Continuous mixer and method of mixing reinforcing fibers with cementitious materials

A method in which a stream of dry cementitious powder passes through a first conduit and aqueous medium stream passes through a second conduit to feed a slurry mixer to make cementitious slurry. The cementitious slurry passes through a third conduit and a reinforcement fiber stream passes through a fourth conduit to feed a fiber-slurry mixer which mixes the slurry and discrete fibers to make a stream of fiber-slurry mixture. An apparatus for performing the method is also disclosed.

Method and Device for Increasing the Force Required to Separate a Solidified Deformable Material into at Least Two Portions

A method for increasing the force required to separate a solidified deformable material into at least two portions includes adding unmodified fibers and/or modified fibers having high tensile strength, high modulus of elasticity and high shock resistance to the deformable material; the modified fibers having surfaces with integral protuberances and/or attached silica particles emanating from each surface. The modified fibers, when mixed with the deformable material, ultimately form a solidified matrix having increased tensile strength (when compared to the solidified material without having the modified fibers) and increased resistance to separating into two or more portions when a force impacts or strikes a portion of the solidified deformable material.

The present invention is related to materials of construction in the technical field of architecture and civil engineering, known as construction material for masonry; specifically, it is a compound made with a mixture of biodegradable cellulose matrix which is obtained from recyclable materials through an innovative method. Such compound, reaches higher resistance to compression in comparison to the known quality standards, even thought the resultant clusters, blocks or bricks, etc., are lighter due to their high cellulose content. This compound might be used, but not limited to, as raw material to produce hollow bricks, blocks, clusters and other conglomerates to build houses and buildings.

Twisted reinforcement fibers and method of making

A concrete structure formed of a mixture of concrete and a plurality of custom manufactured twisted steel micro-reinforcements (TSMRs). Each TSMR has a twist pitch of two or more twists per 25.4 mm applied along its longitudinal axis. The TSMRs are made from a common base stock and have the number of twists predetermined such that a concrete structure formed with at least 10 wt. % per unit volume less TSMRs than fibers in a conventional concrete structure exhibits the same or better performance than the conventional concrete structure in one or more of a stress, deflection, energy, or crack mouth opening (CMOD) properties as determined through defined standard tests. The performance requirement may be based on the actual test result and/or the consistency (coefficient of variation of the result).

Apparatus for manufacturing fiber-reinforced concrete through shooting after inserting bubbles into normal concrete and method for manufacturing same

The present invention relates to an apparatus for manufacturing fiber-reinforced concrete through shooting after inserting bubbles into normal concrete and a method for manufacturing the same, which: form fiber-mixed concrete in which the bubbles, fiber-mixed materials, and silica fume are mixed in the normal concrete or form the fiber-mixed concrete in which aggregates, water, and the bubbles are put into and mixed with a mixture, in which cement, the fiber-mixed materials, and silica fume are mixed; and then shoots the fiber-reinforced concrete in which excessive air included in the fiber-mixed concrete is reduced by spraying the fiber-mixed concrete with the high-pressure air when the fiber-mixed concrete is discharged, and of which a slump, drastically increased due to the large amount of bubbles, is reduced to a range of the slump of the normal concrete, thereby improving the production capacity of the fiber-reinforced concrete and shortening operating time.

Method for producing fiber reinforced cementitious slurry using a multi-state continuous mixer

A method in which a stream of dry cementitious powder from a dry powder feeder passes through a dry cementitious powder inlet conduit to feed a first feed section of a fiber-slurry mixer. An aqueous medium stream passes through at least one aqueous medium stream conduit to feed a first mixing section the fiber-slurry mixer. A stream of reinforcing fibers passes from a fiber feeder through a reinforcing fibers stream conduit to feed a second mixing section of the fiber-slurry mixer. The stream of dry cementitious powder, aqueous medium stream, and stream of reinforcing fibers combine in the fiber-slurry mixer to make a stream of fiber-cement mixture which discharges through a discharge conduit at a downstream end of the mixer.

A composite material used to form a concrete structure that includes a concrete matrix formed of a mixture of aggregates and a paste and a mixture of twisted steel micro-reinforcements (TSMRs) dispersed within the concrete matrix. The TSMRs have a variable twist pitch; wherein the twist pitch of a portion of the TSMRs is in the range of 6 to 20 twists per 25.4 mm (1 inch) applied along its longitudinal axis. The TSMRs are made from a common base stock and have the number of twists predetermined, such that the concrete structure exhibits at least 10% greater performance in one or more of a stress, deflection, energy, or crack mouth opening (CMOD) properties as determined through one or more defined standard tests than a similar concrete structure formed with the same amount by weight of steel fibers having one or two bends.
