A prepreg and an integrally molded article are described, the prepreg including a thermoplastic resin existing on one face of a layer in which reinforcing fibers are impregnated with a thermosetting resin, wherein the prepreg exhibits, in injection molding or press molding, thermal weldability with a member containing a thermoplastic resin, and wherein the thermosetting resin has a specific peak on a loss tangent (tan δ) curve obtained by dynamic mechanical analysis (DMA), so that the prepreg exhibits suitable flexibility and adhesiveness, excellent formability on a complicated mold face, and adhesion to a mold face, causes no positional shift, and can be efficiently reinforced and stiffened at an intended position.
METHOD FOR PRODUCING AN ANNULAR CASING FOR AN AIRCRAFT TURBINE ENGINE
Methods for producing an annular casing for an aircraft turbine engine are provided. The annular casing includes an annular body made from a composite material based on a first resin, and a fire-resistant outer layer which covers an external annular surface of the body and which is made from a composite material based on a self-extinguishing second resin. The method includes preparing a strip of a glass fabric preimpregnated with said second resin, this strip including woven fibres oriented in directions that are perpendicular to one another and inclined by an angle of approximately 45° with respect to the axis of elongation of the strip, and applying the strip to the external surface of the body so as to cover the entirety of this surface in a single pass of the strip around the body.
MIXTURE OF NON-REACTIVE THERMOPLASTIC POLYMER AND REACTIVE THERMOPLASTIC POLYMER AND USE THEREOF FOR PREPARING COMPOSITES
The use of a composition including a mixture of at least one non-reactive thermoplastic polymer of Tg >40° C., especially >100° C., in particular >120° C., and at least one reactive thermoplastic prepolymer, with a fibrous material, for the preparation of a fibrous material impregnated with the composition, the composition having an initial melt viscosity during the impregnation, as measured in plate-plate rheology under 1 Hz and 2% strain, at a temperature of 300° C., of less than the viscosity of the same composition devoid of reactive prepolymer, measured under the same conditions, and/or a ductility, after in situ polymerization of the reactive thermoplastic prepolymer in the composition during the impregnation and after the impregnation, that is at least equivalent to the ductility of the same composition devoid of non-reactive thermoplastic polymer, and of which said reactive thermoplastic prepolymer is polymerized to the same number-average molecular mass (Mn).
FRP MOLDED PRODUCT AND MANUFACTURING METHOD OF FRP MOLDED PRODUCT
An FRP molded product formed by impregnating a fiber base material with a matrix resin using a flow medium, wherein the flow medium has a sheet shape and comprises fibers made of a phenoxy resin, the matrix resin is an epoxy resin, the fiber base material and the flow medium are stacked, at least part of the flow medium is hardened in a state where the part of the flow medium is integrated with the matrix resin by dissolution or adhesion, and the hardened flow medium becomes a design face.
Aligned fiber reinforced molding
Methods and apparatus for additive manufactures of complex parts using co-aligned continuous fibers are disclosed. Filament subunits having complex shapes are fabricated and inserted into a mold cavity. The layup is compression molded to form a complex part having high tensile strength.
PREPREG, LAMINATE, AND MOLDING
An object of the present invention is to provide a prepreg and a laminate for producing a laminate suitable as a structural material, which have excellent compressive strength and interlaminar fractural toughness values, and can be firmly integrated with another structural member by welding. The present invention provides a prepreg including the following structural components [A] reinforcing fibers, [B] a thermosetting resin, and [C] a thermoplastic resin, in which [B] has a rubbery state elastic modulus of 10 MPa or more at a temperature obtained by adding 50° C. to a glass transition temperature in a state in which a degree of cure is 90% or more, [C] is present in a surface of the prepreg, and the reinforcing fibers [A] are present, which are included in a resin area including {B] and a resin area including [C] across an interface between the two resin areas.
OPTIMIZED INTERLAYER FOR A SPAR CAP FOR A WIND TURBINE BLADE
The present invention relates to an interlayer sheet for a spar cap comprising: a first fibre layer comprising a first plurality of fibres, having a first upper fibre surface and a first lower fibre surface, a second fibre layer comprising a second plurality of fibres, having a second upper fibre surface and a second lower fibre surface. The first fibre layer is arranged on top of the second fibre layer, such that the first lower fibre surface is in contact with the second upper fibre surface. The first fibre layer is of a different characteristic than the second fibre layer. Furthermore, the present invention relates to a spar cap for a wind turbine blade, comprising a plurality of pre-cured fibre-reinforced elements including at least a first pre-cured fibre-reinforced element and a second pre-cured fibre-reinforced element; and a number of interlayer sheets arranged between the plurality of pre-cured fibre-reinforced elements.
Multi-part molds and methods for forming complex fiber-composite parts
A multi-part compression mold for forming a complex part having a desired fiber alignment, and methods therefor, are disclosed. The multi-part mold comprises at least three sections. Specific arrangements of fiber-bundle-based preforms are introduced to more than one of the mold sections of the multi-part mold, and subjected to compression molding. The arrangements of preforms, in conjunction with the multi-part mold, result in a complex part having fibers that substantially align with anticipated principle stress vectors that arise in the complex part, when in use.
