Recycled aluminum with glass fiber reinforced polylactic acid (PLA) bioplastic for an information handling system

Disclosed is a covering for an information handling system. The covering includes a first layer and a second layer. The first layer is a polylactic acid layer that can be reinforced with a reinforcing component, such as glass fibers. The second layer is an aluminum layer, and can include at least 50% recycled aluminum. The outer surface of the first layer may be provided with a graphene-containing coating that can help improve thermal management.

Bonded Insulation Product Batt From Spent Carpet And Waste
20180094763 · 2018-04-05 ·

A thermal insulation batt is created from recycled carpet fibers and fire resistant cotton shoddy bonded by staples of bi-component fiber having a polyester core and low melting polymeric sheath. The low melting polymeric sheath melts at a temperature well below the melting or degradation temperature of any of the carpet fibers from the recycled carpets. Since the sheath has a small thickness, the amount of melt created is small and bonding occurs only between the bi-component staple fiber and adjacent carpet fiber or fire resistant cotton shoddy without melt overflow. The rigidized thermal insulation batt can be used in a building between studs and may be used in an automobile door for sound proofing. This product is particularly well suited for use as acoustic and thermal insulation in buildings as non-load bearing partitions in interior offices of commercial buildings. This bonded low density composite fibrous structure has fire retarding constituents incorporated within the batt to retard propagation of building fire. These stated uses are non-limiting; and other uses are contemplated, including automobile interior structures.

METHOD FOR PRODUCING FIBER-REINFORCED COMPONENTS OR SEMI-FINISHED PRODUCTS

A process for the production of fiber-reinforced components or semifinished products is provided, where fibers are saturated with monomer. The process includes at least one of adding flakes including fibers and adding individual fibers. For this, the fibers, the monomer, and the flakes including fibers and/or the individual fibers are added to an injection-molding machine and forced into an injection mold, whereupon polymerization of the monomer is completed in the injection mold. Alternatively a fiber structure on a conveyor belt is saturated with a solution including a monomer, optionally including an activator, and optionally including a catalyst. In a following step, individual fibers and/or flakes including fibers are distributed on the saturated fiber structure, the fiber structure is passed through a roll pair in which pressure is exerted onto the fiber structure, and finally the saturated fiber structure is cooled so that the monomer solidifies.

Process for the production of press compounds (BMC) from unhardened prepreg wastes
20180022887 · 2018-01-25 ·

A process for the recycling of wastes from webs or strands made of prepreg wastes comprising a first reactive resin, having the following steps: homogenization of prepreg wastes, dispersion of fillers and/or additives in a second reactive resin, mixing of the second resin, homogenized prepreg wastes and further processing of the mixture of resin, fillers and/or additives and prepreg wastes to produce molded workpieces.

Article made from post consumer resin with smooth surface finish

The present disclosure provides a process. In an embodiment, the process includes providing pellets of a regrind material. The regrind material is a post-consumer recycle multilayer film (PCR multilayer film) having at least three layers. The PCR multilayer film is composed of (i) a polyethylene layer, (ii) a polyamide layer, and (iii) a tie layer. The tie layer is composed of maleic anhydride grafted substantially linear ethylene polymer (MAH-g-SLEP) having a Mw/Mn from 1.5 to less than 3.5 and a melt index from 0.5 g/10 min to less than 25 g/10 min. The process includes extruding the pellets to form an extrudate, molding the extrudate, and forming, with the extrudate, a molded article having a surface. The surface of the molded article has a surface roughness value, Sa, less than 1000 nm and a root mean square roughness value, Sq, less than 1400 nm.

Process and Machine for Releasing Curve Memory in a Reclaimed Tire Strip
20240408797 · 2024-12-12 · ·

A machine and process for producing a block of construction material from harvested tire tread strips by receiving a strip of flexible material having a radial curvature memory in a first direction, perforating the strip of flexible material to produce crosswise plunge cuts into the flexible material from at least a first surface, wherein each crosswise cut each extends laterally across the width of the strip of flexible material, and wherein a depth of each crosswise cut is less than the thickness of the strip of flexible material; and bending the perforated strip of flexible material in a first curvature, wherein the first curvature produces a convex shape on the first surface, wherein the bending is along a longitudinal direction of the strip of flexible material, and wherein a bending force applied to the strip is sufficient to break some of the flexible material contributing to the radial curvature memory.

Converting recyclable materials into manufacturing products

A method of processing municipal solid waste includes extracting food waste, inert materials, and ferrous and non-ferrous metals from the municipal solid waste, shredding the municipal solid waste and thereby generating a product feed comprising at least 99.7% by volume cellulose-based materials and plastic. The product feed is conveyed to a forming system and a manufacturing product is created out of the product feed with the forming system.

Method of recycling tires
12162191 · 2024-12-10 ·

A method of recycling tires places tires and/or pieces of tires within a casing or mold. A binder (e.g. adhesives and/or pining with screws, nails, nuts and bolts, pins, wire and steel or nylon bands etc) is applied to the tires and/or pieces of tires so that the tires are bound together. A reinforcing means is applied to the tires and/or pieces of tires (e.g. fitting the reinforcing means around, in between and/or through the tires etc). An encapsulating means is melted and poured over the top of the tires and reinforcing means to encapsulate them inside the casing or mold and the encapsulating means. The encapsulating means is allowed to set such that a recycled product is formed.
