METHODS AND SYSTEM FOR MIXING AND DISPENSING VISCOUS MATERIALS FOR THE CREATION OF ADDITIVE STRUCTURES
Various methods and systems are provided for mixing and dispensing viscous materials for the creation of additive structures. As one example, during a mixing and dispensing operation with a mixing and dispensing head of a multi-dimensional printing apparatus, linear movement of a mixing rod positioned within a mixing chamber of the mixing and dispensing head, at least along a central axis of the mixing chamber, is adjusted based on an operating condition of the printing apparatus and dispensing of mixed liquids from the mixing and dispensing head is stopped by stopping one or more pumps fluidly coupled to the mixing chamber and linearly moving the mixing rod upward and away from a dispensing nozzle of the mixing and dispensing head.

Various methods and systems are provided for mixing and dispensing viscous materials for the creation of additive structures. As one example, in a multi-dimensional printing apparatus, one or more materials flow into a mixing chamber via one or more corresponding inlet channels, a rotational speed of a mixing rod positioned within a mixing chamber is adjusted based on a volume of the mixing chamber and a flow rate of the one or more materials into the mixing chamber, the mixing rod including a set of straight cutaways extending along a length of a bottom portion of the mixing rod and forming flat side surfaces of the mixing rod; and a mixture of the one or more materials is dispensed from the mixing chamber via a dispensing nozzle of a mixing and dispensing head.
Device and method for cleaning an extruder for elastomer mixtures
A device for cleaning an extruder includes a frame that supports a screw and a barrel. When driven by a driver, the screw is rotatable about a longitudinal axis of the barrel. The barrel includes a feed inlet and an outlet that opens directly into an extrusion die mounted on a support. The frame is translationally movable relative to the die and the support in a direction parallel to the longitudinal axis between a first position, in which the barrel and the die are in sealed contact, and a second position, in which the barrel is moved away from the die in order to allow cleaning to be performed. The device also includes an automatic coupling mechanism that enables quick locking and unlocking of the barrel and the die, so that the frame can move between the first and second positions when the barrel and the die are unlocked.

An initially bulky profile strand of the plastics profile, which is withdrawn through a calibration unit, can be enclosed by a profile guiding trim of a profile guiding device in front of a caterpillar take-off, wherein the profile guiding trim and/or the profile guiding device can be spatially fixed against a displacement in the extrusion direction in front of an inlet region into the caterpillar take-off and can be shifted and fixed with regard to the vertical and/or lateral position and/or can be rotated about the extrusion direction and be fixed.
Three-dimensional fabrication with cavity filling
A three-dimensional printer is configured to fill interior cavities of a fabricated object with functional or aesthetic materials during fabrication. In general, a number of layers can be fabricated with an infill pattern that leaves void space within an exterior surface of the object. These void spaces can receive a second material such as an epoxy or adhesive that spans multiple layers of the object to increase structural integrity. Similarly, aesthetic materials may be used to add color, opacity, or other desired properties to a fabricated object. The void spaces can also or instead form molds that are filled with a build material to provide a fabricated object.
