Process and apparatus for direct crystallization of polycondensates
The present invention relates to a process for continuous production of partly crystalline polycondensate pellet material, comprising the steps of forming a polycondensate melt into pellet material; separating the liquid cooling medium from the pellet material in a first treatment space, wherein the pellets after exit from the first treatment space exhibit a temperature T.sub.GR, and crystallizing the pellet material in a second treatment space, wherein in the second treatment space fluidized bed conditions exist, and in the second treatment space the pellets are heated by supply of energy from the exterior by means of a process gas.
REDUCING MOISTURE IN GRANULAR RESIN MATERIAL USING INERT GAS
An apparatus for drying granular resin material in a hopper including a first sub-system, including a membrane and a heater receiving drying gas from the membrane to be heated, the first sub-system supplying dried heated gas to a first portion of the hopper; and a second sub-system, including a mixing device and a heater for receiving drying gas from the mixing device to be heated, the mixing device inducing withdrawal of gas from the hopper and mixing the withdrawn gas with gas supplied from the first subsystem, the mixed gases being heated and supplied to a second portion of the hopper, the improvement comprising a gas separation membrane for separating inert gases from air supplied to the apparatus and providing the separated inert gas in the first subsystem; a heater for heating air supplied to the apparatus; and a thermostat for controlling the heater and thereby maintaining the supplied air at a selected temperature.
Saponified ethylene-vinyl ester copolymer pellet and method for producing same
Provided is an EVOH resin pellet which is capable of reducing the occurrence of fish eyes in a melt molded article of an EVOH resin. The occurrence of fish eyes in a melt molded article such as a film that is produced by melt molding using pellets is able to be suppressed by setting the abundance of a conjugated polyene in a surface portion of the pellet to an intended amount or more.
Polymer Powder and Method of Preparing the Same
A powder composition suitable for use in laser sintering for printing a three-dimensional object. The powder composition includes a polyaryletherketone (PAEK) powder having a plurality of particles. The plurality of particles having a mean diameter of D50. The composition includes a plurality of carbon fibers having a mean length L50. L50 is greater than D50. The particles are substantially non-spherical. A portion of the carbon fiber is embedded into the particle via high intensity mixing.
Powder bed fusing thermoplastic polymers
A method comprising: providing a powder composition including at least one ultrafine, spherical thermoplastic polymer powder having a glass transition temperature (Tg) of at least 150 degrees C.; and powder bed fusing the powder composition to form a three-dimensional article.

Curable unsaturated crystalline polyester powder and methods of making the same
A process for producing unsaturated polyester microparticles comprising: melt-mixing an unsaturated polyester and an oil in an extruder; washing the microparticles with an organic solvent to reduce the amount of oil; and removing the organic solvent to form the microparticles.
CONDUCTIVE THERMOPLASTIC POLYCARBONATE/ACRYLONITRILE BUTADIENE STYRENE (PC/ABS) POLYMER WITH NANOMATERIALS AND ARTICLES AND METHODS THEREOF
An electrically conductive thermoplastic composition comprised of at least one thermoplastic polycarbonate/acrylonitrile-butadiene-styrene (PC/ABS) polymer, at least one electrically conductive material containing carbon nanostructures or nanomaterials, and optionally at least one ethylene/alkyl-(meth)acrylate copolymer. The conductive thermoplastic composition can be injection molded and/or printable using additive manufacturing techniques.
PROCESS FOR OBTAINING LOW VOLATILE PLASTOMERS
A process for reducing the volatile organic compound content of granular plastomers having a density of equal to or lower than 883 kg/m.sup.3 and a MFR.sub.2 of 100.0 g/10 min or lower (ISO 1133 at 2.16 kg load and 190 C.), to below 65 ppm (VOC, VDA277), the process comprising the steps of providing a granular raw plastomer in a treatment vessel, the granular raw plastomer having a density of equal to or lower than 883 kg/m.sup.3, and a MFR.sub.2 of 100.0 g/10 min or lower (ISO 1133 at 2.16 kg load and 190 C.), and a volatile organic compound content (VOC, VDA277) of above 150 ppm, subjecting said granular raw plastomer to a gasflow within the range of 30 m.sup.3/(h t) to 150 m.sup.3/(h t) for an aeration time of less than 96 hours, whereby the gas has a minimum temperature of at least 26 C. measured at a gas inlet of the treatment vessel and a maximum temperature of 4 C. below the Vicat temperature (10 N, ISO 306) of the granular raw plastomer or 35 C. measured at the gas inlet of the treatment vessel, whatever value is lower; and recovering the granular plastomer.
ETHYLENE VINYL ALCOHOL COPOLYMER PELLET, METHOD FOR EXTRUSION OF THE PELLET AND EXTRUSION MOLDED FILM PRODUCED THEREBY
Extruded films comprising ethylene vinyl alcohol copolymer (EVOH) with substantially no blow holes therein, are formed by using a pellet feed to the extruder wherein 90-100 wt. % of the pellets pass through an ASTM size 5 sieve and 0-10 wt. % of the pellets are finer than a number 10 mesh (ASTM Sieve size). Uniform feeding to and through the extruder with a lack of bridging of the EVOH pellet feed have been observed.
