Medical suction device
Systems and methods for a cartridge which may be included in a medical suction device are disclosed herein. In one embodiment, a cartridge may comprise a porous filler material loaded with absorption granules for absorbing liquids, and a hydrophobic liquid barrier which is permeable only to one or more of air and gasses, and positioned within the cartridge so that liquids in the cartridge cannot exit the cartridge. The cartridge may further comprise perforated walls and sealed walls, arranged within the cartridge in an alternating order and orientated parallel to one another and perpendicular to a net flow direction of fluids in the cartridge, and spaced from one another such that passages are formed between the walls.
LIQUID-GAS SEPARATOR
A method and system for separating a flow of matter is shown and described. The system includes one or more flow separation devices, one or more surgical instruments, and one or more suction sources. In some embodiments, the flow of matter comprises biological material. In some embodiments, the flow of matter comprises surgical waste.
EVACUATION SYSTEM
An evacuation system and method for removing and/or treating gaseous and/or particulate byproducts of surgical procedures includes an end effector such as a side vent trocar, an operating room tower or the equivalent, a disposal vessel, a vacuum source and optionally a filter. The end effector may be coupled to the tower by a conduit, the tower may be coupled to the collection tank by a conduit, and the collection tank may be coupled to the vacuum source. Gaseous and/or particulate byproducts may flow from the surgical site through the trocar, conduits, tower tank and filter, and the flow may be regulated at least in part by the components of the system.
SYSTEMS, CATHETERS, AND METHODS FOR TREATING ALONG THE CENTRAL NERVOUS SYSTEM
Systems, catheters, and methods for accessing and treating along the central nervous system are disclosed. An example method may control operation of a pump of pump/filtration system to facilitate removing cerebrospinal fluid from a patient, filtering the cerebrospinal fluid with a filter module to remove waste product, and returning the filtered cerebrospinal fluid to the patient. Operation of the pump may be adjusted based on a value related to a measure sensed by a sensor in communication with a lumen carrying cerebrospinal fluid through the filtration system.
Fluid collection apparatus
A fluid collection apparatus for use in negative pressure wound therapy. The fluid collection apparatus includes a flexible bag having a first opening and a second opening. The bag includes a structure defining a fluid pathway connecting the first opening and the second opening. The pathway is circulative and contributes to orientation independence of the bag in use. The bag further includes a load-bearing component.
TISSUE PROCESSING APPARATUS AND METHOD FOR PROCESSING ADIPOSE TISSUE
A portable apparatus useful for collection and processing of human biological material, such as adipose or cancellous bone material, to prepare a concentrated product (e.g., stromal vascular fraction). The apparatus has a container with a containment volume with a tissue retention volume and a filtrate volume separated by a filter and with a pellet well for collecting concentrate product in the form of a pellet phase from centrifuge processing. The pellet well is accessible only from above when the apparatus is in an access orientation. Collected pellet phase material may be removed from the pellet well by direct aspiration, without suspending the material in a suspension liquid within the container. Access ports may be configured for access only from above the container. The apparatus may include a tissue collector disposed in the disuse retention volume to engage and collect collagen or other stringy tissue. A method of processing adipose tissue to concentrate leuko stromal vascular cells includes multi-step processing using a portable container.
Tissue processing apparatus and method for processing adipose tissue
Harvested adipose tissue is processed in a single-use portable processing container to prepare a centrifuges pellet phase of stromal vascular fraction concentrate, which is selectively removed and disposed in a syringe dispersed in a dispersion medium to prepare an osteoarthritis treatment product.
Harvesting cancellous bone and marrow from distal femur, proximal tibia, distal tibia, or calcaneus using bone press apparatus
Methods of harvesting cancellous bone and bone marrow include extracting loosened cancellous bone and bone marrowincluding a liquid component thereofto a collection container that has a first cup and a suction port to which a suction source is connected. After extraction, the suction source is disconnected and a lid of the collection container is removed and replaced with a lid having a plunger with a press head that is configured to filter the extracted liquid by depressing the plunger toward a bottom of the first cup. The filtered liquid is poured through a suction port into a second cup while depressing the plunger, thereby separating the liquid from a semi-solid mass of cancellous bone that remains. The bone is extracted through a cortical opening in the femur, tibia, or calcaneus, or from an intermedullary canal that is preferably formed by reaming of the tibia using an orthopedic reamer.
Portable negative-pressure device
A portable negative-pressure device including a housing, a piston, a barrier layer and a spring means for forming a first collection chamber and a second collection chamber having a variable volume to form a pressure-reducing region is provided. In the situation of that the exudates have been stored in the first collection chamber, the portable negative-pressure device can still maintain a sufficient negative pressure by continuously compressing the piston, and the second collection chamber will provide an additional liquid storage space.
Device and method for preparing tissue, particularly adipose tissue
A device and a method for preparing adipose tissue for transplantation from lobular fat extracted, for instance by liposuction, the fat including a fluid component that have an oily component, a blood component and/or sterile solutions, and a solid component including cell fragments, cells and one or more cell macroagglomerates of heterogeneous size, wherein the device includes at least one washing and separating container having a washing chamber, the container has an inlet and an outlet for the liposuctioned material to enter the washing chamber through the inlet and for at least part of the material to exit the washing chamber through the outlet, the washing chamber including stirring means for forming an emulsion of fluid components.
