Contrast assisted intravascular ultrasound imaging

A method of imaging a blood vessel includes delivering a bubble-based contrast agent within the vessel and positioning at least one ultrasound device in the vicinity of the bubble-based contrast agent within the vessel. A first burst of low-frequency ultrasound energy can be delivered to excite the bubble-based contrast agent into oscillation within the vessel, and a second burst of high-frequency ultrasound energy can be delivered at the excited bubble-based contrast agent. A return signal from the burst of high-frequency ultrasound energy can be received and processed to obtain one or more images.

MULTI-FUNCTION CATHETER AND METHODS FOR DIAGNOSIS AND/OR TREATMENT OF VENOUS THROMBOEMBOLIC DISEASE

Some aspects of the present disclosures includes catheters and methods of operating catheters having an elongated body that defines one or more first ports extending through a peripheral surface of the body, a plurality of interior lumens extending longitudinally through the catheter, and one or more tubes each having a sidewall defining a tube lumen in fluid communication with one of the first ports, the one or more tubes configured to shift between a collapsed configuration and an expanded configuration in which the one or more tubes define a cage shape having an unconstrained maximum transverse dimension that larger than a corresponding maximum transverse dimension of the catheter body, where in the collapsed configuration, at least part of tube(s) is radially closer to the catheter body than when in the expanded configuration.

The disclosure concerns a medical kit arranged with componentry for fluorescein sodium (FNa)-based diagnosis and trichloroacetic acid (TCA)-based treatment of neoplastic tissue, and related methods for utilizing aspects of the medical kit.

SOLID COMPOSITION FOR THE ORAL ADMINISTRATION OF DYES AND DIAGNOSTIC USE THEREOF

The present application discloses solid compositions for the oral administration of dyes, and diagnostic use thereof. Preferably, such diagnostic use is aimed at the diagnostic evaluation of the gastrointestinal tract.

Devices, systems and methods useable for treating frontal sinusitis

Devices, systems and methods wherein a dilator, such as a balloon or other expandable member, is positionable within the frontal sinus ostium and adjacent frontal recess and useable to dilate the frontal sinus ostium and substantially all of the frontal sinus recess without requiring repositioning and repeated re-expansion of the dilator. One balloon catheter device of the invention comprises a catheter body that is less than about 50 cm in length (and in some embodiments less than 25 cm in length and a semi-compliant or non-compliant balloon on the catheter body. The balloon may have a working length of about 12 mm to about 30 mm and a width at its widest point when fully inflated of about 2 mm to about 7 mm. Such balloon may be constructed to withstand inflation pressures of about 12 atmospheres. In some embodiments, the dilator is advanced through or over a guide (e.g., guidewire or guide catheter) that has a preformed shape.

DEVICES AND METHODS FOR OPTICAL PATHOLOGY

Currently most cancers, including breast cancers, are removed without any intraoperative margin control. Post-operative methods inspect 1-2% of the surgical margin and are prone to sampling errors. The present invention relates to an optical imaging system that will enable evaluation of the surgical margin in vivo and in real-time. The invention provides for simultaneous fluorescence and fluorescence polarization imaging. The contrast of the acquired images will be enhanced using fluorescent agents approved for diagnostic use in patients. As the staining pattern of fluorescence images is similar to that of histology, and the values of fluorescence polarization are significantly higher in cancerous as compared to normal cells, the invention provides for further improvements in diagnostic methods. The systems and methods can be applied to the intra-operative delineation of cancerous tissue.

Crescent channel dye flow enabled guide catheters

An intravascular catheter is disclosed that includes an elongated shaft defined by a wall including at least one port extending through the wall into a lumen. At least one channel may be defined between layers of polymer making up the catheter shaft. The channel extends along at least a portion of the shaft and is in fluid communication with the port. Outer and inner diameters of the catheter may be substantially constant along the length of the catheter.

CATHETER FOR TAVR PROCEDURES

Embodiments of the invention include a single lumen catheter for delivering high pressure contrast injection for TAVR procedures. The catheter comprises a main lumen for delivering contrast media extending from the proximal end to the distal pigtail end, a distal end hole for delivering contrast media, one or more side holes proximate of the end hole along the catheter shaft on the distal angled portion, a distal angled section that is angled from the main catheter lumen axis, a distal pigtail configuration that is angled from the axis of the distal section, and a distal pigtail loop. Other embodiments are also included herein.

DOUBLE THREADED GUIDANCE OR STIFFENING WIRE FOR MULTIPLE USE VERTEBRAL AUGMENTATION (VA) BALLOON
20180168705 · 2018-06-21 ·

A catheter device that includes a double-threaded guidance wire that allows multiple use of a compliant cavity creation device (i.e., treatment of more than one level). The double-threaded guidance wire may be connected with the luer part of the device and a distal part of the balloon using a threaded engagement to avoid lengthening of the inner tube, avoid lengthening of the balloon, and to limit the plastic deformation of the system in axial direction. In other implementations, the double-threaded guidance wire may be reconnected to the distal part of the balloon with a distal thread of the double-threaded guidance wire in order to restore the nominal length.

INGESTIBLE DEVICE AND ASSOCIATED METHODS

An ingestible device is disclosed which can produce spectral data of one or more analytes, as well as associated methods for characterizing the gastrointestinal tract of a subject which contains such analytes. Related kits and systems are also disclosed.
