Method and apparatus for adhesive bonding in an aqueous medium
The disclosure is directed to an adhesive material which can be applied underwater comprising hydrophilic adhesive molecules. In other embodiments, the adhesive material may also include hydrophilic polymers and/or an oxidizing agent.
METHOD OF BONDING FIBERS TO FORM A COMPOSITE STRUCTURE
A method for bonding fibers includes providing a first fiber layer and a second fiber layer positioned below the first fiber layer to bond the first fiber layer with the second fiber layer. The method may also include providing a first additive layer. The first additive layer is located between the first fiber layer and the second fiber layer. Then, the method may further include activating the first additive layer by directing energy at the first additive layer.
Graphene based filler material of superior thermal conductivity for chip attachment in microstructure devices
An integrated circuit chip attachment in a microstructure device is accomplished through the use of an adhesive-based material in which graphene flakes are incorporated. This results in superior thermal conductivity. The spatial orientation of the graphene flakes is controlled, for example by adhering polar molecules to the graphene flakes and exposing the flakes to an external force field, so that the graphene flakes have desired orientations under the integrated circuit chip, alongside of the integrated circuit chip and above the integrated circuit chip.
HYBRID REINFORCEMENT STRUCTURE
A structural reinforcement for insertion into a cavity of a vehicle structure including a base reinforcing portion, an expandable material and a localized reinforcement is disclosed. The localized reinforcement is placed within the structural reinforcement at a location of anticipated increased deformation during vehicle impact in an effort to reduce deformation and control the load distribution post-impact.
METHOD AND SYSTEM FOR ITEM AUTHENTICATION AND CUSTOMIZATION
A method of illumating an item is disclosed. The method includes applying adhesive to the item, interspersing a taggant in the adhesive, illuminating the item with an excitation signal, sensing luminescence emitted by the taggant in response to illumination by the excitation signal, and determining the authenticity of the item based on the sensed emitted luminescence. The item can include any item benefited by authentication, and can include a postage stamp. A method of customizing an item is disclosed. This can include the steps of preparing a substrate, applying a security feature to the substrate, printing non-customized information on the substrate, receiving image information, and printing the image information on the substrate.
SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR ATTACHING ADJUNCTS TO SURGICAL STAPLE CARTRIDGES USING BIOCOMPATIBLE ADHESIVES
The disclosed technology includes a method for attaching an adjunct to a surgical staple cartridge using a biocompatible adhesive. The method may include depositing a biocompatible adhesive onto a top surface of a surgical staple cartridge, and attaching an adjunct to the biocompatible adhesive. The biocompatible adhesive may have a component configured to reduce a sensitivity of the biocompatible adhesive to moisture and temperature.
Method for creating a transition from an edge of an add-on part mounted on the outer surface of a rotor blade
A method for creating a transition from an edge of an add-on part mounted on the outer surface of a rotor blade, including the steps: delimiting an application area on the rotor blade surface and the add-on part to be covered by a sealant compound with a thin and smooth masking tape; dispensing of the sealant on the application area; distribution of the sealant; removing the masking tape; and smoothening of a sealant transition step with a flexible tool, is provided. A wind turbine rotor blade is also provided.
Adhesively secured vacuum insulated panels for refrigerators
A method of making a cabinet for refrigerators and the like. The method includes forming a liner and a wrapper. The method further includes providing a vacuum insulated core that includes a filler material disposed inside a substantially impermeable envelope that is evacuated to form a vacuum inside of the envelope. The vacuum insulated core includes a first wall and a second wall extending transversely relative to the first wall. The core is adhesively secured to the wrapper, and the liner is adhesively secured to the core. The wrapper and the liner are sealed together at the peripheries thereof.
Integrated gas diffusion layer with sealing function and method of making the same
Techniques and implementations pertaining to an integrated gas diffusion layer with a sealing function are described. A method for making the integrated gas diffusion layer with the sealing function may involve placing a gas diffusion member inside a mold followed by injecting a sealing material into the mold. The method may also involve having the sealing material substantially covers a peripheral portion of the gas diffusion member and at least partially penetrates into a peripheral portion of the gas diffusion member. The method may further involve curing the sealing material to form a sealing member having a lip ring. A height of a portion of the mold corresponding to a non-lip ring portion of the sealing member is less than or equal to a thickness of the gas diffusion member.
