ADHESIVE APPLICATION DEVICE AND METHOD OF APPLYING ADHESIVE
An adhesive application device includes a coater and an air conditioning device. The coater includes a roll and a roll temperature control device. The roll has an elongated shape having an axis and outer surface and is rotatable around the axis. The roll holds thermosetting adhesive on the outer surface and applies the thermosetting adhesive to an application surface of a sheet member with the first roll being rotated and contacted with the sheet member. The roll temperature control device is disposed adjacent to the roll and configured to lower temperature of the outer surface of the roll to control viscosity of the thermosetting adhesive held by the roll to be appropriate application viscosity that is appropriate for application to the sheet member. The air conditioning device is configured to adjust temperature and humidity of air in a space near the coater.
Rapid heat cycle molding
A method for rapid heat cycle compression molding comprises placing an assemblage of feed constituents in a mold, placing the mold between two hot platens of a hot press, heating the mold by pressing the two hot platens against the mold, placing the mold between two cold platens of a cold press, cooling the mold by pressing the two cold platens against the mold, and ejecting the part from the mold.
Nested elliptic reflector for curing optical fibers
Methods and systems are provided for ultra-violet curing, and in particular, for ultra-violet curing of optical fiber surface coatings. In one example, a curing device includes a first elliptic cylindrical reflector, with a second elliptic cylindrical reflector housed within the first elliptic cylindrical reflector. The first elliptic cylindrical reflector and second elliptic cylindrical reflector have a co-located focus, and a workpiece to be cured by the curing device may be arranged at the co-located focus.
Liquid Cooling for Pellet Extruder in a Fused Deposition Modeling System
In the context of a system that uses a pellet-type extruder head to form solid objects by moving the extruder relative to a build surface while melting and extruding pellets of raw material, systems and methods are provided which comprise cooling at least a portion of a pathway by which pellets of raw material are conveyed to a rotating extruder lead screw of the extruder head.
Method for finding a target conveying capacity of a pumping system
A method of finding a target conveying capacity of a pumping includes a temperature-control flow through a temperature-control channel carried out according to a control variable by using a throttle as an actuating element such that a temperature-control volume flow remains substantially constant. A conveying flow of the pumping system is measured, and a pump starting from a starting conveying capacity independent of the control of the temperature-control volume flow is driven such that a conveying capacity of the pumping system is reduced to a reduced conveying capacity. Then, a check is made to find whether the conveying flow remains substantially constant and, if this is the case, the reduced conveying capacity is determined to be the target conveying capacity. If this is not the case despite the control of the temperature-control volume flow, the starting conveying capacity is determined to be the target conveying capacity.
Mould assembly for forming a spliced joint in a handrail, or other elongate article
A core mould element can be mounted between first and second mould parts. The first and second mould parts and the core mould element can be mounted between first and second thermal platens. The thermal platens can have generally planar faces for mounting in a press, for maintaining a desired pressure within the mould assembly. The thermal platens can provide for heating and cooling the mould assembly, and each can include a central portion and end portions, with thermal breaks between the central portion and the end portions. Bores can extend through the central and end portions, for receiving heating elements and pipes for cooling fluid. The end portions can include bores for a cooling fluid for cooling the end portions.
Liquid cooling for pellet extruder in a fused deposition modeling system
In the context of a system that uses a pellet-type extruder head to form solid objects by moving the extruder relative to a build surface while melting and extruding pellets of raw material, systems and methods are provided which comprise cooling at least a portion of a pathway by which the pellets of raw material are conveyed to a rotating extruder lead screw of the extruder head.
Process to manufacture carbon fiber intermediate products in-line with carbon fiber production
A process of preparing carbon fiber reinforced polymer (CFRP) intermediate products is described wherein the carbon fibers are prepared from a carbon fiber precursor and then in-line impregnated with a polymeric resin as part of a continuous process. The process can provide cost savings compared to processes wherein carbon fibers are prepared and then impregnated with polymeric resins in a separate process, thereby making the use of CFRP materials more economically feasible. Also described is a system for preparing carbon fiber from a carbon fiber precursor and impregnating the carbon fiber with polymeric resin to provide CFRP intermediate products, such as continuous tapes or rods or discontinuous flakes or pellets.
Shaping device and production method for shaped object
In a shaping device, a sheet that distends due to being irradiated with electromagnetic waves is placed a conveyor belt. An irradiator irradiates the sheet placed on and conveyed by the conveyor belt with electromagnetic waves. At least one heater heats the conveyor belt.
Processing apparatus for elongated structure and manufacturing method for elongated structure
An apparatus for processing an elongated structure includes a mold within which an uncross-linked rubber material is placed, at least one heating unit configured to heat the mold, and a pressure device configured to press the rubber material using the mold heated by the heating unit to promote shaping the rubber material by the mold while proceeding the cross-linking of the rubber material. The heating unit includes a central heating device configured to heat a longitudinal central portion of the mold, multiple cooling devices configured to cool two longitudinal end portions of the mold, multiple intermediate heating devices configured to heat two intermediate portions between the longitudinal central portion and the longitudinal end portions of the mold, heat shield plates disposed between the central heating device and the intermediate heating devices, and heat shield plates disposed between the cooling devices and the intermediate heating devices.
