A structurally reinforced blow moulded assembly includes an overmould body bonded to one or more preformed internal stiffening ribs. The reinforcing r ribs are partially encapsulated by o the overmould body in an orientation selected to carry load a forces thereon. The resin mixture used to form the overmould body comprises 10% to 40% by weight short glass having a length less about 15 cm, and 60% to 90% by weight thermoplastic resin. To facilitate recycling the reinforcing ribs comprise 30 to 60% by weight long glass fibers and 40% to 70% of thermoplastic bonding resin.

METHOD FOR MANUFACTURING A PLASTIC FUEL TANK WITH IMPROVED CREEP STRENGTH

A method for manufacturing a plastic fuel tank including: a) inserting a plastic parison including two distinct parts into an open two-cavity mold; b) inserting a core, bearing at least part of a reinforcing element configured to create a link between the two parison parts, inside the parison; c) pressing the parison firmly against the mold cavities, for example by blowing through the core and/or creating suction behind the cavities; d) fixing the part of the reinforcing element to at least one of the parison parts using the core; e) withdrawing the core; f) closing the mold, bringing its two cavities together to grip the two parison parts around their periphery to weld them together; g) injecting a pressurized fluid into the mold and/or creating a vacuum behind the mold cavities to press the parison firmly against the mold cavities; and h) opening the mold and extracting the tank.

METHOD FOR PRODUCING A BLOW-MOLDED PART AND A BLOW-MOLDED PART

A method for producing a blow-molded part where a preform made of thermoplastic material is inserted into a blow mold, and a functional element is inserted into the blow mold. The functional element is held in the correct position in the blow mold by a holding device which has a holder that partially accommodates the functional element. The holder has a projection which extends in the longitudinal direction, and the functional element has a flange extending in the radial direction on the side facing the preform. The blow mold is closed and the blow molding operation is performed such that the preform comes to abut the flange of the functional element and forms a base body.
