Smoke and particulate matter generated as an extruded parison segment is severed by a hot wire, and the like, is gathered by an entrainment device mounted to the head portion of an extruder. The entrainment device is a hollow housing in which a gas jet generates a region of pressure less than ambient pressure at the extruder head. As a result, smoke and particulate matter at the extruder head portion are drawn into the hollow housing and are exhausted to a location away from the extruder head portion.

A temperature adjustment mold capable of performing local temperature adjustment in an axial direction from the inside of a preform while restricting shrinkage and deformation of the preform, for adjusting a temperature of an injection-molded bottomed resin-made preform includes a rod portion inserted into the preform and extending in the axial direction of the preform. The rod portion includes an annular projection portion that protrudes in a radial direction of the rod portion and contacts an inner peripheral surface of the preform. The rod portion contacts a bottom portion of the preform to restrict shrinkage in the axial direction of the preform. The projection portion restricts shrinkage in a radial direction of the preform, conducts heat between the rod portion and the preform, and adjusts a temperature at a predetermined part in an axial direction of the preform.

A method of shaping plastics material pre-forms into plastics material containers is provided, in which the plastics material pre-forms are expanded inside a blow mold with the aid of an expansion agent and a stretch rod to form the plastics material containers, and in which at least the blow mold and/or the stretch rod is or are sterilized if necessary at least in part with sterilization agent, wherein, to sterilize the outer side of the stretch rod, the stretch rod is displaced at least in part into the blow mold, and the sterilization agents are brought from a discharge element arranged outside the stretch rod to the exterior face of the stretch rod.

A forming mold is used when forming a preform, which has a neck portion and a barrel portion, and whose barrel portion is filled with a molding material over the entire axial direction thereof, by injection molding; forming a space part in the barrel portion of the preform to convert the preform into an intermediate molded product; and blow-molding the intermediate molded product to form a hollow container which is a final molded product. The forming mold is equipped with a boring rod which is inserted from the neck portion side into the barrel portion of the preform to form the space part of at least a predetermined depth in the barrel portion.

The method includes: molding an inner preform 40 or 40a formed with a patterned portion having one or more shapes selected from characters, pictures, figures, and helical grooves on the outer surface thereof using an upper mold 10 for the inner preform having a molding space 11 and formed with a pattern molding portion 12a on the inner circumferential surface thereof and an lower mold 14 for the inner preform having a molding space 15 for a discharge portion; inserting the inner preform 40 or 40a into a molding space 21 of an upper mold 20 for an outer preform, fixing a discharge portion 41 of the inner preform 40 or 40a to a lower mold 23 for the outer preform, feeding a liquid raw material into the molding space 21 of the upper mold 20 for the outer preform, and molding the outer preform 50 in close contact with the outer surface of the inner preform 40 or 40a formed with the patterned portion 42; and simultaneously heating the inner preform 40 or 40a and the outer preform 50 molded in close contact with each other, inserting the two heated preforms into a molding space 31 of a blow mold 30, inserting a blow tube 32 into the discharge portion 41 of the inner preform 40 or 40a, and simultaneously expanding the inner preform 40 or 40a and the outer preform 50 by blow molding to manufacture the desired dual cosmetic container in which an inner container 100 or 100a and an outer container 200 are in close contact with each other.

A method of analyzing preforms for potential bursting during forming and filling by injecting an incompressible liquid to shape the successive heating preforms into containers and fill the containers. The method defines at least one stress parameter correlated to the internal stress of the thermoplastic material of the preform and defines a range of acceptable values for the stress parameter. The method includes analyzing each successive initial preform and each successive heated preform, determining a value of the stress parameter, comparing the determined value to a range of acceptable values, and emitting an output signal when the determined value is outside the acceptable range of values.
