Coil structure used in endoscope and endoscope and treatment instrument including coil structure
09848759 · 2017-12-26 · ·

A coil structure used in an endoscope includes a coil tube formed by densely winding a wire rod, both ends of the coil tube being fixed, a first contact surface formed on one surface of the wire rod on a distal end side, and a second contact surface formed on the other surface of the wire rod on a proximal end side, the first contact surface coming into contact with the second contact surface. The first contact surface is formed as a convex curved surface arcuate in cross section, a curvature center of which is located further on an inner side than an outer circumferential portion of the coil tube. For the convex curved surface, a curvature radius larger than a radius of the coil tube and smaller than a curvature radius during maximum bending of an insertion section is set.

A catheter may include a distal side and a proximal side comprising a shaft having an outer tubular member, and an insertion member. The catheter may have at least a part of the insertion member in an axial direction disposed in the outer tubular member. At least one outer tubular member or insertion member is a multilayer tube having a first layer and a second layer laminated with the first layer. In a cross-section perpendicular to an axial direction of the multilayer tube, a ratio of cross-sectional areas of the second layer to the first layer is 0.7 or less.

Pull wire with coated fibers

A method is provided for making a fiber wire having a fiber bundle core and a polymer jacket. The method includes rotating a spool of fiber bundle about a first rotational axis to progressively unwind the fiber bundle from the spool. The fiber bundle includes a plurality of continuous synthetic fiber filaments. While the spool is rotated about the first rotational axis, the spool is simultaneously rotated about a second rotational axis to thereby twist the unwound fiber bundle about its longitudinal axis. The method further includes coating the twisted fiber bundle with a molten polymer, and permitting the molten polymer to cool to define a flexible outer jacket that encapsulates the twisted fiber bundle.

An endotracheal tube assembly with a plurality of curved portions is provided. A first curved portion in the endotracheal tube assembly is located adjacent to an insertion end thereof with a curvature that matches the curvature of a video laryngoscope (e.g., Glidescope®). A second curved portion in the endotracheal tube assembly is located in a central portion of the endotracheal tube assembly. The curvature of the first curved portion is greater than the curvature of the second curved portion. The first curved portion is bent at an angle of between about 120° and about 150° with respect to a straight portion of the endotracheal tube assembly. The second curved portion is bent at an angle of between about 30° and about 60° with respect to the straight portion of the endotracheal tube assembly.

INFECTION RESISTANT SURFACES FOR DEVICES

This disclosure is directed to a medical device including a surface that has been roughened to provide a roughened surface that inhibits the adhesion of microorganisms on the roughened surface.

MULTI-FLEX URINARY CATHETER

An intermittent urinary catheter assembly 100 includes a reinforcement member 106 extending longitudinally at least partially within the distal end portion of the inner drainage lumen 104 of the catheter shaft. The reinforcement member may serve to connect a drainage member 114 to the catheter shaft and includes a drainage passageway in fluid communication with the inner drainage lumen of the shaft for allowing the drainage of urine through the urinary catheter assembly.

CATHETER DELIVERED ENDOVASCULAR DEVICES

Catheter-delivered endovascular medical devices are described. The devices may include a pull wire attached to a deployable dual basket system. The deployable dual basket system may include a proximal basket and a distal basket that are connected by basket connector tether memory metal strips that rotate/twist relative to the longitudinal axes of the basket and form flex points of the system. The proximal basket and the distal basket may be comprised of a plurality of cells and the proximal basket may taper at its proximal end and the distal basket may be tapered at its distal end. Methods of using and making the devices are also described.

Magnetized Catheters, Devices, Uses And Methods Of Using Magnetized Catheters

Catheters, vascular access devices using such catheters, methods of using such catheters and uses of such catheters are disclosed. The catheter comprises polymeric tubing including a composition that can be magnetized by application of an externally applied magnetic field, thereby magnetizing the tubing. Detection of the magnetic field provides location information for the catheter in the vasculature.

Catheter having a steerable tip

A catheter includes an electromechanical polymer (EMP) actuator disposed in a steerable tip at the distal end of the catheter. When activated, the EMP actuator deflects the steerable tip through an angle between 0 and 270 degrees, thus permitting the operator to steer the steerable tip through the vasculature. The steerable tip also has at least a first relatively stiff region and a second relatively flexible region, and the EMP actuator is provided next to the first relatively stiff region so that the steerable tip may toward the flexible region when activated. In one implementation, an external interface allows a user to select by name one of many sets of control signals, with each set of control signals being signals calibrated for configuring the catheter to mimic a known catheter.
