SYRINGE
20200179167 · 2020-06-11 ·

The invention provides a syringe for use in an ophthalmic injection. The syringe comprises a body, a stopper and a plunger. The body comprises an outlet at an outlet end and the stopper is arranged within the body such that a front surface of the stopper and the body define a variable volume chamber from which a fluid can be expelled though the outlet. The plunger comprises a plunger contact surface at a first end and a rod extends between the plunger contact surface and a rear portion. The plunger contact surface is arranged to contact the stopper but not couple thereto, such that the plunger can be used to force the stopper towards the outlet end of the body, reducing the volume of the variable volume chamber, but not to move the stopper away from the outlet end.

DRUG DELIVERY SYSTEMS WITH SEALED AND STERILE FLUID PATHS AND METHODS OF PROVIDING THE SAME
20200171239 · 2020-06-04 ·

The present disclosure relates generally to the field of drug delivery. In particular, the present disclosure relates to a drug delivery system that includes a sealed and sterile fluid path attached to a drug-loaded container. The disclosure further relates to methods for sterilizing a portion of the drug delivery system without exposing the drug-loaded container to harmful sterilization parameters.

INJECTION SYSTEMS AND METHODS

Injection systems and methods of using the same are described herein. Each injection system may include one, two, or more needles, with each needle being configured to move needle between an injection position and a retracted position to deliver an inoculant. The injection needles may rotate about a carriage axis that extends through the injection axis along which each needle moves when moving between their injection and retracted positions. The injection needles in systems that include two or more injection needles may be advanced from the retracted position to the injection position at the same or different times.

NEEDLELESS CONNECTOR WITH ANTIMICROBIAL PROPERTIES
20200139103 · 2020-05-07 ·

A needleless connector and methods for preventing microbial ingress in medical device connections are disclosed. Various examples provide a needleless connector including a male luer having a recessed distal tip surface containing a water-soluble antimicrobial composition. Further examples include a trap for retaining antimicrobial composition. As the needleless connector is inserted into a female connector, a tapered surface distal edge acts to push microorganisms, while the distal tip surface is configured to leave microorganisms undisturbed. After insertion of the needleless connector, microorganisms present on the female luer surface are biased to reside in the recess region. The recess, trap, and antimicrobial composition are configured to facilitate a long-lasting supply of antimicrobial solution within the fluid-filled recess, at the same time confining the antimicrobial solution inside the recess. This produces a high concentration of antimicrobial solution for an extended time, killing microbes, stopping microbial ingress, and preventing infections in patients.

PORTABLE SELF SANITIZING MICRONEEDLE DEVICE
20200129747 · 2020-04-30 ·

A portable, self-sanitizing microneedle device similar in size and shape to a pen, or marker that can be held and manipulated by a human hand. The microneedle device is comprised of a main body with a handle attached to a circular base support structure, a second circular platform structure having screw threads to connect with screw threads on the inside of a substantially conical-shaped cap with a hexagonal base that holds a disinfecting solution, and a third circular platform structure comprising the microneedle support structure covered with a substrate holding a plurality of microneedles. The cap is sealingly and removably attached to the base support structure over the microneedle array using a plurality of sealing surfaces within the cap and on the support structures to create a tight seal that prevents the leakage of the disinfecting solution, and keeps the microneedles sanitized for use at all times, even when traveling.

METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR DELIVERING A THERAPEUTIC SUBSTANCE THROUGH AN INJECTION PORT

Adapters for utilizing a syringe or pen injector with a subcutaneous injection port to deliver a therapeutic substance through the injection port and methods of using the adapters are provided. A syringe adapter has a body having a first end and a second end. The first end of the body is configured to receive and engage the end of a syringe so that the cannula of the syringe is held at a fixed position with the respect to the adapter. The second end of the adapter configured to mate with a mating portion of the injection port. When the second end of the adapter engages the mating portion of the injection port, the adapter assures that the cannula of the syringe is properly aligned with the subcutaneous injection port and aasures that the cannula penetrates the injection port to the proper depth. Adapters for use with pen style delivery systems are also disclosed. Additionally, an adapter to facilitate loading a syringe with a therapeutic substance from a vial is disclosed.

ANTISEPTIC CAP

A syringe assembly including: (1) a syringe barrel defining a chamber; (2) a plunger mounted in the chamber and moveable with respect to the barrel; and (3) a cap holder assembly containing a cap and an absorbent material removably attached to the syringe.
