Method of installing a seal for a container prior to container ejection
11738499 · 2023-08-29 · ·

A method of hydraulically blow molding a container from a preform using a liquid end product as a liquid blow medium. The method includes the steps of hydraulically blow molding a formed and filled container from a preform using the liquid blow medium and engaging a fluid tight seal with the container while the container is retained within a mold in the forming station. The engaging of the seal includes engaging an axially extending ring of the seal in one of a press-fit or frictional engagement with an inner surface of the container such that the seal is retained on the container by that engagement.

Nozzle for Reduced Outward Force on Preform Finish

A nozzle for forming a container preform into a plastic container includes a nozzle body and a sealing portion proximate an end of the nozzle body. The sealing portion is configured to engage with a stepped interior of a finish portion of a preform having a longitudinal axis to seal without the use of an O-ring and to preclude any portion of the nozzle body from contacting the sealing surface.

Nozzle for blow-molding stepped finish preform

A nozzle for a blow-molding process includes a first sealing portion, a second sealing portion, and a seal disposed around a circumference of the first sealing portion in the form of circular edge. A transition portion is positioned between the first sealing portion and the second sealing portion. The nozzle is configured such that upon engagement of the second sealing portion with the interior of a container preform having a longitudinal axis, the second sealing portion is positioned along the longitudinal axis at a different location than the first sealing portion.

A hydraulic blow molding apparatus having a container forming station with a forming head coupled to a source of liquid blow medium. The container forming station further includes a mold configured to receive a preform and has interior surfaces that define the container shape. The container forming station injects a liquid end product into the preform and expands the preform to simultaneously form and fill a container with the liquid end product. Prior to the container being removed from the container forming station and while it is still full of the liquid end product, a seal is engaged with the container.

Blow molding device

A blow molding device includes: a tubular-shaped nozzle; a tubular-shaped sealing body configured to be displaced between closing and opening positions; and a stretching rod surrounded by the sealing body. The sealing body includes a tubular wall, which has a drawing-in hole extending from one end to another end, the one end being open at a lower end of the tubular wall, and the other end being open at an outer circumferential surface of the tubular wall. The nozzle has a drawing-in path configured to communicate with the other end of the drawing-in hole when the sealing body is in the closing position. The blow molding device further includes a fluid drawing-in source configured to draw in the incompressive fluid from the drawing-in path.

Liquid blow molding device

A liquid blow molding device includes: a supply block including a supply path; a blow nozzle detachably attached to the supply block; a pressurized liquid supply unit configured to supply the pressurized liquid to the blow nozzle; an annular-shaped sealing surface that is provided in a portion of the supply block that is located between an inner circumferential surface defining the supply path and the outlet and that surrounds an entire circumference of the outlet; and a sealing body that is disposed inside the supply path and that is displaceable between a closing position, in which the sealing body abuts against the sealing surface to close the outlet, and an opening position, in which the sealing body is spaced from the sealing surface to open the outlet.

A nozzle for a blow-molding process includes a first sealing portion and a second seating portion. A transition portion is positioned between the first sealing portion and the second sealing portion. The nozzle is configured such that upon engagement with a container preform having a longitudinal axis, the second sealing portion is positioned along the longitudinal axis at a different location than the first sealing portion.

BLOW MOLDING MOLD AND BLOW MOLDING APPARATUS

A blow core mold unit includes a first core member configured to be loosely fitted to a neck portion of a preform, a second core member provided around the first core member and in contact with a neck mold, and a third core member provided in a space portion formed between the first core member and the second core member, and the blow core mold unit has a second supply flow path for supplying a high-pressure fluid into the space portion.

An apparatus for a nozzle is provided for engaging with lightweight preforms for blow-molding the preforms into plastic containers without damaging the finish portion of the preforms. The nozzle comprises a first cylindrical portion including a first seal, a second cylindrical portion including a second seal, and a tapered portion between the first and second cylindrical portions. The first and second cylindrical portions include diameters that are less than respective diameters of interior surfaces within the finish portion. The first and second seals are disposed around respective circumferences of the first and second cylindrical portions and configured to tightly engage with the interior surfaces of the preform while maintaining clearance between the nozzle and the interior of the finish portion. In some embodiments, the seals are configured to stabilize an orientation of the preform after being pressed onto the nozzle and facilitate conveying the preform along a manufacturing line.
