Method for repairing a composite-material panel of an aircraft and tool for implementing said method

A method and a tool for repairing a composite-material panel of an aircraft with at least one repair part made of composite material without using an autoclave. The repair method includes the steps of preparing the panel, placing at least one repair part made of composite material on the second face to cover a damaged zone, positioning a vacuum bag configured to sealingly cover the repair part, polymerizing or consolidating the repair part, compressing the vacuum bag against the repair part using a compression plate concomitantly with the step in which the repair part is polymerized or consolidated.

System and method for forming a bonded joint

A method and apparatus for forming a bonded joint on a composite structure is presented. An apparatus carrying a first workpiece is positioned relative to a second workpiece. A vacuum is applied to the first workpiece and a portion of the second workpiece. A bladder on a first surface of a housing of the apparatus is deflated. Deflating the bladder positions the first workpiece such that adhesive having a desired thickness is positioned between the first workpiece and the second workpiece. The adhesive positioned between the first workpiece and the second workpiece is cured.

GLASS REPAIR KIT AND METHOD

HEATING ELEMENTS FOR REPAIR OF MOLDING DEFECTS FOR CARBON FIBER THERMOPLASTIC COMPOSITES

Methods of repairing a manufacturing defect in a molded polymeric composite structure are provided. A polymeric patch may optionally be disposed over a defect on a first contoured surface of the molded polymeric composite structure having the defect. A heating element that defines a second contoured surface complementary with at least a portion of the first contoured surface is applied over the polymeric patch. The heating element includes an electrically conductive layer that includes a fabric and a thermoset polymer. The polymeric patch is heated with the heating element, where the heating element has a substantially uniform temperature across the second contoured surface so that the polymeric patch fills the defect. Methods of making the customized heating elements and the customized heating elements are also provided.

A system for, and method of making and repairing a fiber-reinforced component including bonding a first thermoplastic matrix possessing reinforcing fibers distributed therein to a second composite member possessing a thermoplastic matrix with reinforcing fibers distributed therein; and metals and more particularly a method and apparatuses for joining fiber reinforced thermoplastics utilizing a combination of heat, force and rotational force.

Off-road vehicle tire repair patch, kit, and method
10105917 · 2018-10-23 ·

A patch kit and method for repairing a tear in a sidewall of an off-road vehicle tire includes an inside patch component, an outside patch component, and a compressing component for assembling, joining and compressing the inner and outer patch components together with the tire sidewall sandwiched therebetween. The compressing component is a threaded rod and a nut or bolt head to dispose on both ends. The inside and outside patch components are rigid or semi-rigid cupped shells with a hole for the threaded rod, so that the rod may pass through the patches and the tear for compression by tightening a nut. To facilitate tire repair without removing the tire from its rim, a recovery cable is temporarily connected to pull together repair components after they are separately pushed through the tear into the tire.

Method for repairing structured surfaces

A method refurbishes structured surfaces of a component having a damaged subregion with material detachment. The method comprising: determining a reference region having a similar surface structure as the subregion; while pressing a die material onto the reference region: curing the die material to form a transparent die which is separable from the reference region without leaving residues and has a negative shape of the surface structure of the reference region; filling the damage location with electromagnetic irradiation curable material; placing the die onto the curable material in the damage location with an alignment of the negative shape of the transparent die corresponding to a desired surface structure at the damage location; while the die is being pressed onto the damage location: irradiating the curable material with electromagnetic irradiation through the transparent die until the material is cured; and removing the die from the cured material without leaving residues.
