Ultrasonic bonding tool and ultrasonic bonding method
10625475 · 2020-04-21 · ·

An ultrasonic bonding tool is used on a horn side or anvil side of an ultrasonic joining device in which two synthetic resin sheets that include a polyethylene layer, a polypropylene layer and a ceramic heat-resistant layer are superposed and joined together so that the heat-resistant layers face each other. The ultrasonic bonding tool includes a plurality of protrusions shaped as quadrangular pyramids having a flat top surface. Each of the protrusions has an apex angle formed by two mutually opposite side surfaces that is within a range of 110-130. When two separators of a battery cell are joined together using the ultrasonic bonding device with the ultrasonic bonding tool, a force with which the separators adhere to the protrusions is weak. In this way, the separators do not adhere to the horn during ultrasonic bonding of the synthetic resin sheets.

Pre-polymerized thermosetting composite part and methods for making such a part

A part made of a fiber-reinforced composite material includes a structure made from a set of fibers supported in a thermosetting resin and a peel ply across all or part of the outer surface of the structure. The part has a gradient of polymerization at the interface between the structure and the peel ply. Also, methods for making such a part and methods for bonding such parts.

Controlling direction and magnitude of weld force vector during a plastic welding operation

A plastic welding machine for welding plastic parts together is capable of controlling the weld force vector in both magnitude and direction.

METHOD FOR JOINING DISSIMILAR MATERIALS

A composition of matter includes a first compatible material having particles containing chemical elements similar to a first substrate, and second compatible material having particles containing chemical elements similar to a second substrate, wherein the first substrate and the second substrate are chemically different. The particles are dispersed into a matrix that is in between the first and the second substrate. A deposition system has a multi-material printhead, a first reservoir of a first compatible material having particles containing chemical elements similar to a first substrate, a second reservoir of a second compatible material having particles containing chemical elements similar to a second substrate, a third reservoir of an polymer precursor material, and at least one mixer. A method of bonding a joint between dissimilar substrate materials includes functionalizing a first compatible material having chemical elements similar to a first substrate, mixing the first compatible material with a polymer precursor material, functionalizing a second compatible material having chemical elements similar to a second substrate, mixing the second compatible material with a polymer precursor material, and using the deposition system to deposit the first and second compatible materials and a polymer precursor material on the joint between the first and second substrate materials.

A method for producing a tool including a sheet, the method including the steps of: providing a first cellulose sheet; attaching first and second plastic layers each to one side of the first cellulose sheet; upon the attaching, placing a first side of a plastic object on the first plastic layer; pressing a metal object on a portion of a second side of the plastic object; vibrating the metal object parallel to the first plastic layer together with the pressing thereon; and ceasing the vibrating, thereby ceasing the heating.

INSULATED CONTAINER

A container is formed to include an interior region and a mouth opening into the interior region. The container includes a floor and a side wall coupled to the floor to define the interior region between the floor and the side wall

PLASTICITY INDUCED BONDING

Methods and apparatuses for bonding polymeric parts are disclosed. Specifically, in one embodiment, the polymeric parts are bonded by plastically deforming them against each other while they are below the glass transition temperatures.

Method for joining fiber-reinforced plastic material

A method is provided for joining a fiber-reinforced joining element, formed from a plastic material, to the joining surfaces thereof by way of an ultrasonic welding method. A concentrator and/or at least one insertion element is arranged in the region of the joining surfaces prior to fusing between the joining surfaces, and the concentrator and/or the insertion element are fused together with the joining surfaces in order to form a positive fit joint therewith after hardening.

Plasticity induced bonding

Methods and apparatuses for bonding polymeric parts are disclosed. Specifically, in one embodiment, the polymeric parts are bonded by plastically deforming them against each other while they are below the glass transition temperatures. A method includes: placing a first polymeric part in contact with a second polymeric part; and plastically deforming the first polymeric part and the second polymeric part against each other to bond the first polymeric part to the second polymeric part. Additionally, during the plastic deformation, a temperature of the first polymeric part is less than a glass transition temperature of the first polymeric part and a temperature of the second polymeric part is less than a glass transition temperature of the second polymeric part.
