Various embodiments of a device for delivery of a medicament and a method of utilizing such device are disclosed. The device can include a canister and an actuator. The actuator includes a housing receiving the canister; a valve block receiving a metering valve of the canister, the valve block defining an expansion chamber for passage of propellant and medicament expelled from the canister; and a nosepiece for insertion into a user's nostril, the nosepiece including a fluid passage and a delivery opening for expulsion of the propellant and medicament into the user's nostril. A flow path is defined through the actuator for passage of propellant and medicament from the canister and includes the expansion chamber, the fluid passage and the delivery opening. Further, the cross-sectional area of the flow path is greater than the lowest cross-sectional area of the metering valve at all points along the flow path.
INHALATION DEVICE AND METHOD
The invention relates to the field of inhalation devices for liquids. In particular, the invention relates to an inhalation device having improved flow characteristics. A inhalation device for medically active liquids (F) for generation of an aerosol comprises a housing (1), inside this housing (1) a reservoir (2) for storing a liquid (F), a pumping device with a hollow cylinder (9) providing a pumping chamber (3) for the generation of a pressure inside said pumping chamber (3), wherein the pumping chamber is fluidically connected with the reservoir (2) via an inlet check valve (4) which blocks in direction of the reservoir (2), a riser pipe (5) which can be received with at least one reservoir-facing, interior end (5A) in said hollow cylinder (9), and a nozzle (6) which is connected liquid-tight to an exterior end (5B) of the riser pipe (5), wherein the volume of the pumping chamber (3) is changeable by means of relative motion of the cylinder (9) to the riser pipe (5), and is characterised in that the riser pipe (5) is immobile and firmly attached to the housing (1) and to the nozzle (6), whereas the hollow cylinder (9) is moveable relative to the housing (1) and to the nozzle (6). The invention also discloses a method for the generation of an aerosol of a medically active liquid (F) by means of an inhalation device.
NEBULIZER
A nebulizer for nebulizing a fluid is proposed. The nebulizer includes an indicator device with a rotatable indicator element for counting or indicating a number of actuations performed or still possible with the nebulizer and a rotatable shaft which rotatably drives the indicator element. The indicator device is non-detachably attached to the shaft and/or to an inner part of the nebulizer. The nebulizer may further include a positioning device that keeps the shaft in a defined rotational position and/or blocks the shaft from rotating backwards.
Dry powder inhaler
This invention provides a budesonide/formoterol dry powder inhaler (10) comprising: a reservoir (14) containing a dry powder medicament and an arrangement for delivering a metered dose of the medicament from the reservoir; a cyclone deagglomerator (10′) for breaking up agglomerates of the dry powder medicament; a delivery passageway (34) for directing an inhalation-induced air flow through a mouthpiece (24), the delivery passageway extending to the metered dose of medicament, wherein the medicament comprises micronised formoterol fumarate, micronised budesonide and a lactose carrier, the lactose carrier having a particle size distribution of d10=20-65 μm, d50=80-120 μm, d90=130-180 μm and <10 μm=<10%.
Chilled-air inhaler device and methods of using a chilled-air inhaler device for the alleviation of respiratory symptoms
A chilled-air inhaler device for the alleviation of respiratory symptoms includes a body containing a hollow chamber through which air is forced or drawn past at least an air-chilling surface. In an embodiment the air-chilling surface may include water ice. Connected to the body and hollow chamber at one end is a mouthpiece including an opening that connects from environmental air outside of the hollow chamber to the hollow chamber. Connected to the hollow chamber at a second end is an inlet which connects to a source of air. In an embodiment, the inlet may connect to an external device such blower or nebulizer.
PRODUCT DELIVERY DEVICES AND METHODS
Devices, and methods for generating variable inhalable products (e.g., variable density, phase, and size products) are provided. Methods for treating or preventing a disorder in a subject using variable products generated by the devices are also provided herein. Additionally, inhalers and breathing systems comprising the devices are provided.
SMART VALVED HOLDING CHAMBER
A medication delivery system including a holding chamber having an input and an output end, a backpiece coupled to the input end of the holding chamber and having an electrical circuit and an opening. An MDI incudes an insert portion moveable between an engaged position wherein the insert portion is received in the opening and a disengaged position wherein the insert portion is removed from the opening, and at least one contact that completes the electrical circuit when the insert portion is in the engaged position.
Inhalation device, substance storage, inhalation system, and method of operating an inhalation device
An inhalation device including at least one processor configured to control an inhalation process including vaporing a substance received from a substance storage when coupled to the inhalation device, wherein the at least one processor is configured to be operated in an operation mode or in a standby mode, an electronic interface configured to be coupled to a substance storage interface, a passive detection circuit coupled between the electronic interface and the at least one processor and configured to detect whether the substance storage is coupled to the inhalation device, and, in case it is detected that the substance storage is coupled to the inhalation device, cause the at least one processor to switch from the standby mode to the operation mode.
INHALATION DEVICE
The present invention provides an inhalation device which has two pumps, one providing a nebulizer flow and the other providing a support flow. The nebulizer flow passes through a nebulizing nozzle to generate an aerosol flow from a liquid. The aerosol flow and the support flow are combined to provide a total flow through a mouthpiece to a patient. The device can be configured specifically for pediatric use by removing the support flow pump.
