BLADE FOR A WIND TURBINE AND METHOD FOR MANUFACTURING A BLADE
A blade for a wind turbine including heating means connected to power cables, a lightning protection system including a down conductor, and surge protection devices is provided. The heating means include a first radiant element and a second radiant element arranged adjacent to each other around a leading edge of the blade, the first radiant element being connected to the power supply cables through respective electrical connectors at the respective connection points, and the down conductor is connected to each power supply cable at the connection points through the respective surge protection device, the second radiant element being connected to the first radiant element so that the second radiant element is electrically supplied only through the first radiant element.
PREPREGS AND CURED COMPOSITES HAVING IMPROVED SURFACES AND PROCESSES OF MAKING AND METHODS OF USING SAME
The present invention discloses cured composites having improved surfaces and processes of making and methods of using same. Such processes use ultra-short pulse lasers, for example, a femto-second laser to ablate material without the detrimental heat affected zones of other laser processes. Such process can not only increases surface roughness and clean contaminates, but can also selectively remove the matrix material and expose the surface fibers of cured composites. The treated cured composites have improved thermal and electrical pathways that can dissipate unwanted heat and electricity when two or more prepregs and/or cured composites are bonded or cured to form a single article.
LIGHTNING PROTECTION IN AIRCRAFTS CONSTRUCTED WITH CARBON FIBER REINFORCED PLASTIC
The embodiments described herein provide for lightning protection in aircrafts constructed with Carbon Fiber Reinforced Plastic (CFRP). In one embodiment, the apparatus includes a first Carbon Fiber Reinforced Plastic (CFRP) panel, a second CFRP panel that overlaps with the first CFRP panel in a vertical direction, and a fastener to join the first CFRP panel with the second CFRP panel, the fastener extending in the vertical direction in an area where the first CFRP panel and the second CFRP panel overlap. The apparatus further includes a plurality of electrically conductive pins in each of the first CFRP panel and the second CFRP panel, wherein the pins extend in the vertical direction proximate to the fastener to electrically connect the first CFRP panel and the second CFRP panel in the area where the first CFRP panel and the second CFRP panel overlap.
RESIN MEMBER AND METHOD FOR PRODUCING RESIN MEMBER
A resin member is formed from a resin material containing filler and an insulating base polymer as a main component. The resin member includes an alignment layer close to a surface of the resin member. The alignment layer includes the filler aligned in the surface direction and the base polymer filling the space between pieces of the filler. The alignment layer includes a carbonized portion that is carbonized matter of the base polymer, contains graphite, and provides electrical conductivity and thermal conductivity.

COMPOSITE MATERIAL FORMING METHOD
A method for forming a composite material including reinforcing fibers includes connecting end portions of the reinforcing fibers with equipotential materials to form an electroconductive loop including the reinforcing fibers in the composite material before reaction; and applying a magnetic field in a direction intersecting a plane formed by the electroconductive loop.
HYBRID NANOREINFORCED LINER FOR MICROWAVE OVEN
A liner for a crisp plate includes ceramic nanoparticles and a polymer material combined with the ceramic nanoparticles to provide a mixture. A network of carbon nanotubes is embedded within the mixture to form a composite matrix, wherein the carbon nanotubes are unidirectionally aligned within the composite matrix.
Hybrid braided composite parts
Systems and methods are provided for fabricating a hybrid composite part. A method includes braiding a first set of fibers to form a weave having a closed cross-sectional shape, braiding a second set of fibers into the weave that are chemically distinct from the first set of fibers, impregnating the weave with a resin, and hardening the resin within the weave to form a hybrid composite part.
ADDITIVE MANUFACTURED RESISTIVITY
Some examples include an additive manufacturing build object including an electrical component and a build object body. The electrical component having a varying electrical resistivity within a resistivity range of 109 ohms per square to 105 ohms per square, the resistivity range obtained by an application and fusing of a fusing component of a printing agent and build material, the printing agent applied to the build material at a predetermined saturation dosage range corresponding to the resistivity range. The build object body having a second electrical resistivity obtained by an application and fusing of the fusing component of the printing agent and the build material, the printing agent applied at a dosage below the predetermined saturation dosage range, the build object body being electrically non-conductive.
POLYMER COMPOSITE MATERIAL HAVING ORIENTED ELECTRICALLY AND THERMALLY CONDUCTIVE PATHWAYS
A method of forming a polyolefin-perovskite nanomaterial composite which contains oriented electrically and thermally conductive pathways. The method involves milling a polyolefin with particles of a perovskite nanomaterial, molding to forma composite plate, and subjecting the composite plate to an AC voltage. The AC voltage forms oriented electrically and thermally conductive pathways by partial dielectric breakdown of the composite. The presence of the oriented electrically and thermally conductive pathways gives the polyolefin-perovskite nanomaterial electrical and thermal conductivity and dielectric permittivity higher than the polyolefin alone.
