MEDICAL APPARATUS FOR DILATING TARGET PART
20230086026 · 2023-03-23 ·

A medical device for dilating a target tissue includes: a first lateral portion; a second lateral portion; and a middle portion connecting the first lateral portion and the second lateral portion and disposed between the first lateral portion and the second lateral portion. The medical device has a dilate mechanism. The dilate mechanism allows the first lateral portion and the second lateral portion to be in a first dilated state when a first criterion is met, and allows the middle portion to be in a second dilated state when a second criterion is met, but does not allow the middle portion to be in the second dilated state when the first criterion is met.

System and Method for Determining a Safe Access Trajectory to a Surgical Site

A system and method for determining an access trajectory to a target site to safely place a surgical access instrument (e.g., guide wire, dilator, cannula, etc.) through a tissue (e.g., muscle, fat, brain, liver, lung, etc.) without damaging nearby neurovascular structure is described herein. The trajectory determination system includes a nerve stimulation probe and a dilator guide having a plurality of guide channels and registerable to an operating table in a fixed orientation. Motor nerve stimulation (e.g., EMG, MMG) is performed with the stimulation probe positioned in each of said plurality of guide channels to generate a map of nerve locations within intervening anatomical structures (e.g., muscle, bone, etc.) between the dilator guide and the surgical target site. Available access pathways are determined based on the nerve location data and displayed on a display unit.

The disclosure provides for a device and method for dilation. The dilation device may include a catheter body having a proximal portion and a distal portion, a dilation expandable body in fluid communication with a first opening on the distal portion of the catheter body, and an occlusion anchor expandable body in fluid communication with a second opening on the distal portion of the catheter body. The method for dilating a stricture site may include inserting the dilation device into a stricture site of a patient, expanding the occlusion anchor expandable body at the stricture site, and expanding the dilation expandable body at the stricture site.

An apparatus includes an elongated medical dilator including a cautery device configured to selectively form, by cauterization, a tissue passage through a tissue portion of a living body. The elongated medical dilator also includes a dilation device configured to dilate the tissue passage once the cautery device selectively formed the tissue passage.

Ophthalmic artery therapy under reverse flow

A method may include positioning a first device within an internal carotid artery of a subject and impeding antegrade blood flow in the internal carotid artery. Additionally, the method may include delivering a pharmaceutical agent through an external carotid artery for passage into an ophthalmic artery of the subject.
