RESPIRATORY DEVICE TO TRACHEOSTOMY TUBE CONNECTOR
A respiratory device (e.g., BiPAP machine) to tracheostomy tube connector includes a first component including a first hollow channel through which air is pumped from a respiratory device in one direction, and a second component connected to the first component, wherein the second component includes a second hollow channel through which air moves in two directions to and from a tracheostomy tube, and an opening through which air is vented upon return from the tracheostomy tube. The connector further includes a valve positioned in between the first component and the second component; and a sensor seated in the second component and adjacent to the opening, wherein the sensor detects any of a flow of air in the second component and a motion of the valve.
FILTER ARRANGEMENT AND PROCESS FOR FILTERING A GAS FROM A GAS MIXTURE
An arrangement and a process filter out at least one gas from a gas mixture. A filter unit (4) of the filter arrangement comprises an inlet and an outlet and is adapted to filter the gas out of the gas mixture while the gas mixture flows through the filter unit (4). The filter unit (4) takes up the gas and heats up in the process. A filter temperature sensor (46, 46.2) of the filter arrangement is adapted to measure at least once an indicator of the temperature in a first measuring area (MP, MP.2) inside the filter unit (4). Depending on the measured temperature, a message is generated and output in a form perceptible by a human being. This message includes information about the current state of the filter unit (4).
Secretion clearing patient airway management system
A pulmonary secretion clearing airway structure and related airway management system is disclosed that has a double lumen portion which each lumen of the double lumen portion operably secured to an airway management system so that inspiratory fluid (air/oxygen mixtures, with or without added water vapor) is delivered to the distal end of the ventilation catheter through one of the two lumens and expired inspiratory fluid, pulmonary secretions, and pulmonary fluids are removed from the patient through the other lumen. The expiratory fluid pathway preferably includes a secretion collection system for removing the pulmonary secretions and the like from the pathway, thereby improving operation and safety of the system. The airway structure can be a ventilation catheter or a supraglottic airway system such as laryngeal mask and the like.
Water out alarm
The present invention provides for an improved method of determining a water out condition in a humidified gases supply apparatus. The method includes a two step process including a primary determination of a water out condition and a secondary determination of a water out condition. This primary determination is made during observation of the normal operation of the apparatus. During the secondary determination the method takes temporary control over the humidifying part of the apparatus. The secondary determination confirms or contradicts the primary determination.
Methods and systems for delivering gas to a patient
A system is provided for delivering gas to a patient during a medical procedure. The system comprises a heater arranged to heat at least one of the gas and a humidification liquid. The system comprises a controller arranged to control the system according to a first mode during delivery of a first flow rate of gas and a second mode during delivery of a second flow rate of gas. The controller monitors an electrical characteristic of the heater to select the mode of operation and/or to determine an operating state of the system.
Methods and systems for waste gas detection in an anesthetic vaporizer
Systems and methods are provided for detecting and sequestering waste anesthetic gases released by an anesthetic vaporizer. In one embodiment, a method for an anesthetic vaporizer installed in an anesthesia machine includes detecting an emission of waste anesthetic gases (WAGs) from the anesthetic vaporizer, and responsive to detecting the emission of WAGs, performing at least one of scavenging the WAGs and outputting an alert.
Systems, devices, and methods for determining a degree of respiratory effort exerted by a patient while breathing and/or determining a respiratory effort score for a patient
The present invention is a respiratory monitoring device which uses 2+ sensors to map respiratory motion in patients to interpret into a respiratory effort and severity score. The core components of the invention are contact-based sensors that measure relative motion of the chest, abdomen, and/or other key anatomical features, a processing unit which takes in the data from all sensors, an algorithm that analyzes and compares the data from each sensor to understand relative motion and interpret it into clinically-relevant information, and a display screen that shares this information with clinicians. The sensors are connected to each other and the information processing unit which shares data with the screen for display of a respiratory severity score based on analysis of Thoraco-Abdominal Asynchrony (TAA) or similar indicators of respiratory effort as measured by the sensor network and analyzed by the algorithm.
PORTABLE MEDICAL TRIAGE KIT
A portable medical triage kit and interactive application that leads a user through a medically acceptable triage protocol for treating medical emergencies. The interactive application leads the user to treat major life threats of all nearby victims before treating minor threats of anyone.
Portable ventilator secretion management system
A patient ventilator secretion management system is disclosed. The system has a valve with an input in pneumatic communication with a therapeutic breathing gas source. The valve has variable positions, each of which corresponds to a specific flow rate of gas being output therefrom. A patient ventilation interface is in pneumatic communication with the valve over a gas delivery circuit. A controller in communication with the valve regulates the position thereof. The controller sequentially switches the valve from one of the variable positions to another to output a first range of fluctuating flow rates of gas for delivery to the patient ventilation interface during at least a selected one of patient expiratory and inspiratory phases.
USE OF DIAPHRAGMATIC ULTRASOUND TO DETERMINE PATIENT-SPECIFIC VENTILATOR SETTINGS AND OPTIMIZE PATIENT-VENTILATOR ASYNCHRONY DETECTION ALGORITHMS
A medical device for treating an associated patient includes an electronic processing device configured to receive ventilation waveform data during mechanical ventilation of the associated patient and to perform a patient-ventilator asynchrony monitoring method including detecting initial patient-ventilator asynchrony events during a training period of the mechanical ventilation by analysis of measurements of the associated patient acquired during the training period; training a machine learning (ML) component to analyze ventilation waveform data to detect patient-ventilator asynchrony events using the ventilation waveform data received during the training period with labels indicating the initial patient-ventilator asynchrony events; applying the patient-specific ML component to the ventilation waveform data received after the training period to detect patient-ventilator asynchrony events occurring after the training period; and a display device configured to display an indication of patient-ventilator asynchrony events detected by the applying of the patient-specific ML component.
