A method of fabricating a casting, the method including applying a substrate to a sacrificial mold, the sacrificial mold including a shaped non-planar receiving surface to receive the substrate and provide a casting of the substrate having a shaped structure corresponding to the receiving surface; and subjecting the sacrificial mold and casting to freeze drying conditions and sublimating the sacrificial mold from the casting to form a cast article including the shaped non-planar structure.

The forming die includes: a body part; a plate-shaped forming part that is attached to the body part so as to be swingable around a swing shaft; and a pressurization part that generates a pressurization force which causes a distal end part of the forming part to push a layered body against the wall part region when the forming die is moved by the movement mechanism so as to approach the bottom part region. In accordance with the distal end part, the part causes a contact surface to contact a region of the layered body.

Advantageously, the negative mold structure can be stretched to facilitate the release of the microstructure. For example, the microstructure comprises a chamber with capped micropillars for the generation and/or analysis of muscle tissue.

Light hardening photopolymer is introduced into the cavity of the mold and exposed to a selected radiation spectrum or spectrums for curing of light hardening photopolymers through the mold light transmissive material thereby hardening and curing the light hardening photopolymer whereupon the cured light hardening photopolymer is removed from the mold and the process repeated.

The device permits the production of photopolymer molded bodies or photopolymer coated bodies in a continuous or discontinuous process.
