A process comprises cold-forming a flat glass substrate into a non-planar shape using a die. The cold-formed glass substrate is bonded to a non-planar rigid support structure at a plurality of non-planar points using the die. Bonding methods include injection molding the non-planar rigid support structure, and direct bonding. An article is also provided, comprising a cold-formed glass substrate having opposing major surfaces and a curved shape, the opposing major surfaces comprising a surface stress that differ from one another. The cold-formed glass substrate is attached to a rigid support structure having the curved shape. The cold-formed glass substrate includes an open region not in direct contact with the non-planar rigid support structure, and the open region has a curved shape maintained by the non-planar rigid support structure.

Method for manufacturing a cover for an electronic package and electronic package comprising a cover

A cover for an electronic package is manufactured by placing an optical insert, having opposite faces and configured to allow light radiation to pass therethrough, between two opposite faces of a cavity of a mold in a position such that said optical faces of the optical insert make contact with said opposite faces of the cavity of the mold. A coating material is injected into the cavity and around the optical insert. The coating material is set to obtain a substrate that is overmolded around the optical insert so as to produce the cover. An electronic package includes an electronic chip mounted to a support substrate with the cover formed by the overmolded substrate mounted to the support substrate.

Laminated structure, multiple laminated structure, lens, and method for producing laminated structure

A laminated structure including: an electrically conductive layer; an underlying layer including a first resin and inorganic particles; a support including a second resin; and a resin layer including a third resin that is at least one selected from the group consisting of a resin of same kind as the second resin and a resin having a softening temperature equal to or lower than a softening temperature of the second resin, the electrically conductive layer, the underlying layer, the support, and the resin layer being disposed in this order.

MAGNETIC BUILDING BLOCKS AND METHODS OF MANUFACTURING THEREOF

An interlocking toy building block includes a first block body and a first magnet positioned therein a first distance from a first outer surface thereof to provide a first predetermined magnetic polarity to the first outer surface. When the first outer surface is brought into close proximity with a second outer surface of a second block body having a second magnet positioned a second distance therein and exhibiting a second predetermined magnetic polarity opposing the first predetermined magnetic polarity, the first outer surface is configured to mate with the second outer surface in an interlocking position. A potential magnetic force F.sub.m between the pair of magnets is determined by the formulation: F.sub.m=F.sub.o e.sup.−rd where F.sub.o is the initial force (i.e., no separation distance between magnets), and e.sup.−rd is the exponential function of the rate of decay “r” of the magnets and the distance “d” between the magnets.

Manufacturing Method for Gear

Over an outer peripheral surface of a sleeve, a primer layer is formed that is a thermoplastic resin-based adhesive thermally melted at a temperature lower than a melting point of a thermoplastic resin formed into a resin member to exhibit adhesiveness. With the sleeve preheated, a thermoplastic resin to be formed into the resin member is annularly injection-molded over an outer periphery of the sleeve.
