Provided are a rubber material supplying method and a rubber material supplying device, whereby a rubber material can be smoothly supplied to a rubber inlet even when the width of the rubber material is greater than the width of the rubber inlet. The rubber material supplying method includes a separation step S1, a processing step S2, and an input step S3. In the separation step S1, a plurality of different cutouts 30 are formed in a leading end section GF of a rubber material G, and the leading end section GF is separated into three or more strip shape sections 31. In the processing step S2, second strip shape sections B, and not first strip shape sections 31A, among the plurality of strip sections 31 are each cut out or folded. In the input step S3, the leading end section GF is input to the rubber inlet 3A from the first strip shape sections 31A.

Composite structure fabrication systems and methods

Composite structure fabrication systems and methods. The systems include a plurality of ply carriers, each of which is configured to support at least one ply segment, and an elongate forming mandrel, which defines an elongate ply forming surface that is shaped to define a surface contour of the composite structure. The systems further include a carrier transfer device, which is configured to selectively convey a selected ply carrier from a ply kitting area to an intermediate location, and a forming machine, which is configured to deform the selected ply carrier and a respective ply segment over a selected portion of the elongate ply forming surface. The forming machine further is configured to separate the selected ply carrier from the respective ply segment and return the selected ply carrier to the carrier transfer device. The methods include methods of operating the systems.

Fixture and method for use in a molding process

A preform-charge fixture creates a preform charge, which is a partially consolidated assemblage of preforms that can be efficiently transferred to a mold to create a finished part in a molding process, such as compression molding. In the illustrative embodiment, the preform-charge fixture includes peripheral cleats that are movable towards a central cleat to create a small gap therebetween that receives and constrains preforms in a desired position. The fixture also includes clamps, which are operable to engage an uppermost layer of preforms in the gap and apply a slight amount of downward pressure thereto to assure that the preforms are properly seated. The fixture also accommodates an energy source that heats the preforms so that, in conjunction with downforce applied by the clamps and/or gravity, the preforms can be tacked together, forming the preform charge.

AUTO-ALIGNING VACUUM PRESS

Auto-aligning vacuum presses, that include a mobile assembly with a first platen, a vacuum docking station with a second platen, a first locating device to guide the mobile assembly to a desired location along the Y-axis as the mobile assembly moves along the X-axis into the vacuum station, and a second locating device to guide one of the first and second platens along the Z-axis into sealing engagement with the other platen.

COMPOSITE MANUFACTURING APPARATUS

A composite manufacturing apparatus includes a width determining mechanism and a gas supplier. The width determining mechanism has a body and a gas passage. The body has a path configured to allow a tape material including fibers impregnated with a resin to pass therethrough. The path has a bottom surface and a pair of wall surfaces. The pair of the wall surfaces form a gap that gradually decreases. The gas passage is provided inside the body and formed by the bottom surface having a plurality of through holes, and is in communication with the plurality of through holes. The gas supplier is configured to supply gas to the gas pass age.
