Arrangements and methods for avoiding spreading of infectious agents and improving electric safety and suction performance of a medical aspirator
Vacuum pump (18) for a medical aspirator (10), the pump (18) comprising a tubular member (20); a piston (22) slidably arranged within the tubular member (20); a piston rod (24) connected to the piston (22); and a coupling mechanism (36) for detachably and functionally connecting the piston rod (24) to a motor (38) for driving the pump (18), wherein the piston rod (24) is configured to reciprocate linearly during operation of the pump (18).
Portable device with disposable reservoir for collection of internal fluid after surgery
A system and apparatus for the collection of serous or serosanguinous fluid from a percutaneous site after surgery. A pump unit with one or more pumps or powered sources provide continuous negative pressure suction to draw fluid from the percutaneous site and pumps the fluid into disposable reservoirs with one-way valves that are easy to handle while maintaining sterility and a seal to prevent the loss of vacuum. Air is continuously removed from the reservoirs. Measurement and analysis of the output is performed automatically.
Catheter assembly for blood clots removal
A medical device comprises a catheter and an aspiration pump. The catheter has a hybrid reinforcement to improve performance characteristics. The aspiration pump is cycled to improve aspiration efficacy.
Methods and devices for harvesting and processing connective tissue precursor cells from autologous fat
Methods and devices are disclosed for processing stromal precursor cells (i.e., cells which can differentiate into connective tissue cells, such as in muscles, ligaments, or tendons) which can be obtained from fatty tissue extracts obtained via liposuction. Normal processing of a liposuction extract involves centrifugation, to concentrate the stromal cells into a semi-concentrated form called “spun fat”. That “spun fat” can then be treated by mechanical processing (such as pressure-driven extrusion through 0.5 mm holes) under conditions which can gently pry the stromal cells away from extra-cellular collagen fibers and other debris in the “spun fat”. The extruded mixture is then centrifuged again, to separate a highly-enriched population of stromal cells which is suited for injection back into the patient (along with platelet cells, if desired, to further promote tissue repair or regeneration).
Blood clot removal device, system, and method
The present invention relates to a method of implanting a blood clot removal device in a patient's body, by cutting the skin of the patient's body, dissecting an area of the patient's vascular system, placing the blot clot removal device at the dissected area, and connecting a blood flow passageway of the blood clot removal device to the patient's vascular system to allow circulation of the patient's blood through the blood flow passageway.
OUTFLOW COLLECTION SYSTEMS FOR HYSTEROSCOPIC SURGICAL PROCEDURES
A collection system for collecting outflow from a hysteroscopic surgical procedure includes a surgical drape configured to collect liquid, a collection vessel, a vacuum source, a drape line, a vacuum line, and a filter assembly. The drape line is connected between the surgical drape and the collection vessel. A liquid flow path is defined from the surgical drape, through the drape line, and to the collection vessel. The vacuum line is connected between the vacuum source and the collection vessel. The vacuum source is configured to establish suction to draw liquid from the surgical drape along the liquid flow path. The filter assembly is disposed along the along the liquid flow path and includes a hydrophilic membrane configured to permit passage of liquid along the liquid flow path and impede passage of air along the liquid flow path.
Drainage device comprising a filter cleaning device
A filtering device for removing particles from a bodily fluid of a patient is disclosed. The device is implantable in the patient's body and comprises a tube forming a main fluid passageway for bodily fluid, through which the bodily fluid passes when the tube is implanted, wherein the tube is sized and adapted to be fluidly connected to the bodily fluid. The device further comprises a filter connected to the tube, and a filter cleaning device for cleaning the filter.
Pump device, tube device and method for movement and collection of fluid
A pump device, tube device and method for the aspiration, peristaltic movement and collection of fluid. A rigid tube for drawing fluid connected to a primary flexible tube. The primary flexible tube inserted through a peristaltic pump.
Removable manifold for a medical/surgical waste collection unit
A manifold apparatus and method of opening a valve in a medical/surgical waste collection unit. The manifold includes a base at a proximal end with the base defining an opening off center from an axis of the manifold. The manifold further includes two arcuately spaced tabs, each subtending arcs having different arcuate lengths. The manifold is positioned such that the tabs mate with at least two slots of a lock ring of the waste collection unit so as to cause the opening of the manifold to be, upon insertion into a bore of the waste collection unit, in a specific rotational alignment in the bore. The manifold is rotated within the bore to cause a valve disk to move between a first position in which the valve disk blocks fluid flow through the receiver and a second position in which the valve disk allows fluid flow through the receiver.
IMPLANTABLE FLUID MOVEMENT DEVICE
A method of securing a connecting tube for use in an implantable device for implantation in human or mammal patient, wherein the tube is adapted to move patient fluid or hydraulic treatment fluid from one part of the patient, via the at least one connecting tube to another part of the patient, the connecting tube having a distal end adapted to be located in an organ of the human or mammal patient for drainage of a patient fluid or in a reservoir for movement av hydraulic treatment fluid, from a treatment area of the human or mammal patient into the organ.
