METHOD FOR PRODUCING AN OBJECT FROM A PRECURSOR, AND USE OF A RADICALLY CROSSLINKABLE RESIN IN AN ADDITIVE PRODUCTION METHOD

A process for producing an object from a precursor comprises the steps of: I) depositing a free-radically crosslinked resin atop a carrier to obtain a ply of a construction material joined to the carrier which corresponds to a first selected cross section of the precursor; II) depositing a free-radically crosslinked resin atop a previously applied ply of the construction material to obtain a further ply of the construction material which corresponds to a further selected cross section of the precursor and which is joined to the previously applied ply; III) repeating step II) until the precursor is formed;
wherein the depositing of a free-radically crosslinked resin at least in step II) is effected by exposure and/or irradiation of a selected region of a free-radically crosslinkable resin corresponding to the respectively selected cross section of the object and wherein the free-radically crosslinkable resin has a viscosity (23 C., DIN EN ISO 2884-1) of 5 mPas to 100000 mPas. In the process the free-radically crosslinkable resin comprises a curable component in which NCO groups and olefinic CC double bonds are present, wherein in the curable component the molar ratio of NCO groups to olefinic CC double bonds is in a range from 1:5 to 5:1.

In the process, after step III) step IV) is further performed: IV) treating the precursor obtained after step III) under conditions sufficient to at least partially trimerize to isocyanurate groups NCO groups present in the free-radically crosslinked resin of the obtained precursor to obtain the object.

The invention further relates to the use of a free-radically crosslinkable resin having a viscosity (23 C., DIN EN ISO 2884-1) of 5 mPas to 100000 mPas in an additive manufacturing process, wherein the resin comprises a curable compound having isocyanurate groups, NCO groups and olefinic CC double bonds. The invention finally relates to a polymer obtainable by crosslinking such a resin.

Various embodiments provide surface compositions and methods for porous, flexible, and durable surfaces that may stabilize native soil, provide substantially uniform drainage of moisture, and provide a barrier between the native soil, vegetation, and other compositions disposed over the surface composition, such as sand and/or soil. The compositions and methods may comprise utilizing a liquid coating composition, liquid binder, and/or antimicrobial composition in combination with a particulate material configured to provide a desired pore size, elasticity, compression, and/or stability to the surface composition. Various embodiments of the surface composition may form a prefabricated flexible bunker liner for application to the native soil in a golf course bunker beneath sand to maintain sand quality, control moisture, and prolong bunker life.

An improved shock absorbing, light-weight, thermally insulative orthotic pad designed for use in a pad and boot assembly for hoofed livestock. The pad is comprised of a mixture of small particles incorporated and encased in elastomeric materials. The particles have a lower density than the elastomeric materials and possess better thermally insulative properties. The pad is preferably elliptically shaped when viewed from the top or bottom, may be wedge-shaped when viewed from the side, and may include a triangular projection designed to contact a horse's frog and/or a front projection designed to cushion an animal's toe. The pad may also have side clips and toe bumper.

An apparatus for manufacturing of 3D objects is provided. The apparatus includes a number of material deposition heads terminated by nozzles, of which one or two nozzles are configured to deposit a first material to form a first and second pattern layers. The pattern layers are laterally shifted from each other such that when the first and second pattern layers are deposited, a space (empty volume) with a varying cross section is formed. In some examples, two or more nozzles could be used to deposit the corresponding first and second pattern layers. The nozzles could move independent of each other.

SHAPED GEL ARTICLES AND SINTERED ARTICLES PREPARED THEREFROM

Shaped gel articles that are formed within a mold cavity and that retain the size and shape of the mold cavity upon removal from the mold cavity, sintered articles prepared from the shaped gel articles, and methods of making the sintered articles are provided. The shaped gel articles are formed from a casting sol that contains colloidal silica particles that are treated with a surface modification composition that includes a silane surface modification agent having a radically polymerizable group. The sintered article has a shape identical to the mold cavity (except in regions where the mold cavity was overfilled) and to the shaped gel article but reduced in size proportional to the amount of isotropic shrinkage.
