The invention relates to a plastic-welding device for connecting a first, thin-walled plastic part to a second plastic part in a planar manner. The device includes a hand-held mounting aid and a welding head that can be held in a retainer of a hand soldering iron; wherein the welding head has a main body and at least one welding tip arranged on the main body. The mounting aid has at least one spacer, which can be placed onto the thin-walled plastic part by means of an underside of the at least one spacer and on the surface of which the main body of the welding head can be supported. The spacer is designed so that, when the main body is supported on the at least one spacer, a depth of penetration of the welding tip into the plastic parts to be connected is limited to a predetermined maximum value.

Installation assembly and associated method for forming a bonded joint

An installation assembly and an associated method for forming a bonded join are provided to permit the adhesive attachment of a first workpiece, such as a patch, to a portion of a second workpiece. The installation assembly and the associated method provide for at least partial debulking of the adhesive prior to curing of the adhesive such that the resulting bondline may have improved mechanical properties as a result of having fewer voids and/or porosity. The installation assembly may include an installation stand and a carrier plate supported by the installation stand and including an attachment surface configured to carry the first workpiece. The installation stand also includes an adjustment mechanism for positioning a carrier plate to a first predefined position to define a gap between the first and second workpieces and also to a second predefined position such that a predetermined bondline thickness is defined between the first and second workpieces.

No-drill permanent-like surface mounting device

This invention relates to the configuration of a mounting base and a method of mounting objects to hard surfaces using the combination of at least one anchoring screw, bolt, rod, or assembly; one mounting base; and one chemical bonding material to perform the anchoring function.

Method of through-thickness reinforcing a laminated material
09944023 · 2018-04-17 · ·

A method of providing through-thickness reinforcement of a laminated material which includes a matrix material including a step of creating a locally heated zone in the laminated material so as to locally soften the matrix material by focussing a set of at least two energy beams at a location where through-thickness reinforcement is required and a step of inserting a reinforcement element through the thickness of the laminated material at the location of the locally heated zone to through-thickness reinforce the laminated material.

Bodywork part with integrated anti-pinching system

A bodywork part for a motor vehicle is provided. The bodywork part includes a main body made from a plastic material and an anti-pinching system. The latter comprises a capacitive sensor comprising at least a first conductive wire integrated into the thickness of the main body by welding, said capacitive sensor being able to detect the presence of an object or a hand of a user in said peripheral zone.

Internal tensioning structure useable with inflatable devices
09901186 · 2018-02-27 · ·

An internal tensioning structure for use in an inflatable product fulfills the basic function of maintaining two adjacent inflatable surfaces in a desired geometric arrangement when the inflatable product is pressurized. The tensioning structure is formed by connecting a pair of plastic strips sheets via spaced-apart strands, such as strings or wires. When pulled taut, the strands provide a high tensile strength between the two opposed plastic strips. At the same time, the plastic strips facilitate a strong, long-lasting weld between the tensioning structure and the inflatable product.

JOINING STRUCTURE OF RESIN MEMBER FOR VEHICLE BODY AND STUD BOLT
20180029303 · 2018-02-01 · ·

There is provided a joining structure of a resin member for a vehicle body and a stud bolt that can more strongly fix a stud bolt to a resin member for a vehicle body by an ultraviolet curable adhesive. Convex portions are provided at a portion, which structures a flange-adjacent portion, of a mounting surface portion of a resin member for mounting. Therefore, a surface area of adhesion with adhesive at a place, which is covered by a flange portion as seen in a plan view, of the mounting surface portion can be made to be large. As a result, adhesive force of a portion, which is cured by diffused ultraviolet rays, of the adhesive A that is covered by the flange portion as seen in a plan view can be made to be large.

Laser beam welding method and molded components fabricated thereby

The invention relates to a method for laser welding two plastic components A, B brought into contact at least in the joining area, wherein component B facing away from the laser radiation consists of a plastic matrix with a white pigmentation of 1.5 5-20 wt.-%, and component A facing the laser radiation, through which the laser beam passes in the welding process, exhibits a plastic matrix. For a given laser wavelength the travel distance of the laser beam through the component A measures at most 10 mm, and given a white pigmentation of the component A in wt.-%, the product of the travel distance of the laser 10 beam through the component A in mm and white pigmentation in wt.-% is less than 1.25, and the travel distance of the laser beam through the component A measures at most 1 mm.

The disclosure provides a method for the bonding of polytetrafluoroethylene sheets of various thicknesses to various surfaces. A method may include removing contaminants from a substrate for the application of the polytetrafluoroethylene sheet; applying adhesive to an etched side of the polytetrafluoroethylene sheet; and installing the polytetrafluoroethylene sheet to the substrate.

Attaching an object to a substrate
12172385 · 2024-12-24 · ·

A method of attaching an object to a substrate with a fastener, and an associated fastener. The object is tensible and has an engagement portion. The fastener has a protrusion, which includes thermoplastic material in a solid state. The method includes applying a mechanical pressing force and a mechanical excitation capable to cause a movement of the fastener in a distal direction so that the protrusion penetrates into the substrate and liquefies the thermoplastic material until a flow portion of the thermoplastic material is flowable and penetrates into structures of the substrate. The engagement portion is moved in the distal direction by the movement of the fastener, wherein the movement of the engagement portion in the distal direction causes a tensioning force in the object, and wherein the fastener has a protruding portion extending at least partly into the substrate after the thermoplastic material resolidifies.
