Method for demoulding a composite material with an organic matrix

An injection tooling is configured to inject a polymer resin into a fiber preform for fabricating a part in the form of a body of revolution out of composite material, the part having an internal cavity with back-draft. In order to enable the part to be unmolded after the polymer resin has been injected and polymerized, the tooling includes, arranged at least in the internal cavity, firstly a sectorized ring made up of at least three mutually touching inserts including one forming a keystone, the ring having an outside surface that matches the internal cavity with back-draft and an inside surface that presents natural draft, and secondly a conical drum secured to the inside surface of the sectorized ring to support it and that is withdrawn, once separated from the sectorized ring, relying on the natural draft created by the inside surface of the sectorized ring.

A mold for use in fabricating a gas turbine fan casing out of composite material includes a mandrel for having wound thereon a fiber preform of a fan casing and an annular wall with an outside surface of profile corresponding to the profile of the inside surface of the casing that is to be fabricated and of two lateral rims of profiles corresponding to the profiles of outer flanges of the casing that is to be fabricated; a plurality of mold cover angular sectors that are assembled in leaktight manner on the mandrel and that are to close the mold and to compact the fiber preform wound on the mandrel; and a plurality of locking keys configured to lock together in leaktight manner neighboring mold cover sectors. A method of closing such a mold, and a method of fabricating a fan casing are included.

A reusable countertop mold in accordance with the present invention includes a bracket member detachably secured to a rail portion of a cabinet member for a substantially horizontal substrate that receives deformable material upon a surface of the substrate. The bracket member includes vertical, horizontal and channel members integrally joined together for enabling a channel member to removably receive the rail member. The mold further includes a locking bolt for detachably securing the bracket member to the rail portion of the support member. A form member is detachably secured to the bracket member, the form member continuously extending outside the perimeter of the substrate and receives deformable material that ultimately solidifies; whereby, the substrate surface and the form member cooperate to configure a countertop that continuously extends upon and outside the perimeter of the substrate, thereby forming a countertop having an integrally joined overhang portion; whereupon, the reusable countertop mold is removed from the solidified countertop overhang portion and the rail portion.

The present inventive concept relates to a method of manufacturing a pipe packing inserted into a housing having a hollow body shape to prevent fluid flowing inside a pipe from leaking to the outside, the method including: manufacturing the pipe packing by injecting molten rubber into a mold assembly having an outer mold and an inner mold, wherein the pipe packing is configured as a hollow body and comprises an outer circumferential part located outside of the pipe relative thereto, opposite surfaces provided in directions toward a middle of the pipe packing at opposite ends of the outer circumferential part, and an inner circumferential part provided toward a center portion of the opposite surfaces therefrom, wherein the inner circumferential part has a gap provided therein to be divided into opposite inner circumferential parts.

A method for simultaneous manufacture of a plurality of composite structures includes providing an interchangeable mold template having a plurality of three-dimensional part shapes, fastening the interchangeable mold template to a backbone structure, laying up prepreg material over the interchangeable mold template to form a material layer, repeating laying up prepreg material to form a plurality of material layers each having a predetermined fiber orientation, and curing the plurality of material layers on the interchangeable mold template to form a plurality of structures corresponding to the three-dimensional part shapes.

The transfer system may be transferred from the expandable tool with the surface in the expanded state to the outer mold line tool.

The setup device for the purpose of reinforcement includes several stringers arranged so as to be spaced apart from each other. The stringers include a base structure to form a load-bearing rigid substructure that is connected to an outwardly curved supporting surface that can be adjusted by means of actuators for the positive setup of the fuselage barrel to be manufactured with the help of form channels for accommodating the stringers. The actuators, designed as pressure-means cylinders, move one or several form channels in radial direction. The form channels are interconnected longitudinally by means of a flexible intermediate element for forming a ring-shaped supporting surface that is closed in a vacuum-tight manner and that overall is able to adjust itself in radial direction.

A method of vacuum forming an object includes heating a plastic sheet. After heating the plastic sheet, a vacuum is applied to pull the sheet against an outer surface of a flexible mold so that the plastic sheet has a formed shape that conforms to a contoured shape of the outer surface of the flexible mold. A rigid core is withdrawn from a cavity in the flexible mold. The flexible mold is then withdrawn from the plastic sheet by applying force to the flexible mold in a single direction, thereby causing flexing of the flexible mold past the undercut. An apparatus for vacuum forming a plastic sheet includes the flexible mold.
