Lubricious extruded medical tubing

A medical tube having improved lubricity is disclosed. The medical tube is produced by extruding a polymer material blended with a lubricity enhancing additive through a resilient die. The polymer material can be medical-grade high-density polyethylene, and the lubricity enhancing additive can be a silicone-based or alloy-based material. The medical tube can include one or more internal elongated protuberances so as to reduce the internal surface area of the medical tube available to generate friction on a guide wire inserted or withdrawn through the medical tube.

Packaging (5) for catheter treatment devices, such as catheters (10) including multi-electrode arrays (6), are disclosed herein. In one embodiment, for example, a catheter package assembly comprises a tray (50), a lid (80), and a coiled sheath (30) disposed in the tray. The tray includes at least one pocket (54) adapted to receive a distal end portion of a catheter. The tray and lid each include cooperative latching features (90). The sheath defines a lumen that is configured to receive an elongate shaft (4) of the catheter.

EXPANDABLE SHEATH AND SYSTEM FOR INTRAVASCULAR INSERTION OF A MEDICAL IMPLEMENT USING THE SAME

The expandable sheath and system (10) for intravascular insertion of a medical implement includes a cannula (70) for entering a lumen of a vascular vessel of a patient, a guide wire (72) insertable into the lumen, an introducer and dilator (62) adapted to follow the guide wire (72) into the lumen, an expandable sheath (40) positioned on the introducer and dilator (62), with the expandable sheath (40) being adapted to be positioned in the vessel, and an extension collar (76). The medical implement is received within the vessel by passing through the sheath (40) upon separating the introducer and dilator (62) therefrom. In one embodiment, a linear array of perforations (50) formed through the expandable sheath (40) allow for expansion. Alternatively, an external slit (16) may be provided for selective expansion of the sheath (40).

REUSABLE HYDROPHILIC URINARY CATHETER ASSEMBLY
20220305233 · 2022-09-29 ·

A reusable urinary catheter assembly comprises a storage container defining a cavity, a hydration liquid and a reusable urinary catheter. The hydration liquid includes a disinfection medium and a hydrophilic polymer. The viscosity of the hydration liquid is 40 cP or lower. The reusable urinary catheter includes a shaft, and at least a part of the shaft is provided with a hydrophilic surface. During storage, the shaft is enclosed within the cavity in a storage position. The hydration fluid hydrates and regenerates the hydrophilic surface and disinfects the catheter. The catheter is configured to be repeatedly inserted into and removed from the storage container.

A catheter assembly includes a catheter, a fluid containing sleeve, and a container. The catheter may include a tubular portion between a proximal end and a distal end, a coating on a length of the tubular portion, and at least one drainage opening on the distal end. The fluid containing sleeve is designed for arrangement on the tubular portion to maintain the coating in a hydrated state. The container may have at least one foil inner layer containing therein the catheter and the fluid containing sleeve. Substantially or nearly all fluid contained in the container may be disposed in the fluid containing sleeve.

An improved medical procedure or catheterization tray included in an improved medical procedure or catheterization package. The improved medical procedure or catheterization tray is intuitively arranged and includes instructions printed thereon to improve the medical procedure or catheterization implementation and results. In one example, a catheterization package and catheterization tray has a layout and/or arrangement of components that may help reduce CAUTI rates by facilitating ease of use and aiding in proper aseptic technique during insertion. The medical procedure or catheterization package and/or medical procedure or catheterization tray may include various implements, compartments, and components necessary and/or helpful to the medical procedure or catheterization, including, for example, improved swabs and an improved compartment for holding the swabs.

Packages for medical devices and medical device assemblies

A package (10a) for containing a medical device (12a) including a front sheet (14a) and a back sheet (15a) wherein each includes a top edge (18a, 23a), a bottom edge (19a) and opposed first (20a, 24a) and second side edges (21a, 25a), the sheets being sealed to each other by a peelable peripheral seal (26a), having a top seal zone (27a), bottom seal zone (28a), and opposed first (29a) and second side seal zones (30a), the sheets being separated to open the package by at least partially peeling the sheets apart along the first and second side seal zones; a first peel-stop (31a) located in the first side seal zone and a second peel-stop (32a) located in the second side seal zone of the peripheral seal, wherein the first and second peel-stops limit peeling of the first and second side seal zones of the peripheral seal.
