A nebulizer has an aperture plate, a mounting, an actuator, and an aperture plate drive circuit (2-4). A controller measures an electrical drive parameter at each of a plurality of measuring points, each measuring point having a drive frequency; and based on the values of the parameter at the measuring points makes a determination of optimum drive frequency and also an end-of-dose prediction. The controller performs a short scan at regular sub-second intervals at which drive current is measured at two measuring points with different drive frequencies. According to drive parameter measurements at these points the controller determines if a full scan sweeping across a larger number of measuring points should be performed. The full scan provides the optimum drive frequency for the device and also an end of dose indication.

DROPLET DELIVERY DEVICE FOR DELIVERY OF FLUIDS TO THE PULMONARY SYSTEM AND METHODS OF USE

A droplet delivery device and related methods for delivering precise and repeatable dosages to a subject for pulmonary use is disclosed. The droplet delivery device includes a housing, a reservoir, and ejector mechanism, and at least one differential pressure sensor. The droplet delivery device is automatically breath actuated by the user when the differential pressure sensor senses a predetermined pressure change within housing. The droplet delivery device is then actuated to generate a stream of droplets having an average ejected droplet diameter within the respirable size range, e.g, less than about 5 μm, so as to target the pulmonary system of the user.

AGENT DELIVERY SYSTEMS AND METHODS OF USING THE SAME

A medical device that includes a handle for conveying an agent having particles and a receiver having a first lumen defined by a first end and a second end. The receiver having an axis extending between the first end and the second end. The first end configured to receive the particles from the handle, and the second end in fluid communication with a second lumen having a cross-sectional dimension smaller than a cross-sectional dimension of the first lumen. Each of the cross-sectional dimensions of the first lumen and the second lumen is measured transverse to the axis. The second end is configured to receive the particles from the first end of the receiver. The second lumen is configured to control delivery of the agent to a delivery conduit in fluid communication with the second lumen based on sizes of the particles.

A medication dispenser includes a base seat, a circuitry unit and an outer casing. The base seat includes a mouthpiece. The circuitry unit includes a first circuit board, a battery, and first and second switches disposed on the first circuit board. The outer casing is movable relative to the base seat between a close position where the outer casing covers the mouthpiece and where the first switch is actuated such that electric power is prevented from being supplied from the battery to the first circuit board, and an open position where the outer casing uncovers the mouthpiece and where the second switch is actuated such that electric power is supplied from the battery to the first circuit board.

Provided is a flavor inhaler comprising: an atomizing unit that generates an aerosol from an aerosol source; a flavor source provided downstream from the atomizing unit; a mouthpiece section provided downstream from the flavor source; a control unit that controls the atomizing unit; an aerosol flow path leading to the mouthpiece section from the atomizing unit; and an information source for holding identification information associated with a correction value for correcting a reference aerosol amount that is the amount of aerosol generated by the atomizing unit and that is an amount designed in advance. The aerosol flow path branches between the atomizing unit and the flavor source into a first branch flow path through which the flavor source passes and a second branch flow path that differs from the first branch flow path. The correction value is a value relating to a flow rate ratio that is the flow rate in the first branch flow path relative to a predetermined flow rate when the mouthpiece section is sucked at a predetermined flow rate. The control unit controls the atomizing unit on the basis of a target aerosol amount calculated on the basis of the reference aerosol amount and the correction value.

A vibration generator (17) being attached to the substrate (11) at a position spaced from the channel (12) for generating high frequency vibration that transmits through the substrate (11) to the channel (12) to atomise fluid within the channel (12). A feeding facility (15) being provided for feeding fluid to the channel (12).

A process and a nebulizer for dispensing a consecutively dose of medicament in the form of a mist, comprising: an energy source (ES), an air-conditioning volume, an air outlet fluidity connected to the air-containing volume, an air actuator adapted to release a flow of compressed air through the air outlet at such time as a predetermined ES pressure has been reached in the volume and at least two valve means in communication with the air actuator. The compressed air is released at a predetermined pressure of about 20 to about 100 psig. The valve means controls the actuation of the air actuator such that when a medication is nebulized, a mist distribution of a medication is formed having droplets size in the range of approximately 1μ to approximately 7μ which inhaled by a user at a set of predetermined intervals.

Advantageously, at least one, preferably two selection side windows (24) are provided on the upper component (2a), the opening of said selection side windows (24) being shielded by shielding means (16), moved by a command shaft (17).
