ceramic sheets are laminated and a conductive metal layer for electrodes is disposed between the ceramic sheet laminated products; and sintering the lamination structure of the molded body, wherein the preparing of the ceramic sheets includes: obtaining a vitrified first additive powder by heat-treating a slurry containing MgO, SiO.sub.2, and CaO; preparing a slurry by mixing an Al.sub.2O.sub.3 powder with the first additive powder, a second additive powder containing a MgO powder, and a third additive powder containing a Y.sub.2O.sub.3 powder; and forming the ceramic sheets by tape casting the slurry.

A paste for ceramic 3D shaping according to the present invention is a paste for ceramic 3D shaping containing a curable resin and inorganic particles, in which the inorganic particles contain ceramic particles and glass particles.
REFRACTORY FILTER
A refractory filter suitable for filtering molten metal, such as steel, and a method and powdered composition for producing said filter. The filter comprises refractory material, said refractory material comprising: 60-90 wt % alumina; 8-30 wt % zirconia; and 3-20 wt % magnesia. The powdered composition comprises: 60-90 wt % alumina; 8-30 wt % zirconia; and 3-20 wt % magnesia, wherein the powdered composition comprises less than 12.5 wt % reactive alumina, calcined alumina or a mixture thereof, and wherein the remainder of the alumina is tabular alumina. The method comprises: providing a powdered composition in accordance with the invention; forming a filter precursor from the powdered composition and a liquid component; and firing the filter precursor to form a refractory filter.

LOW PRESSURE CARBONATION CURING OF CONCRETE ELEMENTS AND PRODUCTS IN AN EXPANDABLE ENCLOSURE
A method for making a carbonated precast concrete product, includes: obtaining a mixture including at least one binder material, an aggregate, and water; molding the mixture into a molded intermediate; demolding the molded intermediate to obtain a demolded intermediate, the demolded intermediate having a first water-to-binder ratio; conditioning the demolded intermediate to provide a conditioned article having a second water-to-binder ratio less than the first water-to-binder ratio of the demolded intermediate; and curing the conditioned article using carbon dioxide at a pressure ranging from an atmospheric pressure to a pressure greater than the atmospheric pressure by at most 10% of the atmospheric pressure. Curing the conditioned article may be done within an expandable enclosure.
