SELF-RIGHTING SYSTEMS, METHODS, AND RELATED COMPONENTS

Self-righting articles, such as self-righting capsules for administration to a subject, are generally provided. In some embodiments, the self-righting article may be configured such that the article may orient itself relative to a surface (e.g., a surface of a tissue of a subject). The self-righting articles described herein may comprise one or more tissue engaging surfaces configured to engage (e.g., interface with, inject into, anchor) with a surface (e.g., a surface of a tissue of a subject). In some embodiments, the self-righting article may have a particular shape and/or distribution of density (or mass) which, for example, enables the self-righting behavior of the article. In some embodiments, the self-righting article may comprise a tissue interfacing component and/or a pharmaceutical agent (e.g., for delivery of the active pharmaceutical agent to a location internal of the subject). In some cases, upon contact of the tissue with the tissue engaging surface of the article, the self-righting article may be configured to release one or more tissue interfacing components. In some cases, the tissue interfacing component is associated with a self-actuating component. For example, the self-righting article may comprise a self-actuating component configured, upon exposure to a fluid, to release the tissue interfacing component from the self-righting article. In some cases, the tissue interfacing component may comprise and/or be associated with the pharmaceutical agent (e.g., for delivery to a location internal to a subject).

Periodic Delivery and Release System for Hormone Pellets
20220105331 · 2022-04-07 ·

The periodic delivery and release system is a system for treating a medical condition through pellet therapy. The system aims to improve upon pellet therapy by releasing hormones periodically, such that the pellets may be used to treat hormonal issues for the female body and treat diseases like prostrate cancer in men through the cyclic release of hormones. The system includes different methods of application, as well as a delivery algorithm, which provides the patient with an exact cycle of hormone delivery, followed by a temporary pause of hormone delivery. Further, the system employs biodegradable components that are bioidentical to the hormones produced by the human body. Thus, the system releases a constant dose of hormones with intervals into the body, avoiding the negative effects of the high levels of hormones for an extended period of time and fast rate drop of hormones.

System and method for magnetic occult lesion localization and imaging

Systems and methods for marking the location and extent of an anatomical region-of-interest, such as a tumor, using magnetic seeds whose position and orientation are measured or otherwise detected using a detection device that includes two or more magnetic sensors are described. One or more magnetic seeds are implanted to mark and define the center and extent of an anatomical region-of-interest and a magnetic sensor-based detector system is used to accurately identify the location of the magnetic seeds.

An implant syringe includes a cannula, a storage element for receiving a solid material implant, and an outer sleeve with a radially projecting front gripping section which are axially movable together. An inner sleeve affords axial slits through which radial webs on the outer sleeve engage, and also includes a rod-shaped piston. The rod-shaped piston may be advanced through the storage element into the cannula such that a gap remains between the tip of the cannula and the head end of the piston. The cannula is rigidly connected to the storage element to form a cannula unit, that the webs on the outer sleeve are attached to an annular receiving member within the inner sleeve and that the cannula unit is insertable into the receiving member and is lockable therein, where a solid material implant can be inserted into the storage element.

Compositions, Dispensers, and Methods Thereof for Establishing a Urine Passageway Through a Ureter
20220062609 · 2022-03-03 ·

Disclosed are compositions, dispensers, and methods thereof for establishing a urine passageway through a ureter. For example, a composition can include, in some embodiments, a primary solid phase and a secondary solid phase. The primary solid phase can include a monomer, a pre-polymer, or a mixture thereof configured to commence polymerization into a polymeric form in the ureter when contacted with a fluid such as urine or saline. The secondary solid phase is dispersed in the primary solid phase. The secondary solid phase can include a leachable component. The leachable component is configured to leach from the polymeric form when contacted with a sufficient amount of a same or different fluid. The leachable component is also configured to form pores of an open-pore network throughout the polymeric form when leached from the polymeric form, thereby establishing the urine passageway through the ureter.

METHODS AND SYSTEMS FOR TRACKING AND GUIDING SENSORS AND INSTRUMENTS

A shared-housing ultrasound transducer and machine-vision camera system is disclosed for registering the transducer's x, y, z position in space and pitch, yaw, and roll orientation with respect to an object, such as a patient's body. The position and orientation are correlated with transducer scan data, and scans of the same region of the object are compared in order to reduce ultrasound artifacts and speckles. The system can be extended to interoperative gamma probes or other non-contact sensor probes and medical instruments. Methods are disclosed for computer or remote guiding of a sensor probe or instrument with respect to saved positions and orientations of the sensor probe.

IMPLANT PLACEMENT AND REMOVAL SYSTEMS

Devices, methods, and systems are provided for placing an implant into a patient and removing it therefrom.

KIT FOR AND METHOD OF ASSEMBLING AN APPLICATOR FOR INSERTING AN IMPLANT

The invention pertains to a kit for assembling a disposable applicator for inserting an implant, in particular a rod-like implant containing an active substance, under the skin of a human or animal, the kit comprising a first component, in turn comprising a main housing part providing a handle for grasping and maneuvering the applicator, a cannula, and a cannula holder mounted in the main housing part, the main housing part having an opening which allows introduction of an implant into the proximal end of the cannula or the cannula holder, and, a second component for closing said opening, in turn comprising a second housing part and a rod attached to or forming an integral whole with the second housing part and mountable inside the cannula or the cannula holder.
