VENTILATION DEVICE DESIGNED TO IDENTIFY FUNCTIONAL IMPAIRMENT OF ITS O2 SENSOR ASSEMBLY
A ventilation device for artificial ventilation, having: —a ventilation gas source; —a ventilation conducting assembly for conducting inspiratory ventilation gas from the ventilation gas source to a patient-side, proximal ventilation-gas outlet opening and for conducting expiratory ventilation gas away from a proximal ventilation-gas inlet opening; —a pressure-changing assembly for changing the pressure of the ventilation gas flowing in the ventilation conducting assembly; —a control device, which is designed to control the operation of the ventilation gas source and/or the operation of the pressure-changing assembly; —an evaluation device for processing sensor signals; and —an O2 sensor assembly for determining an O2 concentration value representing the oxygen concentration of the ventilation gas flowing in the ventilation conducting assembly, wherein the O2 sensor assembly outputs O2 sensor signals, which contain information regarding the O2 concentration value, to the evaluation device, and wherein the evaluation device is designed to determine, on the basis of the O2 sensor signals, an O2 change value representing a change in the O2 concentration value and, if the O2 change value satisfies a predefined condition, to infer degradation of the O2 sensor assembly and to output a signal.
A CLAMP FOR A BRONCHOSCOPE OR THE LIKE
A clamp for inter alia a bronchoscope, the clamp comprising a spine with frame which has a channel through which a tube of inter alia the bronchoscope is received. The frame includes clamping means to grip the tube within the frame to fix it in position. The clamping is releasable to allow further movement of the tube relative to the frame.
ENDOTRACHEAL TUBE
A device for irrigation of an oral cavity in a patient includes a suction element configured to be disposed in the oral cavity and configured to suction a fluid out of the oral cavity. The suction element also has one or more irrigation outlets configured to irrigate the oral cavity with the fluid. A suction line is fluidly coupled with the suction element and is configured to be fluidly coupled with a vacuum source. An irrigation line is fluidly coupled with the one or more irrigation outlets and is fluidly coupled with a source of the fluid.
Surgical Tool with Retractable Blade and Bougie Passage and a Method of Use Thereof
A surgical tool has an elongate tool body that supports a retractable scalpel blade at a working end of the tool body. A bougie passage extends through the tool body to receive a bougie slidable longitudinally through the passage in the tool body. The tool body may be a single scalpel handle, or a pair of forceps. In either instance, the tool may be used to perform a cricothyrotomy procedure on patient or introduce a thoracostomy tube into a patient. In each instance, the scalpel blade forms an incision, followed by retraction of the blade and insertion of the bougie while the tool remains inserted into the patient. After removal of the tool, the bougie is used to guide subsequent insertion of a tube into the patient.
CARTRIDGE FOR STORING A NO/NITROGEN MIXTURE, AND ASSOCIATED GAS DELIVERY INSTALLATION
Disclosed is a cartridge for storing pressurized gas, including a main body with an internal volume for storing a gaseous mixture NO/N.sub.2, and a distribution valve for controlling the output of the gas. The internal volume of the main body is less than 1000 ml. The concentration of NO in the gaseous mixture NO/N.sub.2 is between 15000 and 25000 ppmv. The gas pressure in the internal volume is below 15 bar, measured at 23° C. Installation for delivering gas to a patient, including such a gas cartridge, a NO supply device fed by the gas cartridge, and a medical ventilator feeding a patient circuit which has an inhalation branch fed by the NO supply device. Use for treating patients suffering from pulmonary hypertension or hypoxia.
Mouth seal assembly for nasal mask system
A mouth seal assembly for use with a nasal mask system includes a mouth seal adapted to form a seal with the patient's mouth. The mouth seal is substantially independent from a supply of pressurized air from the nasal mask system. An anti-asphyxia valve may be provided to either the mouth seal over the patient's lips or the nasal mask system. A strap arrangement may support the mouth seal in a desired position on the patient's face in use.
Endotracheal intubation devices
The endoscope herein described has a unique steering capability allowing the highly flexible distal end of the shaft of the device to be moved to a full range angular positions without rotating the device on its long axis, thus enabling the device to be steered within the cavity of interest. The relative lengths of the control cables used to move the distal end of the bendable shaft can be changed whenever the flexible or malleable shaft is to be re-shaped to a new configuration thus preventing the distal end or the steering mechanism from assuming an undesired angular position. When used as an endotracheal device, a novel tongue retractor is described which forms an internal conduit, allowing passage of the bendable shaft of the endotracheal intubation device and an endotracheal tube therethrough. Methods for performing a tracheal intubation and changing the relative lengths of the cables are disclosed.
Articulating stylet
An articulating stylet usable with a tracheal intubation system is disclosed. Methods for using the articulating stylet and systems that incorporate the articulating stylet are also disclosed. In some examples, a stylet adapted for mounting an endotracheal tube comprises a shaft and a control wire. The shaft comprises a distal shaft portion, a proximal shaft portion, and an expanding connection joining the distal shaft portion to the proximal shaft portion. The proximal shaft portion has a body portion and a tip portion. The tip portion includes a tip and has greater flexibility than the body portion. The control wire is at least partially disposed within both the distal shaft portion and the proximal shaft portion and is configured to cause the tip portion of the proximal shaft portion to deform.
Method for controlling a thermoregulated ventilation circuit
The present invention relates to a method for controlling a thermoregulated ventilation circuit (100) equipped with a control unit (40) and comprising an active humidifier (10). The active humidifier (10) further comprises, in turn, a cartridge (20) equipped with a humidification chamber (21) adapted to contain water to be heated for the humidification of the air through a heating element (30), and the thermoregulated circuit (100) further comprising at least one intake tube (120) for conveying the air exiting said cartridge and provided with heating means (123) for heating the air exiting said cartridge (20). The method according to the present invention is characterised in that said control unit (40) receives in input the patient's temperature data (Tp) detected by a patient's temperature probe (132) and regulates the operation of said heating element (30) of said cartridge (20) and the operation of said heating means (123) of the air exiting said cartridge (20) as a function of said patient's temperature (Tp).
