A device for installing a screen protector to an electronic device that includes a screen protector unit having a release film, a screen protector, and a protection film wherein the release film has a release tab, the protection film has at least one protection tab where the protection tab includes a hole formed therein; a tray having a panel, at least one alignment protrusion that fits the hole, a guide hole to allow external pressure to be applied onto the screen protector unit when the screen protector unit and the electronic device are received in the tray; and an adhesive strip, via the guide hole, further secures the screen protector unit to the tray. Also included is a method to using the device to install the screen protector to the screen of the electronic device.

The first raised portion is higher than the second raised portion. The auxiliary adhesive sheet is adhered to an underside of the positioning frame. The screen protector is adhered to an underside of the auxiliary adhesive sheet. The positioning frame and the auxiliary adhesive sheet are confined to the tops of the first and second raised portions, and the screen protector is inclined at an angle relative to the screen. The scraper is pressed to scrape against the auxiliary adhesive sheet for the screen protector to be adhered to the screen.

Screen protector installation machine

A screen protector installation machine uses a screen protector laminate to apply a screen protector to a cell phone. The laminate comprise a web that carries the screen protector and a backing layer. The laminate is carried by a lid coupled to a base and closable over the base. An impression in the base receives the cell phone. A first slider is carried by the lid and comprises a spool rotatable with respect to the lid. A tab of the backing layer is coupled to the spool. As the slider slides over the cell phone, the spool rotates to wind the backing layer around the spool to expose the screen protector. The lid properly positions and orients the screen protector over the mobile device. The lid is automatically lowered onto the base, and the screen protector is automatically lowered onto the mobile device, by movement of the first slider after the backing layer is removed.

A screen protector laminate applicator is used with an installation machine to install a screen protector on a mobile device. The laminate applicator comprises a web secured to the installation machine; the screen protector carried by the web, and a backing layer covering the screen protector opposite the web. The web, the screen protector and the backing layer are removably coupled together as a laminate. A tab of the backing layer extends beyond the perimeter of the screen protector and comprises an enlarged head connected to the backing layer by a narrower neck.

An overlay applicator tray can include a cradle including a device slot. The device slot can be configured to securely hold an electronic device in the cradle. The overlay applicator tray also can include an overlay applicator. The overlay applicator can include an overlay layer and an adhesive release liner. The overlay layer can include a top side and a bottom side. The bottom side can be configured to be adhered to a screen of the electronic device. The adhesive release liner can be removably attached to the bottom side of the overlay layer. The overlay applicator tray additionally can include an alignment piece coupling the cradle to the overlay applicator. The alignment piece can align the overlay layer of the overlay applicator with the screen as the overlay layer is applied to the screen when the electronic device is securely held in the device slot.
