Disclosed are microcatheter devices with features that provide effective axial response, good distribution of bending forces, and a smooth bending stiffness profile that minimizes abrupt changes in stiffness. A catheter device includes a microfabricated inner shaft having a plurality of gaps, and an outer member comprising a polymer material disposed within the gaps. The catheter device provides non-linear bending stiffness such that bending becomes more difficult as the bend angle increases.

STRAIN RELIEF ADAPTER FOR MEDICAL TUBING CONNECTION

A strain relief adapter (100) for a medicament delivery device (200) includes a flexible body (101) having a first end (102) configured to connect to one of a fluid connector and a pump connector, a second end (104) configured to connect to tubing, a hollow fluid path (108, 110, 112, 114) therethrough fluidly connecting the first and second ends, and a plurality of external strain relief ridges (106) disposed between the first and second ends.

CATHETER HANDLE WITH TORQUE MECHANISM AND VALVE RELIEF COMPONENT

A catheter includes a handle with torqueing and steering mechanisms. The torqueing mechanism includes a rotatable nosecone and a bearing coupled to the nosecone to be rotatable therewith. The bearing is concentrically disposed over a shaft of the catheter. The steering mechanism includes a rack coupled to the bearing to be slideable therewith and a pull wire having a proximal end attached to the bearing and a distal end attached to a distal portion of the shaft. Rotation of the nosecone causes an entire length of the shaft to rotate and axial movement of the rack tensions the pull wire to bend the distal portion of the shaft. A valve relief component is slidingly disposed over the shaft and is configured to dock onto the handle when not in use.

The present invention provides a catheter including a novel strain relief that prevents or suppresses kinks of a catheter body. An electrode catheter 100 including a hollow tube-shaped strain relief 200 that includes a hollow part 210 penetrating through in an axial direction, and a catheter body 10 having a base end part 10a inserted into the hollow part is provided, in which the strain relief has an outer-diameter gradually-decreasing part 230 toward a tip end, and the gradual decrease rate of the outer diameter in the outer-diameter gradually-decreasing part increases toward the tip end. The strain relief 200 includes at least two gradient change parts 241 and 242 where the gradual decrease rate of the outer diameter changes. In the strain relief 200, the inner diameter of the hollow part 210 gradually decreases from the base end to the tip end.

METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR RECTAL ANAESTHESIA

A system and method for delivering a medicament to a target tissue site in a patient over a period of time. A catheter is configured for implantation in different target tissue sites and extends from a proximal end to a distal end and has a sidewall which defines an internal lumen. The distal end has one or more apertures either in the sidewall or at a distal end for the release of the medicament into the target tissue site; the system also comprises a medicament reservoir fluidly communicable with the internal lumen of each catheter, an adhesive member configured to adhere to the skin of the patient around the exit wound and having an opening therein to allow the catheters to pass through the adhesive member and a retaining member configured to be overlaid on the adhesive member and comprising a guide surface configured to receive a length of the two or more catheters and a plurality of retaining portions to retain the catheters against the guide surface.
