LOCKING HOLE PLUG FOR SEALING HOLES IN COMPOSITE STRUCTURES
A hole plug that can be used during rework or repair of a composite fiber assembly includes various features that allow placement of a vacuum force to the surface being reworked or repaired. In some implementations, the hole plug can include a plurality of nubs positioned around a shank. The nubs can secure the hole plug to the composite fiber assembly until a cure of an adhesive. The hole plug can further include a plurality of longitudinally oriented grooves extending along the shank and positioned between the plurality of nubs, and can include a notch positioned circumferentially around the shank. The grooves and notch can be used as adhesive carriers that assist with dispersal of a sufficient volume of the adhesive onto other portions of the shank and the composite fiber assembly during insertion of the hole plug into a hole in the composite fiber assembly.
METHOD FOR REPAIRING A COMPOSITE PART
A method for repairing damage to a composite part includes creating an aperture through the composite part and preparing the surfaces surrounding the aperture on both sides of the part; inserting a plurality of resin impregnated fibers through the aperture and spreading the end portions of the plurality of fibers radially against the prepared surfaces on both sides of the part; and maintaining contact of the plurality of fibers with the prepared surfaces while the resin cures.
Method for reconditioning of a damaged portion of a component and insert therefor
According to an embodiment, a method is provided for preparing a reconditioning of a damaged portion of a component, particularly of an aircraft, by adding an insert, which fills and/or bridges the damaged portion. The method involves: producing a 3D CAD repair model of the damaged portion by scanning; analyzing the repair model and thus evaluating complexity of the damage and/or its reconditioning; as a function of the complexity, deciding between at least two alternative means to perform at least a following step, which is analyzing the repair model and thus dimensioning the reconditioning including the insert. Further, an insert is provided for filling and/or bridging a damaged portion for reconditioning of the damaged portion of a component, particularly of an aircraft, produced according to the method.

A method of repairing a surface defect with a patch is provided. A fibrous substrate is impregnated with a formulation that includes a polyester resin, a crosslinking agent, a solvent, and a particulate filler. The fibrous substrate is contacted with the surface defect. The formulation is exposed to actinic radiation to induce cure of the formulation to form the patch to repair the surface defect. A kit is also provided that includes a bottle containing the formulation. A sheet of fibrous support material is also provided that is adapted to receive the formulation therethrough. Instructions for repairing a surface defect by the aforementioned method are also provided as part of the kit. 3D printing of an article to fit in the surface defect is also disclosed.

RAPID REPAIR OF PNEUMATIC TIRE WITH DAMAGE BY CUT OR TEAR
A tire patch clamp assembly for sealing a cut in a pneumatic tire may include an inner plate inserted through the cut and placed on an inside surface of the pneumatic tire. An outer plate is placed on an outside surface of the pneumatic tire. The outer plate is coupled to the inner plate with a threaded rod and a secondary pin. A nut is coupled to the inner plate for receiving the threaded rod. A cam handle assembly is attached to the threaded rod and extends from the outer plate. The cam handle assembly turns the threaded rod in the nut to adjust the distance between the inner plate and the outer plate until the cut is sealed between the inner plate and the outer plate.
