20210308963 · 2021-10-07 ·

A simple, inexpensive and rapid method for manufacturing a preform of a component made of composite material provided with a vacuum bagging film in which a thermoplastic vacuum bagging film is formed at the same time as the preform and a method for manufacturing a component made of composite material, by vacuum curing of the preform.

Multi-stage debulk and compaction of thick composite repair laminates

A method for fabricating a repair laminate for a composite part having an exposed surface includes applying a release film to the exposed surface and forming an uncured ply stack assembly on the release film. The uncured ply stack assembly is formed by forming and compacting a series of uncured ply stacks. The release film and ply stack assembly is then removed from the exposed surface. A bonding material is then applied to the exposed surface, and the uncured ply stack assembly is applied to the bonding material. The ply stack assembly and bonding material are then cured.

Resin sheet production method

A resin sheet production method includes a preparation step of preparing a resin molding sheet including a base and a thermally expansive layer that is formed on one main surface of the base, the thermally expansive layer including a thermally expandable material; a heat conversion layer forming step of forming a heat conversion layer that converts electromagnetic waves to heat on at least one of the first main surface of the resin molding sheet or a second main surface on a side opposite to the first main surface; a pre-heating step of heating the resin molding sheet on which the heat conversion layer is formed to a temperature that is lower than an expansion starting temperature at which the thermally expandable material starts to expand; and a main heating step of irradiating the heat conversion layer of the resin molding sheet that is heated in the pre-heating step with the electromagnetic waves to cause the heat conversion layer to distend, thereby causing the base to deform and forming a shaped object on the resin molding sheet.

Aperture system for preceramic polymer stereolithography

An aperture system for a bottom-up stereolithography device including a reservoir having a lower opening, an aperture including a flexible membrane positioned within the reservoir and covering the lower opening, and a boundary seal positioned around a periphery of the flexible membrane, the boundary seal including one or more boundary seal components and immobilizing the periphery of the flexible membrane against the reservoir. The flexible membrane is formed of a material having a low affinity for a liquid resin used in the stereolithography device as well as cured photopolymer resin parts produced by the device. In addition, the flexible membrane is able to deform as the cured resin part is pulled away from the aperture, thus enabling lower energy mixed mode adhesive failure to occur at the interface between the cured resin and the aperture and reducing the chance of cohesive damage to the cured photopolymer part.

METHOD FOR MANUFACTURING VEHICULAR INTERIOR COMPONENT
20210229323 · 2021-07-29 ·

To provide a vehicle-interior-component manufacturing method that can suppress damage to a designed surface of a skin and can manufacture a vehicle interior component superior in appearance quality. The method includes a first step and a second step. At the first step, a layered body is sandwiched by the forming dies so as to be subjected to hot-press forming, with the layered body including a base member, a skin, and a protection sheet that are layered over each other, the base member being made of a thermosetting resin, the skin being positioned on a side of a base member surface, and the protection sheet being positioned on a side of a skin surface. At the second step, the layered body is removed from the forming die, and then, the protection sheet is peeled.

Method for build separation from a curing interface in an additive manufacturing process

A layer-by layer method for additive manufacturing that includes: photocuring a first volume of resin to form a layer of a build at an upper surface of a separation membrane laminated over a build window; injecting a fluid into an interstitial region between the separation membrane and the build window; retracting the build from the build window; evacuating the fluid from the interstitial region; and photocuring a second volume of liquid resin to form a subsequent layer of the build between an upper surface of a separation membrane and the previous layer of the build.

SEALANT PACKAGING AND METHOD
20210094737 · 2021-04-01 ·

An improved sealant packaging and method for use with sealing joints and cracks in pavement and parking lots is provided. Liquid sealant material is poured by volume into a container draped with a sheet. Container is cooled so that the sealant becomes a solid block, with the sheet adhered to the sides of the sealant block such that the sheet forms a container for the sealant. The sheet also acts a release liner for easily removing the sealant block from the container. Two or more contained blocks are stacked together, forming a package of two or more blocks self-sealed by sheets. When the package is placed in a melting kettle, heat migrates through the spaces between the individual sealant blocks and allows the smaller sealant blocks to melt quickly and evenly. Sheet and film melt with sealant material and are incorporated therein to form the final sealant product.

A PVB film for HUD, a forming mold and a forming method thereof are presented. The accuracy error of HUD imaging achieved by the PVB film for HUD is ±0.1 mrad. The forming mold includes an upper mold and a lower mold, the two of which can form an enclosed mold cavity when clamped together, wherein protective films are disposed on inner surfaces of the upper mold and the lower mold, respectively, for supporting PVB material and preventing the PVB material from bonding with the upper mold and the lower mold, and wherein shapes of the protective films match shapes of the upper mold and the lower mold.

POLYMER COMPOSITE BUILDING PRODUCT AND METHOD OF FABRICATION
20210131119 · 2021-05-06 ·

A building product for application to the exterior of a building. The front face of the product utilizes a first fiber sheet partially embedded within a thermoset polymer coating resin. A foamed closed cell admixture composition core with an inorganic filler overlays the thermoset polymer coating resin with the embedded fiber sheet. The admixture composition infiltrates and bonds to the portion of the fiber sheet that is not embedded within the thermoset polymer coating resin mechanically bonding to the thermoset polymer coating. A second fiber sheet overlays the admixture core and the admixture and second fiber sheet form the rear surface of the building product that is mounted adjacent the building surface.
