The extravascular system further includes a septum activator slidably inserted within the catheter adapter and configured for advancement through the blood control septum to provide a fluid pathway through the blood control septum. Further still, the extravascular system includes an external safety mechanism comprising a needle hub and a needle shield interconnected via a tether, wherein the needle shield includes a safety clip that is configured to retain a sharpened end of the introducer needle within the needle shield. Some implementations further comprise an access port forming a portion of the catheter adapter and providing selective access to the lumen of the catheter adapter.
EXPANDABLE INTRODUCER SHEATH FOR MEDICAL DEVICE
An introducer sheath for the insertion of a medical device into a blood vessel having an expandable sheath. The sheath has a length, a thickness, and proximal and distal ends. The expandable sheath has a frame extending longitudinally between the proximal and the distal ends, and having an exterior surface and an interior surface that forms an interior lumen along the length of the frame. The frame is configured to achieve an expanded state and a contracted state, the expanded state forming an expanded cross-section in the lumen for passing a medical device therethrough. The frame has a smooth coating about the exterior surface and protrusions extending into the lumen along the interior surface. The introducer sheath can be introduced into a patient in the contracted state, with the distal end of the introducer sheath prevented from moving in the proximal direction by an abutment against a dilator end surface.
A Modular Catheter System
A modular tunneled catheter is provided that allows lumen length and cuff positioning to be adjusted based on the size of a patient. This catheter should be useful for any patient who would benefit from customized fitting of a catheter to their measurements. Methods of using the modular catheter for hemodialysis, peritoneal dialysis, and fluid drainage, including drainage of plural effusions from the lungs or malignant ascites from the abdomen are also described.
CATHETER
A catheter is capable of firmly fixing a shaft and a hub, and preventing a decrease in dimensional accuracy of an outer side of the hub in a radial direction. The catheter includes: a shaft that is a tubular body in which a lumen extending the shaft from a distal end to a proximal end is formed, and that includes a shaft proximal surface in which the lumen is opened and a shaft outer surface that is an outer peripheral surface of the tubular body; and a hub that is attached to the proximal end of the shaft. The hub includes a tubular accommodation unit configured to accommodate the shaft, the accommodation unit includes a hub melted surface that is directly welded to the shaft outer surface, and an absolute value of a residual strain of the accommodation unit decreases outward in a radial direction from the hub melted surface.
FLOATING HEMOSTASIS VALVE
Disclosed herein is a system for treatment including a sheath introducer and a catheter or other device. The system can have a floating hemostasis valve comprising a seal through which the shaft of the catheter can extend. The floating hemostasis valve can have elastic bellows which can allow the seal to move orthogonal to the longitudinal axis of the sheath introducer in response to an orthogonal movement of the shaft of the catheter. The elastic bellows can be configured to deform to allow the orthogonal movement of the floating hemostasis valve.
Introducer Adapters, Introducer Assemblies, and Methods
Disclosed are introducer adapters, introducer assemblies, and methods. In an example, an introducer assembly can include a syringe, a needle, and an introducer adapter fluidly coupled therebetween. The introducer adapter can include a primary conduit, a secondary conduit extending from a side of the primary conduit, and a valve including an elastomeric septum sealing a proximal portion of the primary conduit or the secondary conduit. An access guidewire is optionally loaded in the introducer adapter and sealed therein by the valve. In another example, a method can include a method for securing vascular access with the foregoing introducer assembly. Such a method can include obtaining the introducer assembly, establishing a needle tract from an area of skin to a blood-vessel lumen of a patient with the needle, and advancing at least a guidewire tip of the access guidewire into the blood-vessel lumen for the securing of the vascular access.
ROTATIONAL AND DEFLECTABLE CATHETER CONTROL ASSEMBLY
A control assembly for a catheter includes a housing extending along an axis between a proximal and distal housing end to define a housing compartment. A control case is disposed within the housing compartment, and a catheter shaft extends from the control case to a distal tip. The working component of the catheter includes at least one channel component extending from a static portion disposed in fixed and stationary relationship relative to the control case to a dynamic portion extending along and rotatable about the axis simultaneously with the catheter shaft. A lumen interruption mechanism is disposed in the control case and extends from a proximal mechanism end disposed in communication with the static portion of the channel component to a distal mechanism end disposed in communication with the dynamic portion of the channel component to transition the channel component between the static and dynamic portions.
SYSTEMS, METHODS, AND DEVICES FOR REGISTERING AND TRACKING ORGANS DURING INTERVENTIONAL PROCEDURES
Systems, methods, and devices are provided for assisting or performing guided interventional procedures using specialized catheters and inserts. A bend altering device is introduced into a conduit in an organ causing it to take on a tortuous path and to assist in its visualization. A scan is performed of a patient's anatomy to identify targets critical structures and the path of the conduit. A bend altering device containing position indicating elements is placed into the conduit in the same path as before the scan. During a procedure, the pre-procedure scans may be registered to the patient using the location of the position indicating elements in the conduit. This registration may be used in an intervention to guide instruments and templates to obtain diagnostic information or provide therapy to the targets identified in the scans.
Catheter grip and method
A method for introducing a urinary catheter of a urinary catheter package, the urinary catheter package including a grip designed for sliding movement over the urinary catheter. The grip can include a body designed to surround the urinary catheter shaft, a first flare, and a second flare. The body can include a proximal end, a distal end, and a gripping area between the proximal end and the distal end, the gripping area designed to contact the urinary catheter upon the application of force to the gripping area. The first flare can increase in cross-sectional area from the gripping area to the proximal end of the body. The second flare can increase in cross-sectional area from the gripping area to the distal end of the body. The method includes removing the urinary catheter from a proximal end of the urinary catheter package.
