The present invention pertains to a system, method, and device for treating sleep disorders. The present invention is particularly useful in the delivery of carbon dioxide (CO2) to a subject and in the treatment of sleep apnea. Furthermore, integration of components with various sensors and apparatuses associated therewith and attached thereto preferably complete a rebreathing circuit in the present invention. In various embodiments of the present invention where the above components are integrated as a rebreathing circuit, a subject is both the source and recipient of a controlled concentration of carbon dioxide. In such embodiments, treatment of sleep disorders becomes much more efficient and effective.

Environment control system utilizing an electrochemical cell
11504494 · 2022-11-22 · ·

An environment control system utilizes oxygen and humidity control devices that are coupled with an enclosure to independently control the oxygen concentration and the humidity level within the enclosure. An oxygen depletion device may be an oxygen depletion electrolyzer cell that reacts with oxygen within the cell and produces water through electrochemical reactions. A desiccating device may be g, a dehumidification electrolyzer cell, a desiccator, a membrane desiccator or a condenser. A controller may control the amount of voltage and/or current provided to the oxygen depletion electrolyzer cell and therefore the rate of oxygen reduction and may control the amount of voltage and/or current provided to the dehumidification electrolyzer cell and therefore the rate of humidity reduction. The oxygen level may be determined by the measurement of voltage and a limiting current of the oxygen depletion electrolyzer cell. The enclosure may be a food or artifact enclosure.

Anesthetic gas scavenging and sanitary breathing tube securing device
11590308 · 2023-02-28 ·

A sanitary device for securing a breathing tube to a patient during anesthesia administration, which also prevents leaking anesthetic gases from entering the operating room environment. The novel design allows rapid application by the user and prevents potential transmission of infectious agents to the patient while securing the breathing tube. A unique, integrated suction system efficiently evacuates leaking anesthetic gases. The device may be manufactured inexpensively and is provided in sanitary packaging. It is intended for single use.

DEVICE AND METHOD FOR CONTROLLING RESPIRATION DURING SLEEP

A device for controlling respiration during sleep based on the user physiological characteristic. The device includes an odor disperser for dispersing an odor; at least one detector for detecting a physiological characteristic of a user; and a controller for controlling respiration of the user by instructing the odor dispenser to disperse an odor responsive to detections by the at least one detector.

PLENUM CHAMBER INSERT FOR PATIENT INTERFACE

A patient interface includes: a plenum chamber; a seal-forming structure; a positioning and stabilising structure; a plenum chamber insert configured to be positioned and retained within the plenum chamber; and a vent structure; wherein the plenum chamber insert has a plenum chamber insert port; wherein the plenum chamber insert has an exterior surface configured to be positioned adjacent to an interior surface of the plenum chamber; wherein when the plenum chamber insert is positioned and retained within the plenum chamber, a radial channel is formed by the interior surface of the plenum chamber and the exterior surface of the plenum chamber insert such that gas is able to pass between a patient-proximal side of the plenum chamber insert and a patient-distal side of the plenum chamber insert via the radial channel during use.

CHARACTERISING SYSTEMS FOR RESPIRATORY THERAPY

Apparatus and methods provide system characterisation such as for operation of respiratory treatment apparatus. Such a characterisation may include a determination of a patient interface type and/or an event such as a leak or blocked vent. For a characterisation, one or more controller(s) or processor(s) may be configured to make a determination of parameters that best fit a template curve, such as a quadratic function, to a plurality of measurements, such as data points. Each data point may include a pressure value, and a flow rate value at the pressure value. Parameters from the function may then be applied, such as with a data structure to characterize the system, such as with an identification of the patient interface type from the parameters. In some versions, parameter(s) of operation of the apparatus may be adjusted based on the characterisation, such as by using the parameters of the template.

Vacuum and positive pressure ventilation systems and methods for intrathoracic pressure regulation

Medical techniques include systems and methods for administering a positive pressure ventilation, a positive end expiratory pressure, and a vacuum to a person. Approaches also include treating a person with an intrathoracic pressure regulator so as to modulate or upregulate the autonomic system of the person, and treating a person with a combination of an intrathoracic pressure regulation treatment and an intra-aortic balloon pump treatment.
