Apparatus for packaging an item
A system and process of printing a package of expanded material (e.g., expanded starch, foam or other expanded material). The expanded material can be heated and extruded, poured, sprayed, or otherwise applied in malleable form that sets up to become a porous protective covering for an item to be packaged. In an example, a layer of expanded material is laid down, and the item in a protective covering (e.g., a plastic bag, sleeve, coating, etc.) is positioned on the layer of expanded material. Additional layers or expanded material may be applied, thereby encasing the item. The top surface of the expanded material may be flattened, such as by operation of a roller, press, or cutter. The top surface may be sprayed with a shellac sealant, paint, or other coating, to allow printing of a label on the top surface.

Apparatus and methods for additive manufacturing of three dimensional objects
A method of additive manufacturing a three-dimensional object by layerwise deposition of a building material with an inkjet printing system comprising a print head and a building tray, comprises calculating a weighting value for each nozzle, then for each layer obtaining a 2-D map of the layer, comprising active pixels at building material dispensing positions; obtaining a Data Correction Filter (DCF) including a height map of the previous layer, comparing the data of the 2D map to the data of the DCF at each position and determining if the nozzle at that position should dispense, then printing the layer, updating the weighting values and adjusting the position of the print head vis a vis the printing tray. The above is repeated until the three-dimensional object is printed.

Method and system for operating a metal drop ejecting three-dimensional (3D) object printer to compensate for geometric variations that occur during an additive manufacturing process
A method operates a three-dimensional (3D) metal object manufacturing system to compensate for errors that occur during object formation. In the method, thermal image data and dimensional image data of a metal object being formed by the 3D metal object manufacturing system is generated prior to completion of the metal object. Thermal conditions are identified from these data and compared to predetermined ranges corresponding to the identified thermal conditions to identify one or more errors. For identified errors outside a corresponding predetermined difference range, the method performs an error compensation technique. The error compensation includes modification of a surface data model, modification of machine-ready instructions, or operation of a subtractive device.

SHAPING DEVICE AND SHAPING METHOD
A shaping device shaping an object by forming and layering each layer based on slice images indicating cross-sectional shapes and color arrangements of the object include: a color ink ejection position determining means determining presence/absence of ejection of each ink of colors for coloring to each ejection position constituting the layer based on the slice image corresponding to the layer; a clear ink ejection position determining means determining necessity of ejection of a clear ink to each ejection position based on presence/absence of ejection of ink of each color for coloring to each ejection position determined in the color ink ejection position determining means; and a layer forming means causing a color ink head and the clear ink head to eject ink of each color and the clear ink to each ejection position as determined by the color ink ejection position and clear ink ejection position determining means.
ARTICLE OF FOOTWEAR HAVING A PLATE
A method of manufacturing a component for a sole structure of an article of footwear includes providing a printer having a platform, a first head that receives a first feed, and a second head that receives a second feed. The method further includes printing a base layer on the platform, with the base layer comprising a substrate material and defining a longitudinal axis. Additionally, the method includes printing a first fiber layer continuously on the base layer, with the first fiber layer defining a first fiber orientation that is disposed at a first angle relative to the longitudinal axis, and printing a second fiber layer continuously on the first fiber layer, the second fiber layer defining a second fiber orientation that is disposed at a second angle relative to the longitudinal axis. The first angle is different from the second angle.

THREE-DIMENSIONAL PRINTING ASSEMBLY
A method for manufacturing a part includes applying a first plurality of layers of material to a surface, inserting a mount onto the surface, applying a second plurality of layers of material onto the first plurality of layers and onto the mount, and removing the mount upon application of the second plurality of layers.
