Apparatus and method of manufacturing ceramic honeycomb body
An apparatus and method of manufacturing a porous ceramic segmented honeycomb body (340,340) comprising axial channels (216) extending from a first end face (220) to a second end face (224). A plurality of porous ceramic honeycomb segments (204) is moved axially past respective apertures (110) of an adhesive applying device (100). Adhesive (118) is applied through openings (126) in the adhesive applying device (100) onto peripheral axial surfaces of each porous ceramic honeycomb segment (204). The plurality of porous ceramic honeycomb segments (204) enters a wide opening (318) of a tapered chamber (314) and exits a narrow opening (322) of the tapered chamber (314); a tapered wall (326) from the wide opening (318) to the narrow opening (322) presses the plurality of porous ceramic honeycomb segments (204) together forming the porous ceramic segmented honeycomb body (340,340). The adhesive (118) on the peripheral axial surfaces between respective porous ceramic honeycomb segments (204) is distributed by the pressing.
SHAPEABLE BUNDLES OF SLIDABLY-INTERLOCKED EXTRUSIONS FOR ARCHITECTURAL OR OTHER CONSTRUCTION COMPONENTS
Flexible extrusions of selected die patterns may be slid or snapped together to create bundles of slidably-interlocked extrusions that may be used to create structural components for architectural and a plurality of other construction purposes. Components such as standard rectangular construction beams, arches, domes, architectural trees, cylinders, molds, puzzling mazes, furniture, rollercoaster track, and other applications are illustrated and described in embodiments herein. Bundles of slidably-interlocked extrusions may be formed into a straight beam, bent into an arch, or twisted into other forms as desired. Bundles of slidably-interlocked extrusions may for example, comprise subsets of different length bundles of extrusions that may extend the length create long-span support beams or that may branch away at an angle from the starting beam to form a treelike structure.
SIZER FOR AN EXTRUSION MACHINE WITH IMPROVED COOLING AND VACUUM CHANNELS
A sizer for cooling an extrudate includes a core and a housing. The core includes an extrusion channel which accommodates the extrudate, a core cooling channel, and a core vacuum channel in fluid communication with said extrusion channel. The housing includes a housing cooling channel, a housing vacuum channel, a cooling intake, and a cooling exhaust. The housing cooling and vacuum channels having curved segments. The cooling intake and exhaust being in fluid communication with said housing cooling channel.
Stretch hose and hose production method
A method of continuously forming an axially extensible and retractable hose comprising: continuously forming an axially extending helix with axially spaced reinforcing coils from extruded thermoplastic material having a uniform cross-section along its length; and continuously bridging between an adjacent pair of the reinforcing coils with a continuous web of extruded thermoplastic material of substantially uniform width and relatively thin cross-section to form a continuous, helically extending sidewall, with the web having one of two opposite edge regions bonded continuously to a relatively flat outer bonding surface of a radially outwardly located portion of one of the adjacent pair of reinforcing coils, with the web having the other of the edge regions bonded continuously to a relatively flat inner bonding surface of a radially inwardly located portion of the other of the pair of reinforcing coils, and with the edge regions continuously radially separated from each other by the helix.
Apparatus and method for manufacturing rubber member
An apparatus of manufacturing a rubber member includes an extruder; a mouthpiece; and a support surface which faces the mouthpiece in an opposed manner. The support surface and the mouthpiece are moved relative to each other thus molding a rubber member on the support surface. The apparatus further includes: a rubber pool portion formed between the mouthpiece and the support surface; and a closing surface having an inclined surface shape and capable of closing a moving-direction front side of the rubber pool portion. A rubber material is ejected from an ejection port in a state where the rubber pool portion is closed by the closing surface, the support surface and the mouthpiece are moved relative to each other after the rubber pool portion is filled with the rubber material, and a lamination starting end of the rubber material is pressed to the closing surface thus molding the lamination starting end into an inclined surface and, thereafter, the closing surface is moved in a direction away from the support surface.
Pipe with an outer wrap
The embodiments of the present disclosure provide a method of applying an outer wrap to a corrugated pipe. The method comprises receiving a corrugated pipe that is cut to length, determining a wrap type to be applied to the corrugated pipe, determining a flow rate for applying a wrap of the wrap type based on a type of plastic used in the wrap, a type of fiber used in the wrap, and the wrap type, and applying a wrap made of the type of fiber and the type of plastic to the corrugated pipe using the determined flow rate.
Members for sealing, baffling, or reinforcing
An article comprising: a carrier (12), activatable material (14) disposed on the carrier, one or more carrier extensions (16) extending from the carrier; wherein the article is adapted to provide sealing, baffling, or reinforcement within a structure's cavity.
Pipe with an outer wrap
This disclosure relates generally to corrugated pipe, and more particularly to corrugated pipe with an outer wrap. In one embodiment, a pipe includes an axially extended bore defined by a corrugated outer wall having axially adjacent, outwardly-extending corrugation crests, separated by corrugation valleys. The pipe also includes an outer wrap applied to the outer wall. The outer wrap may include fibers and plastic. The outer wrap may span the corrugation crests producing a smooth outer surface.
Methods for manufacture of extruded objects
In a method of manufacturing objects, extrudable ceramic forming material is extruded through multiple dies arrayed around an extrusion axis, the dies mounted to permit controlled movement of the dies during the course of extrusion to vary the position of several extrudate streams exiting the dies. Extruded objects are defined by spokes corresponding to the extrudate streams with the streams having a varying spacing from a central axis.
Nettings, dies, and methods of making the same
Netting (100) comprising an array of polymeric strands (121, 122) periodically joined together at bond regions (113) throughout the array, and methods and dies for making the same. Nettings described herein have a variety of uses, including wound care and other medical applications, filtration, absorbent articles, pest control articles, and geotextile applications.
