Composite gear assembly and method of making same

A composite hybrid gear assembly includes a gear hub formed from a composite material and a gear head assembly. The gear hub includes a shaft region having an axially symmetrical external profile and a hub web region having a flared profile extending from the shaft region. The gear head assembly includes a head web region and a teeth region where the gear head assembly is fixed to the gear hub. Additionally, the composite hybrid gear assembly includes a first sleeve fixed to an external surface of the shaft region. An associated method of making a composite hybrid gear assembly is also provided.

JAW MEMBER, END EFFECTOR ASSEMBLY, AND METHOD OF MANUFACTURING A JAW MEMBER OF AN ELECTROSURGICAL INSTRUMENT

A jaw member of a surgical instrument includes a structural frame, an insulative spacer supported on the structural frame, an electrically conductive tissue contacting plate supported on the insulative spacer, and a lead wire. The spacer defines a pocket at an upper portion thereof and includes a channel extending from the pocket, through the spacer, to a bottom portion of the spacer. The channel defines a substantially U-shaped configuration having first and second radiused corners at the bottom portion of the spacer. The lead wire is attached to an underside of the plate at an attachment point within the pocket and extends distally from the attachment point into the channel, through the channel, over the first and second radiused corners, and proximally from the jaw member. The lead wire is adapted to connect to a source of energy to energize the plate for treating tissue.

Attachment interface for connecting a vehicle composite component

An attachment interface is provided for connecting a vehicle composite component having a plate portion that is made of a fiber reinforced polymer and has a passage extending in a through manner along an axis. The attachment interface provides a metal attachment device, which includes an inner portion engaging the passage and an outer portion defining a connection point suitable to be connected to another vehicle element. The plate portion is axially sandwiched between two layers made of a fiber reinforced polymer composite material selected from the group consisting of BMC (Bulk Molding Compound), LFT (Long Fiber Thermoplastic) and DLFT (Direct Long Fiber Thermoplastic).

Fluid Transfer Assembly, A Fluid Transfer System, and a Related Method

Fluid transfer assemblies for transferring fluid into or out of a single vessel and distributing the fluid to multiple other vessels are provided. The fluid transfer assemblies are customizable, substantially aseptic, and single-use. The fluid transfer assemblies may be manufactured by solidifying polymeric materials to form a body around a mandrel with protrusions engaged to fluid conduits and leaving recesses in the solidified polymeric material to stretch the resultant body and remove the mandrel with protrusions. The resultant fluid transfer assembly may be surrounded by a rigid housing and valves may be engaged with the conduits and/or body to control the fluid flow within the fluid transfer assembly.

Sealed cable passage for an exhaust-gas sensor

A cable passage for sealing and for electrically contacting an exhaust-gas sensor includes: a protective sleeve; and at least one connecting cable which is run out of the protective sleeve on at least one front side of the protective sleeve. At least one cross section of the space existing between the protective sleeve and the at least one connecting cable is filled with a thermoplastically workable fluoropolymer-containing material.
