A cooling bed system is configured to provide a cooling airflow around a patient suffering from heat exhaustion, heat stroke and or burns. A cooling bed system produces an airflow over a patient and preferably an airflow from both above and below the patient to more effectively and quickly cool the patient. A cooling bed system may also include a liquid dispenser that creates mist that is carried by the airflow to further cool the patient. A patient may be supported by a platform having a plurality of openings to allow airflow and mist to pass therethrough. A controller controls the airflow rate and/or temperature of the air, and may also control the liquid dispensing rate and/or temperature of the liquid as a function of an input from a temperature sensor to effectively and safely cool the patient.

A method is provided for controlling the operation of light sources by assigning a circadian state to the individual based on received electronic information, extrapolating future circadian states based on the assigned circadian state, the assigned circadian state or the extrapolated future circadian states including at least a biological night state, and encoding machine-level control commands that control the operation of the light source for transmission to the light sources adapted for the biological night state by having circadian-significant attenuation along the circadian active wavelength range.

The system can be configured to obtain user sensory sensitivity data indicating a user's visual, sonic, or interoceptive, sensitivities; determine, using at least the user sensory sensitivity data, sensory thresholds specific to the user and mediation data corresponding to mediations specific to the user; store the sensory thresholds and mediation data; record, using one or more sensors, a sensory input stimulus to the user; compare the sensory input stimulus with the sensory thresholds; in response to comparing the sensory input stimulus with the sensory thresholds, determine, based at least on the mediation data, a mediation to be provided to the user, the mediation configured to provide the user relief from distractibility, inattention, anxiety, fatigue, or sensory issues.

A personal space pod apparatus for providing a secluded rest area which can be incorporated into public spaces includes a main frame having a bounded interior area, a doorway that permits access to the interior area, and an electronic user interface that communicates electronically with a user's electronic devices. The electronic user interface can be programmed to provide information about the availability of the personal space pod and the amount of time which the user is using the personal space pod. The personal space pod may include a television and sound system, an array of lighting settings, and climate control, all of which may have settings the user can choose based on their personal preferences. A technique for influencing the human brain can be applied to treat PTSD through stimulating the brain with a beat in, for example, the theta () frequency to influence the brain to relax. Alternatively, the human brain can be stimulated with a beat in the alpha () frequency to stimulate active thinking. Over a series of treatments the brain of an individual suffering from PTSD can be influenced to operate at a normal frequency. Advantageously, as the frequency is adjusted, the symptoms of PTSD recur less often until the individual ceases to experience the symptoms or has at least experienced a decreased recurrence of the symptoms.
