SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR MANUFACTURING A MICROFLUIDIC ROTOR DEVICE
Described herein are various embodiments directed to rotor devices, methods, and systems. Embodiments of rotors disclosed herein may be used to characterize one or more analytes of a fluid. A method may include bonding a first layer and a second layer using two-shot injection molding. The first layer coupled to the second layer may collectively define a set of wells. The first layer may be substantially transparent. The second layer may define a channel. The second layer may be substantially absorbent to infrared radiation. A third layer may be bonded to the second layer using infrared radiation. The third layer may define an opening configured to receive a fluid. The third layer may be substantially transparent. The channel may establish a fluid communication path between the opening and the set of wells.
SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR INSPECTING A MICROFLUIDIC ROTOR DEVICE
Described herein are various embodiments directed to rotor devices, systems, and kits. Embodiments of rotors disclosed herein may be used to characterize one or more analytes of a fluid. A method may include aligning an apparatus to an imaging device. The apparatus may include a set of wells defined by a first layer coupled to a second layer. The first layer may be substantially transparent to infrared radiation. The second layer may define a channel. The second layer may be substantially absorbent to the infrared radiation. The apparatus may further include a third layer coupled to the second layer and define an opening configured to receive a fluid. The third layer may be substantially transparent to the infrared radiation. A set of images of the apparatus may be generated using the imaging device. Bonding information may be generated based on the set of images.
PROCESS FOR MODIFYING AND JOINING ORIENTED PIPES
The invention relates to a modification process for modifying a biaxially oriented pipe, comprising a) providing a biaxially oriented pipe made by stretching a tube made of a thermoplastic polymer composition in the axial direction and in the peripheral direction, b) placing an insert within an end portion of the pipe, wherein the outer periphery of the cross section of the insert substantially matches the inner periphery of the cross section of the pipe and c) heating the end portion such that the end portion axially shrinks while the inner periphery of the cross section of the end portion is substantially maintained, to obtain a modified biaxially oriented pipe with a thickened end portion
CATHETERS WITH LUBRICIOUS LININGS AND METHODS FOR MAKING AND USING THEM
Apparatus and methods are provided for creating tubular devices, e.g., as components for catheters, sheaths, and or other devices sized for introduction into a patient. In one embodiment, a method is provided for making a tubular device using a sheet of material including a coated first surface. The sheet is rolled around a mandrel until longitudinal edges of the sheet are disposed near or adjacent one another, e.g., without attaching the longitudinal edges together. A tubular braid is positioned over the sheet-wrapped mandrel, one or more tubular segments are positioned over the tubular braid, and heat shrink tubing is positioned over the tubular segments. The resulting assembly is heated to cause the tubular segments to at least partially reflow and/or otherwise laminate the tubular segments to the tubular braid and sheet. The heat shrink tubing and mandrel are then removed to create the tubular device.
MANUFACTURING PROCESS FOR PAPERMAKING ENDLESS BELTS USING 3D PRINTING TECHNOLOGY
An apparatus for producing endless 3-D printed belts using in papermaking and an apparatus for producing endless 3-D printed belts laminated to a substrate for additional strength and dimensional stability during use.
Microscale fluidic devices and components having a fluid retention groove
Microscale fluidic devices and components thereof having a fluid retention groove, as well as systems and methods related thereto. The fluid retention groove facilitates uniform bonding of microfluidic device components.
METHOD OF JOINING RESIN MEMBERS
Disclosed is a method of joining resin members that includes: forming a coating layer by applying a solvent to a surface of a resin member, the solvent allowing the thermoplastic resin to have a degree of swelling of 1.05 or more and 3.00 or less when the thermoplastic resin is swollen by the solvent, and having a boiling point B? C. of R ? C. or lower where R ? C. is a glass transition temperature of the thermoplastic resin; laminating resin members one another via the coating layer to form a laminate; and pressing the laminate in the lamination direction while heating at a heating temperature H ? C. that is equal to or lower than R ? C.
Microfluidic circuit element comprising microfluidic channel with nano interstices and fabrication method thereof
A microfluidic circuit element comprising a microfluidic main channel and nano interstices is disclosed. The nano interstices are formed at both sides of the main channel and are in fluid communication with the main channel. The nano interstices have a height less than that of the main channel, gives more driving force of the microfluidic channel and provides stable flow of a fluid. The microfluidic circuit element may be made from a plastic material having a contact angle of 90 degrees or less. The microfluidic circuit element is particularly useful when filling a liquid sample to the channel which is empty or filled with air and shows greatly improved a storage stability.
Primers for use with solvent cements
Provided are primer formulations for solvent cement bonding comprising cyclopentanone and, optionally, at least one additional organic solvent. The primer formulations are effective for solvent cement bonding plastic components together, wherein the plastic components may include ABS, PVC, or CPVC pipes and/or fittings.
Nasal/oral cannula system and manufacturing
A nasal/oral cannula for collecting a flow of exhaled gases and its method of manufacture are disclosed. The cannula comprises an elongated tubular body having a first and a second end portion, a surface and an internal volume; a wall internally disposed within said tubular body, said wall defining a first subvolume of said internal volume in the lengthwise direction of the tubular body; and an inlet through said surface, for introducing exhaled gases into said first subvolume. The first end portion defines an exit port for exhaled gases from said subvolume, and said wall is arranged directly adjacent to said inlet.
