A medical hand and arm protection apparatus and method of protection including a protective shell which is capable of receiving a patient's hand and arm. A sheet is attached to the protective shell, which is tucked under the patient to anchor the hand and arm protector in place. The protective shell also has one or more perforations that allow the medical professional access to the interior of the surgical arm protector to view the patient's IV sites and other medical equipment attached to the patient's hand or arm.
