Reduced-pressure treatment systems and methods employing a fluidly isolated pump control unit

Systems, devices, and methods for treating a tissue site on a patient with reduced pressure are presented. In one instance, a reduced-pressure treatment device to treat a tissue site with reduced pressure may include a pump control unit fluidly separate from a collection unit. Pump energy may be provided by the pump control unit to deflect one or more diaphragms within the collection unit to create reduced pressure. Other systems, devices, and methods are presented.

Negative pressure wound therapy pump and canister

An apparatus is including a negative pressure wound therapy pump including a pump housing; and a negative pressure wound therapy canister attached to and readily removable from the pump housing; the canister including a flexible conduit; the canister operable to receive suction generated by the pump; the flexible conduit sized, shaped, and located to interface with the pump housing of the pump such that suction produced by the pump is transmitted to the canister via the flexible conduit.

CONSTANT PRESSURE SYRINGE FOR SURGICAL USE

A closed system for harvesting fat through liposuction, concentrating the aspirate so obtained, and then re-injecting the concentrated fat into a patient comprises as its main components a low pressure cannula having between about 7 to 12 side holes of about 1-2 mm by 2.0 to 4.0 mm, a spring loaded syringe holder with a constant force or coiled ribbon spring to apply a substantially constant pressure over the fill excursion of the plunger, and a preferably flexible collection bag which is also preferably graduated, cylindrical over most of its body and funnel shaped at its bottom, all of which are connected through flexible tubings to a multi-port valve. The multi-port valve has two flutter/duck bill valves which restrict the fluid flow to a one way direction which effectively allows the syringe to be used to pump fat out of a patient and into a collection bag in a continuous manner. After the bags are centrifuged to concentrate the fat, the excess fluids are separated and the valve is re-connected to permit the syringe pump to reverse fluid flow to graft the concentrated fat back into the patient.

LIVESTOCK FERTILIZED-EGG RECOVERY DEVICE

Disclosed is novel means that enables collection of embryos from the uterus of a living livestock animal, especially cattle, easily in a short time with the same accuracy as that achieved by a skilled technician. A livestock embryo collection apparatus of the present invention comprises: two syringes; a liquid transfer line for connecting a perfusate supply section-a syringe I-a balloon catheter-a syringe II-an embryo collection section; a liquid transfer direction control section for controlling the direction of transfer of a perfusate in the liquid transfer line; and a syringe pump control section for controlling pump operation of the two syringes. By this apparatus, injection and removal of the perfusate can be quickly carried out by simultaneous operation of the two syringes by the syringe pump control section and the liquid transfer direction control section that work in a coordinated manner, so that the working time for collection of embryos can be largely reduced, and so that embryos in the uterus of a living animal can be collected easily, quickly, and with the same accuracy as that achieved by a skilled technician.

MALLEABLE SUCTION INSTRUMENT WITH OFFSET POSITION SENSOR

An apparatus such as a suction instrument includes a position sensor proximate to a distal tip of a malleable shaft. A sensor wire couples the position sensor to a processor of an image guided surgery system such that signals generated by the position sensor can be interpreted to determine the position of the surgical instrument. The malleable shaft includes a malleable outer shaft and a flexible inner tube. The flexible inner tube includes a primary lumen that can provide suction, fluid, or various deployable surgical tools, and an inner lumen that holds the sensor wire. Protected within the inner lumen, the sensor wire runs the length of the shaft and exits the inner lumen and passes through a slot in the outer shaft to reach the position sensor. A heat shrink cover wraps the distal tip, sealing the components together and providing an opening suitable for suction.

A method and apparatus are disclosed for dressing a wound. The apparatus comprises a sealing layer comprising at least one orifice, an absorbent layer over the sealing layer, absorbing wound exude and a liquid impermeable, gas permeable filter layer over the absorbent layer.

Waste collection unit

A waste collection unit is provided that comprises a vacuum pump and smoke evacuation system including a blower and blower motor. The vacuum pump, the blower, and the blower motor, create noise. This noise is attenuated in first and second sound attenuating enclosures for the vacuum pump and the blower and blower motor. A cleaning system is also provided with rotating liquid delivery devices. An actuator is operatively coupled to the liquid delivery devices to rotate the liquid delivery devices.

Methods Of Assembling A Manifold For A Medical Waste Collection System

Methods of assembling a manifold for a medical waste collection system. A flapper valve unit is secured to a head of a cap. A filter element is positioned within a shell. Basket hands of the filter element are fitted between first pairs of ribs of the cap skirt. Fingers of the shell are fitted between second pairs of ribs of the cap skirt. The cap is secured to the shell to cover an open distal end of the shell. A drip stop is secured to the proximal end base of the shell to seat within the outlet opening. Ears may be fitted through holes defined by the flapper valve unit and cap holes defined by the cap so as to snap lock to the head of the cap. The hub of the flapper valve unit may be compressed with the ears snap locked to the head of the cap.

Therapy apparatus with integrated fluid conductors and noise attenuation

In one example embodiment, an apparatus may include a panel with integrated fluid channels, wherein the panel and the fluid channel consist only of surfaces that can be manufactured with a straight-pull mold. A port may also be integrated into the panel to facilitate coupling the fluid channel to pneumatic components in an assembly. A seal may be secured to the panel over the fluid channel to form an integrated fluid conductor. The seal is preferably an adhesive label that can also be used for product labeling. Such an apparatus may be used in a control unit of a therapy system, employing several integrated fluid conductors. A method of manufacturing may include molding a panel, wherein the mold forms a channel integral to the panel. The panel and the channel preferably consist of surfaces that can be molded with a straight-pull mold.
