The interior cavity configured to receive a mattress structure which may include a first and second support structure disposed in the interior cavity. In certain embodiments, the mattress cover has a Moisture Vapor Transfer Rate of greater than or equal 400 to less than 10,000, 7500 or more particularly less than 5000 grams per square meter per day and a hydrostatic head of 100 cm or greater and passes ASTM 1670 and ASTM 1671.

A method and apparatus for sealing a plastic enclosure is provided. The apparatus includes a handle including elements pivotally coupled together at a first end. The apparatus also includes a pair of spaced apart heating elements positioned along an inner surface of an element and connected to a power source where a longitudinal axis of the heating elements is oriented parallel with a longitudinal axis of the element. Plastic material including first and second plastic layers is positioned at an interface between the second elements. Upon pivoting the first elements from an open position to a closed position the heating elements increase a temperature at the interface to melt the plastic material and form a pair of spaced apart seals between the first and second plastic layers.

The rotary drum includes at least one seal bar, having a first sealing zone, and an adjacent weakening zone. The heating wire can have connected thereto, a source of power that is an adjustable voltage or magnitude, and/or pulsed, and/or a feedback loop. The weakening zone may create a line of weakness that is uniform or varies in intensity, is a separating zone, or includes a heat film, a toothed blade, a row of pins, a source of air, or a source of vacuum. The sealing zones ma include temperature zones, cartridge heaters, cooling air, or hated air, or a source of ultrasonic, microwave or radiative energy.

Liquid-impermeable stitching method for seam of vapor-permeable virus-barrier fabric

A fluid impervious stitching method for a seam of a vapor-permeable virus-barrier laminate. The laminate comprises: at least one thermoplastic resin fiber layer; at least one vapor-permeable virus-barrier thermoplastic elastomer film layer; and a bonding layer located between the two layers and formed of an adhesive capable of being fused with the two layers. In the stitching method, overlapping or stacking is performed to form a seam, and heat sealing is performed on the laminate at the seam. The temperature of heat sealing is higher than the melting point of a material layer having the highest melting point in the laminate, but lower than the temperature at which perforation or decomposition occurs in any material layer in the laminate. The heat-stitched seam has excellent windproof, vapor-permeable, virus barrier and liquid-barrier performance, has a smooth appearance without wrinkles, and feels soft. Also provided is a protective textile product prepared by means of the stitching method.
