Fly-cutting system and method, and related tooling articles
Methods of fly-cutting a workpiece are disclosed, and in methods in which the position of a fly-cutting head or its associated cutting element is known as a function of time. Also disclosed are methods of forming features, such as grooves or groove segments, in a workpiece such as a cylindrical roll. The features may be provided according to one or more disclosed patterns. Articles made using tools machined in the manner described are also provided, such as polymeric film or sheeting that exhibit certain beneficial properties.
Imprint apparatus, imprint method, and method of manufacturing article
An imprint apparatus which performs imprint processing by using a mold having a protruding portion and by bringing the protruding portion into contact with a composition on a substrate, the imprint apparatus comprising: a first illumination unit configured to emit light that cures the composition; a second illumination unit configured to emit light that cures the composition; and a control unit configured to perform control processing such that the composition at a position corresponding to a first region of the protruding portion is irradiated with the light from the first illumination unit and perform control processing such that the composition at a position corresponding to a second region outside the first region of the protruding portion is irradiated with the light from the second illumination unit.
METHOD FOR UNIFORMLY SIZING POLYMER CARTRIDGE NECK
A method for uniformly sizing polymer-based cartridge necks in ammunition cartridges includes providing a neck sizer and aligning the polymer cartridge below the neck sizer. The cartridge is pressed into the neck sizer where the pressing step causes the cartridge neck to be compressed in the neck sizer so as to reduce the inner diameter of the cartridge neck to less than the maximum outer diameter of the bullet to be fired from the cartridge. The pressing step may also involve compressing excess polymer material from the cartridge neck through flutes in the collet die of the neck sizer to form external neck ribs about the outer surface of the neck. The neck ribs aid in concentrically aligning the polymer cartridge in the chamber of a firearm to improve accuracy of the bullet fired therefrom.
Trim part
A trim part, in particular for covering an airbag in a vehicle, is provided. The trim part comprises at least one outer layer, at least one hinge layer comprising at least one first break line which forms a first part of a perimeter of a flap area and is attached to a first surface of the at least one outer layer, at least one structural layer attached to a first surface of the at least one hinge layer facing away from the at least one outer layer characterized in that at least one of the at least one outer layer comprises a fiber composite material and the at least one structural layer comprises at least one second break line forming a breakthrough area corresponding to the flap area of the at least one hinge layer.
Component for vehicle interior
A component for an interior of a vehicle configured to facilitate formation of an opening for deployment of an airbag into the interior of the vehicle is disclosed. The component may comprise a composite structure comprising a substrate and a cover; the substrate may comprise a base layer and a feature configured to facilitate formation of the opening; the base layer may comprise a fiber panel formed into a compressed fiber panel to provide a structural substrate; the feature may comprise a projection arrangement that may comprise a set of projections; the cover may comprise a set of cavities. The projection arrangement may comprise a tear line for formation of the opening. The compressed fiber panel may comprise a generally rigid fiber panel with a set of projections/nubs formed of a resin. The base layer may comprise a recess. The cover may comprise a substantially uniform exterior surface.
