METHOD FOR MANUFACTURING HIGH-PRESSURE TANK
A cylindrical winding body is formed by winding continuous fibers impregnated with a first thermosetting resin in a circumferential direction, and the first thermosetting resin in the winding body is thermally cured. A pair of dome members is joined to both end portions of the cylinder member. A fiber bundle impregnated with a second thermosetting resin is helically wound around the joined member over the dome members, and the second thermosetting resin in the wound fiber bundle is thermally cured. A thermosetting resin containing a main agent and a granular solid curing agent is used as the first thermosetting resin, the main agent including a resin precursor and the solid curing agent chemically bonding molecules of the resin precursor together.
Pre-filled radius layups
A void between two or more composite laminate parts is filled by a composite laminate filler that is laid up and integral with at least one of the parts.
Attachment methods for surface features of wind turbine rotor blades
The present disclosure is directed to methods for attaching a plurality of surface features to a rotor blade of a wind turbine. Such methods may include direct molding of the surface features to the rotor blade, bonding arrays of connected components to the rotor blade and subsequently removing connections between components, as well as using a flexible template with or without a tinted adhesive.
Composite structure having thermoplastic radius filler
A method of manufacturing a cured composite structure includes inserting a plurality of radius filler segments into a radius cavity extending along a length of an uncured composite base member to form an uncured structural assembly. The plurality of radius filler segments are placed in end-to-end arrangement within the radius cavity and each having opposing segment ends and being formed of a thermoplastic material. The method additionally includes heating the structural assembly at least to a base member cure temperature that causes the segment ends of end-to-end pairs of the plurality of radius filler segments to fuse together and form a continuous radius filler element that extends along the length of the composite base member. The method also includes allowing the structural assembly to cure to form a cured composite structure.
MOLDING METHOD OF WATERPROOF MEMBER
A molding method of a waterproof member is provided. The waterproof member is molded by molds and is for a coated electric wire. The molds include mold division surfaces including molding portions and electric wire mold clamping portions. The electric wire mold clamping portions are to sandwich the coated electric wire at sides of the molding portions. One of the electric wire mold clamping portions includes a convex portion and a side wall erected on an end of the convex portion. The other of the electric wire mold clamping portions includes a concave portion. One of the molding portions includes a side wall entering groove into which the side wall enters. The method includes molding the waterproof member accommodated in the concave portion with the waterproof member being pressed by the convex portion toward a direction in which one of the mold is attached to the other.
Method of printing a contoured object using color and structural layers
A method of printing a three-dimensional color object having a contoured surface onto a substrate includes printing color ink layers and structural ink layers. A color ink layer is printed onto the substrate. Structural ink layers are printed onto the color ink layer to build the three-dimensional shape of the object. The contoured surface is formed from varying the heights of pixel columns in the printing information. The heights of the pixel columns may be varied by printing different numbers of layers in adjacent columns or by printing the same number of layers in adjacent columns where some pixels in a column have different thicknesses than other pixels in the column.
BLADE MADE OF COMPOSITE MATERIAL AND HAVING AN ENHANCED EROSION PROTECTION FILM, AND ASSOCIATED PROTECTION METHOD
A turbomachine blade including a blade body made of fiber-reinforced organic matrix composite material, the blade body having a pressure side and a head provided with an apex; an erosion protection film which is made of a thermoplastic polymer and adhered to the blade body; a reinforcement layer which is made of a thermosetting polymer and positioned on the erosion protection film on the head of the blade.
Method of making composite objects by additive manufacturing
A method of making a composite article comprised of a first component (10) and a second component (30) includes (a) providing a first component (10) and an optically transparent member (22) having a build surface with the first component having a first three-dimensional interfacing segment formed thereon; (b) immersing the first three-dimensional interfacing segment in polymerizable liquid (21); (c) forming an intermediate object by irradiating a build region with light through an optically transparent member and also advancing the first three-dimensional component and the build surface away from one another to form from the polymerizable liquid (21) a second component (30) on said first three-dimensional interfacing segment, with the second component including a second three-dimensional interfacing segment in contact with the first three-dimensional interfacing segment; then (d) optionally washing the intermediate; and then (e) further solidifying the second three-dimensional component (30) on said first three-dimensional component (10) to form said composite article.
System and method for making pin reinforced sandwich panel and resulting panel structure
A system for forming a structural member which includes a first collimated light source and a reservoir containing a volume of photo-monomer resin wherein the first collimated light source is positioned spaced apart from the photo-monomer resin. The system further includes a first face sheet structure defining at least one bore which extends through the first face sheet structure wherein a portion of the first face sheet structure is positioned under a surface of the volume of photo-monomer resin such that photo-monomer resin is positioned within the bore.
Bicycle crank arm and insert therefore
A crank arm for a bicycle may include a body extending along a body axis and having a first body end and a second body end axially spaced apart from the first body end. The insert may also include an insert provided toward the first body end. The insert may include a base portion having a radially outer surface. At least one extension may extend outwardly from the radially outer surface and may be encased within a corresponding recess in the body whereby relative planar movement between the body and the at least one extension in a first plane. The retaining portion may have a retaining portion width measured in the first direction and the retaining width may be greater than the throat width thereby inhibiting relative radial movement between the at least one extension and the recess and preventing radial extraction of the extension from the corresponding recess.
