METHODS FOR CANCER TREATMENT
The present invention relates to novel surgical drains and associated methods and systems. Specifically, the present invention includes a surgical drain with at least two ports. A first port drains lymphatic fluid from a subject for collection and analysis. The second port functions to introduce a therapeutic into the subject.
Systems and methods for treating pulmonary edema
Various systems and methods are provided for treating pulmonary edema. In general, a pump can be configured to be implanted within a patient at risk of developing edema. The pump can be configured to pump fluid out of the patient's lungs, e.g., out of the patient's interstitial and alveolar spaces. The pump can be configured to be fully implanted within the patient's body. The pump can be configured to continuously pump fluid, or the pump can be configured to be selectively actuatable in response to a trigger event. In an exemplary embodiment, the pump can include an inflow port coupled to an inflow tube in fluid communication with a lymphatic vessel of the patient, and can include an outflow port coupled to an outflow tube in fluid communication with a vein of the patient.
Adjustable implantable devices and associated methods
The present technology includes systems and methods for invasively adjusting implantable devices for selectively controlling fluid flow between a first body region and a second body region of a patient. For example, in many of the embodiments described herein, a catheter can be used to mechanically and/or electrically engage an implanted medical device. Once the catheter engages the medical device, the catheter can (i) increase a dimension associated with the medical device, such as through mechanical expansion forces, and/or (ii) decrease a dimension associated with the medical device, such as by heating a shape memory component of the medical device above a phase transition temperature.
INTEGRATED AQUEOUS SHUNT FOR GLAUCOMA TREATMENT
Glaucoma treatment devices are disclosed. In various example, the glaucoma treatment devices include multiple microporous layers arranged together to form a microporous body configured to help facilitate evacuation of fluid from a fluid-filled body cavity, and reabsorption of the evacuated aqueous humor by the body through tissue surrounding the glaucoma treatment device. In some examples, the glaucoma treatment device includes one or more portions configured to resist cellular ingrowth, and one or more portions configured to permit cellular ingrowth.
FLOW CONTROL VALVE
The present disclosure relates generally to the field of medical devices and establishing fluid communication between body lumens. In particular, the present disclosure relates to devices and methods for establishing a controlled flow or access passage between body lumens.
INTRACARDIAC PRESSURE SENSOR WITH CLIP STRUCTURE
The present technology relates to intracardiac pressure monitoring devices, and associated systems and methods. In some embodiments, the present technology includes a device for monitoring pressure within a patient's heart. The device can include a pressure sensor configured to reside within a first chamber of a heart of a patient, and a pressure transmission element configured to extend from the first chamber through a septal wall to a second chamber of the heart of the patient. When the device is implanted in the patient's heart, the pressure transmission element is configured to transmit pressure from the second chamber to the pressure sensor residing within the first chamber.
Negative Pressure Therapy System and Methods
A system for removing fluid from a urinary tract includes at least one sensor configured to detect signal(s) representative of pulmonary artery pressure and communicate signal(s) representative of the pulmonary artery pressure and a controller. The controller is configured to: receive and process the signal(s) from the at least one sensor to determine if the pulmonary artery pressure is above, below, or at a predetermined value; and provide a control signal, determined at least in part from the pulmonary artery pressure signal(s) received from the at least one sensor, to a negative pressure source to apply negative pressure to a urinary catheter to remove fluid from a urinary tract when the pulmonary artery pressure is above the predetermined value and to cease applying negative pressure when the pulmonary artery pressure is at or below the predetermined value.
Negative Pressure Therapy System and Methods
A system for removing fluid from a urinary tract includes: at least one sensor configured to detect signal(s) representative of bioelectrical impedance and communicate signal(s) representative of the impedance; and a controller. The controller is configured to: receive and process the signal(s) from the at least one sensor to determine if the impedance is above, below, or at a predetermined value; and provide a control signal, determined at least in part from the signal(s) representative of the impedance received from the at least one sensor, to a negative pressure source to apply negative pressure to a urinary catheter when the impedance is below the predetermined value and to cease applying negative pressure when the impedance is at or above the predetermined value.
Heart assisting device
The present invention relates to surgical or laparoscopic method of creating and maintaining an opening in the thoracic diaphragm of a patient. In said method, an incision in the thoracic diaphragm is created, thereby creating an opening in the thoracic diaphragm. Further a diaphragm passing part is placed in said opening created in the thoracic diaphragm, passing from the abdomen, through the thoracic diaphragm at the pericardial contacting section, into the pericardium; When placing the diaphragm passing part a force transferring part of the diaphragm passing part is placed in contact with the thoracic diaphragm, the force transferring part being adapted to, by motion of the force transferring part, transfer force between the abdominal side of the thoracic diaphragm and the thoracic side of the thoracic diaphragm or the pericardium while sliding against the thoracic diaphragm.
Drainage device comprising a filter cleaning device
The present invention relates to a filtering device for removing particles from a bodily fluid of a patient, the filtering device being implantable in the patient's body. The device has a tube forming a main fluid passageway for bodily fluid, through which the bodily fluid of the patient passes when the tube is implanted in the patient, a filter connected to the tube and a filter cleaning device for cleaning the filter by moving particles collected by the filter out of the fluid passageway, wherein the filter cleaning device is adapted to replace the first filter in the fluid passageway with a second filter, thereby moving the particles collected by the first filter out of the fluid passageway.
